I just wanted to share that I have been reflecting on my own and others’ cancer during the past week and wanted to say that I miss Craftykitten, Donna, and Compwalla/Virginia and the others the pod has lost to cancer.

Every now and then an old thread gets resurrected, and I have that moment of seeing one of their names and thinking... oh, how wonderful. And then, I realize.

I am a 33 yr cancer survivor. I read these names of those that lost the good fight and the names of those that are still fighting and think … why me? Why did I win the battle? There is no rhyme, no reason. It’s very humbling. And it makes me sad. Here’s to those lovely Peas we have lost. And a heartfelt wish that there will no more names added.

I have struggled with this so much since my cancer diagnosis 14 years ago. I lost so many chemo sisters. I’m one of the few left in my group and it makes me incredibly sad for them and for their families. And then I lost my own sister to cancer. We have lost so many incredible peas to cancer and other ways. I miss seeing them around.

Yes to all of the above. We have lost far too many members at far too young an age. They are missed.

It's just heartbreaking. To our peas who are currently fighting against this monster I wish you healthier days and long lives ahead.
((((HUGS)))) to all who need them.

I miss them all. We are so much richer in our lives for having all our Pea friends, for however long.

I was only thinking about Kate and her husband this evening on my way home. Again. I miss her too.
When you have a cancer diagnosis yourself, you meet so many other people with cancer, and develop an affinity with others who have been through similar experiences. Statistically your new circle diminishes faster than it otherwise would. That wasn't something I had thought about before.

Refresh my memory. What happened to grinning cat? We don’t know. At least the whole pod doesn’t, maybe someone close to her does. I think that someone saw a post on public media somewhere by her husband, or maybe they reached out to him, mentioning her death. The cause wasn’t publicly revealed. I do miss her too.

I was thinking of elaine and craftykitten the other day. I'm coming up on the 5 year anniversary of my final treatment. In some ways, it seems like yesterday and others it seems like a lifetime ago. Having cancer forever changed me and my life. Even though I am dealing with side effects of the treatments, I'm ALWAYS grateful that I am still here.
