Hi everyone! Posting early today because I've been up for hours and just figured I would! Today I need to do some laundry, change my sheets and wrestle with my duvet cover. My girlfriend is coming over for dinner tonight ... I'm cooking a pasta dish from Hello Fresh for us ... then we will watch Netflix for awhile. It's a long weekend and pretty much every single guy in town has gone camping ... blech! No thanks! We will do the above and be happy about it! This is what I posted on Facebook today ... one of many posts about my dating life ... I enjoy true crime TV ... most dudes do not - they prefer sports ... I met one this week who enjoys Survivor like me though! Bonus!!! I hope everyone is feeling healthy today ... let us know! What is the weather like where you are? It is still smoky here but no where near as bad as it was the other few days ... today is going to be HOT! 29 degrees Celsius ... I will be staying inside with my lovely fans! What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

Well you know how much I enjoy camping with my man. Lol. I would love a 3 day weekend in a camper.
Jeremy is showering right now and then heading to the grocery store. Apparently we are out of milk and Lord knows he can't go without milk. So he's driven to go this morning.
I have no plans for the entire weekend. Walking my mile. Working on my shawl. I listen to a podcast called A History of Rock Music in 500 songs and he finally released an episode about the Grateful Dead. It is his longest episode yet at 4.5 hours! So I've been listening to that this morning while I made french toast and am crocheting. This podcast is great but probably will not keep the interest of those who aren't true music nerds.
I just have had a taste for fish. So Jeremy is going to pick me up some fresh fish and a steak for himself. Probably potatoes too. And he can pick a veggie. I have green beans, asparagus and broccoli.

We are having a fairly quiet weekend. Regular chores this morning, then this afternoon we went into the city to meet up with my Ukrainian friend, his mum and aunty. We went to this cute little cafe I have walked past many times, but never been in. They have a really limited menu, but everything we had was delicious. N is going back to Ukraine on Friday - I understand why he and his mum want to go back, but can't help but feel worried for them.
We are home now and DH is starting dinner prep. Our football game is at 6:30pm today - we are getting to the end of the season here and all games are 'must win'. Our main challenger for the title doesn't play until tomorrow, so we can only hope they don't do as well.
Dinner tonight is chilli bratwurst with a selection of salads - coleslaw, pasta and green.

Happy Saturday! I think I may have finally caught up on my rest from the travel hell of last weekend. Glad I have nothing on the books until July travel-wise. Heading out to a local farmer's market this morning with DH. I'm not a morning person, so while I've been wanting to attend this specific market for the 30+ years we've lived here, I've never made it. Today's the day though!
Dinner tonight will be prepared on the Big Green Egg. There is a big rib eye for DH, some tenderloin tips and some shrimp for me as well as potatoes baked on the grill. Should be yummy and provide enough meat for a couple more meals. Yes to not cooking in the summer! It's already n the 90s here.
Hope everyone has a relaxing weekend.

Getting ready to go for our Saturday walk. I loved camping as a Girl Scout. When DH and I married, we bought a big tent and all the stuff. He used to camp before we were married but his tent was too small. My sister and BIL were big campers too. We had many fun times together camping. We took DS on his first camping trip at 6 months. We don't do it any longer but would if we had a camper. Dinner might be spaghetti and meatballs.

I haven't camped since I was a girl scout, but I would be game. Though, I am so used to camping at a nice hotel that I'm not sure that I would be any fun. I love nature on my terms. We're going to an outlet mall this am for one particular store that dh wants to go to. I'll go into the Skechers outlet, because I want to try them. Then we're headed to Lowe's to get new patio cushions and and a couple more chairs. Also, we're going to look at bathroom cabinets for dh's next project. Then it's home to my puzzle. Dinner will likely be rechauffe enchiladas and salad.
cadoodlebug, I earned the most badges in my troop. I was only 2 away from the entire set. HA! sueg , you'll miss your friend, but I hope you'll be able to zoom now and then. I, too hope that they're safe and happy back at home. Monday I'm scheduled for a trial for a device that my team has wanted me to try for a few years. It could really help. My old insurance company denied it. My current insurance company is processing the approval really slowly. So, I don't know if I'm having surgery on Monday or not. Very frustrating. I'm gonna try not to dwell and just enjoy the weekend, but I'm a dweller. Enjoy your weekend and make the most of it, my lovelies.

