I was absolutely sickened by that letter. She is just as disgusting as her son.

She is a real piece of work. She said something to the effect that they had "no duty" toward the Petito family. What a horrible human being.

She is claiming it was written before their trip and had nothing to do with Gabby. Then why did she include the “burn after reading” instruction if this was just a letter from a mother to her son to show how much she loved him.
I remember telling my son that there is nothing that would ever make me stop loving him. He gave me multiple scenarios and finally said “what if I killed someone” and I told him that I would still love him and that I would visit him in prison as often as I could. I would have never told him that I would help bury the body because that condones killing someone. That isn’t a healthy example to give your child. ( I should add my son was only 6 years old when we had this discussion. He had just returned from a weekend with his dad and was asking if I still loved his dad. Probably prompted by dad. I had to say that I did when we married, but now I did not. I didn’t hate him, I just no longer loved him - no explanation as to why was given. And then he asked if I would ever just stop loving him too. He was a very precocious child, much more mature than his 6 years. So our discussion was that a mother’s love for their child was different. He didn’t need to do anything to get my love and nothing he could ever do could make me stop loving him.)
I hate that she said they didn’t owe Gabby’s mother anything.

I'm listening to the court hearing they had the other day about this and their lawyer is just appalling. You can tell the judge even thinks so with the questions she asks.

They found it in his backpack so I'm betting he read it...

This whole situation rocks me to my core. But what kind of creepy mother writes a letter like that to a child? If you have to write something like that, you have more problems than loving your child. That, to me doesn’t show that you love them like you profess. That letter is sickening on several fronts. I know they knew he killed her. She has issues and to say that you have no duty to Gaby’s family just shows that she has issues.

Well, I guess now we know why he was a sick fuck. With a parent like that he didn't stand a chance of being a decent person. I hope she goes down HARD.

That letter is downright bizarre. I know a lot of mothers and I can’t imagine any of them writing to their children “If you need to dispose of a body, I will show up with a shovel and garbage bags.” What?
I’m leaning toward the notion Chris and Roberta knew what happened to Gabby. Here’s Brian, back from the road trip with Gabby’s van but no Gabby? Wouldn’t the natural query from his parents be: “Where is she?” Especially since she and Brian were engaged to be married.

I know a lot of mothers and I can’t imagine any of them writing to their children “If you need to dispose of a body, I will show up with a shovel and garbage bags.” What? That’s a bit too specific, isn’t it? I can imagine friends joking about baking a cake with a file, but not in a letter telling their child how much they love them. And when combined with the murder reference it’s bizarre, no matter when it was written.