Hi friends! Dinner tonight will be steak, potatoes & onions (but with the addition of green pepper tonight), and eggs. We were going to do pancakes and sausage, but DH doesn't want anything sticky with his temp crowns. leannec My boss and I LOVE the show Forensic Files (but only the original). I am 99% sure one of our attendees for conference this year was on the show in 2004, so if I see him, I may ask him for a picture since my supervisor isn't able to attend this year. (Is that weird?)

scrapmaven, I hope the approval comes through for you and that the new device makes a difference! I meant to mention this with my post: The tours that we go on, a group is now in France. We know about 2/3 of the travelers but opted out since we've been to France. One of the women, who has been on all our tours, doesn't live in the Bay Area so she flies and meets them there. At some point after she arrived, she passed out in the ladies room and was taken to the hospital. They think it might be diverticulosis. So she might not get to catch up with the group and have to fly back home. I feel so bad for her.

we are having leftovers. you all know I love camping with a passion.. I teach basic camping and basic backpacking to girl scout leaders.
dh and I both grew up camping.. though our styles are very different. he is skipping burning man this year and is excited to go on a short backpacking trip with me on the washington state beaches. I like it cause he will be with me but he can help carry the gear. so if you see a short tubby old lady marching down the beach.. that will be me. having grown up backpacking without tents.. I am just as happy under a tarp or a tent. depends on where I am going.

Cool & rainy day so I am baking. Chocolate chip sour cream cookies (so soft & yum) and meatbuns. The yeast dough is rising and the filling is made. My ds is going fishing/camping next week and the meatbuns are an easy eat on the boat. Better than sandwiches.

We went into the city this morning to get some wood. DH needs to make the rail on the end of our deck higher so Walker canāt jump over it. The other side and the front of the deck are contained within the fence so if he jumps over those sides, he will be inside the fence.
We have an āI Do Barbecueā tonight for the son of my best friend. Itās a cool drizzly day so not ideal for a barbeque. We plan on going for a couple of hours, long enough to have beef on a bun!
DH is feeling very tired these days. Heās struggling with lack of energy for awhile but now that heās been diagnosed, it seems to be worse. I have to bug him to relax and take breaks when heās in the middle of a project. Iām sure once the surgery is over, his energy level will vastly improve.
My best friend and I were supposed to be in Newfoundland this week but as you know our flights were cancelled so we postponed the trip. Iām still bitter about it. However if the trip hadnāt been cancelled, I wouldnāt have been able to go with DH to meet the surgeon on Thursday. So maybe it was cancelled for a reason?!!!!
Supper tonight will be beef on a bun at the wedding barbeque.

I was going to make peanut butter chocolate chip (my favorite) but then he was like you never make my favorite! š Haha... Enjoy your cookies.

It's a rainy day here and I spent the morning driving my grandsons to various locations as my daughter is sick. Then a manicure. Now I'm marinating salmon in teriyaki sauce while watching the 2018 Book Club in preparation for seeing the second one.
Also, we adopted an older dog (cancer survivor) yesterday and we are helping him adjust. Good thing the 3-y-o golden we have now is such a sweetheart - he has been so patient with the new dog yelling at him for no apparent reason.

We didnāt end up going to the I Do Barbeque. DH is having a rough day. He feels fine but is so tired. Heās had 3 naps and still feels like he could sleep. So we decided just to lay low tonight.
Staying home from the barbeque meant I had to cook supper! We had grilled pork chops, sliced potatoes and peas.

taylortroop , I'm sorry that you didn't get to go on your trip, but I wonder if it's a good thing that you're home w/your dh. I'm hoping that your dh's surgery will happen very soon so that he can feel well. cadoodlebug , thank you. I hope that your friend is feeling much better, quickly. It's just too bad that she missed France.

Helped dd2 move more. We finished most of it and then I did another coat of grout sealer in the shower. I still need to do the master shower. sueg my nephew in London is hosting a Ukrainian refugee I think for a year. Her family is being hosted a few blocks away. I was a Girl Scout for 9 years and do not miss camping at all. I made baked chicken, potatoes & salad.

I hope that your friend is feeling much better, quickly. It's just too bad that she missed France. I had a message from her on FB that she is doing better, they finally took her IV out and she's just doing oral meds. The tour company has been wonderful to her and let her decide if she wanted them to get her to the next stop or if she wanted them to fly her home. After much thought, she's decided to fly home on Monday. I was a Girl Scout for 9 years and do not miss camping at all. I was lucky that all my camping with the scouts was in the mountains on Oahu. The Girl Scout council owned/leased some prime property and it was a blast. The best part was after a rain, we could go tea-leaf sliding down the mountain! The worst part was centipedes!

I love to camp!! My favorite campground is Best Western, especially if there is a McDonalds nearby. Marie made me some mystery meat, potatoes, and mac & cheese. There is an ice cream cup screaming at me from the freezer. ETA: I stopped the screaming.

Just back from our vacation - so so nice to just relax and catch up with the kids - although they did sleep ALOT! But we knew the risk when we scheduled it right after their finals! Now I have mountains and mountains of laundry - but am a happy mama with my chicks in the nest!
Oh and I detest camping! I did a bit as a girl scout and it was fine and a bit when the kids were young, but just think it's way, way too much work!

sueg my nephew in London is hosting a Ukrainian refugee I think for a year. Her family is being hosted a few blocks away. My young friend is very lucky. His aunt - mum's sister - has lived in Munich for at least 10 years and is married to a German man. They were able to drive to the Poland/Ukraine border to get N and his mum last March, when the war started. They were also able to help with finding accommodation and schooling for N, so they were in a much better situation than many refugees who arrived here.
