This is an older show, it’s on Hulu now. It has become one of my absolute favorite series of all time. The characters are so relatable, everyone is real and flawed. The siblings relationship is messy lol but deep and precious. The generational aspect is rare on tv. It is one of the first time there is a child with autism (ASD) in a regular role and it is depicted with dignity and authenticity (as a special education teacher I am never going to say it’s perfectly handled), and people can learn from it. It’s just soooo good. Dax Shepherd is my favorite character. Ray Romano is incredible as a late-diagnosis man with ASD. There’s so much humor but I also have often cried in episodes. Even dh loves to watch this with me. It’s become a fav.

It is one of my top 5 shows of all time along with (in no particular order) Schitt's Creek, Gilmore Girls, Friday Night Lights, and West Wing. I'm so happy that you like it, too!

Seems like all the good shows get cancelled. Loved that show as well as Family of Five. Great family shows.

I also really loved that show and cried many times. There was one scene in particular that I strongly identified with and it really got me.
I watched it because I loved Peter Krause so much in my all time favorite show "Six Feet Under" and loved him equally in this.

I started watching it a few years ago and the way it’s filmed in speed reminds me of The Office. I don’t know how to explain it but because of that I couldn’t get into it right away. After I discussed it somewhere, maybe even on here, someone said to give it some time. So I did and got into it.
I don’t remember what it was but I kept it on the back burner and then we got rid of Netflix (I think it was) and never got to even finish the first season.

I, too, discovered this after it had aired. I loved it from the first 5 minutes. It was as much or more about the sibling relationships than parenting, imo.
Love it when I discover a show with many seasons to watch.

I loved it when it came out and was really disappointed it was cancelled. I’ll have to look it up.

I’d forgotten about this series, I watched it when it was airing on TV and liked it. Thanks for jogging my memory, it would be worth a rewatch!

One of my all time favorite shows. I have a friend who has a son with autism and the character on the show acts so much like my friend’s son. He even looks a bit similar to him. Such great writing and acting on this show.

Another fan here! My youngest and I watched it together for the first couple of seasons before she flew the nest - it was certainly a show that spanned the generations. I really like Craig T. Nelson - I think he was my favourite but the others were pretty close.

I loved this show so much! I remember a friend saying she didn't care for it because when the whole family gets together, they do a lot of talking over each other and it is chaotic. And I think that is likely part of why I liked it. I grew up in a family of 5 kids, you fight for time to be heard (still do) so that is so authentic to me. I miss that show and probably should watch the series again.

I watched this show as it originally aired. I really should re-watch it. I love shows like this, so much now is crime, medical or reality. I just want a good drama.

I guess I wasn’t watching much tv when this originally came out because I hadn’t heard of it. Based on comments here, I found it in Hulu and decided to watch the pilot. Well, it just so happened to turn into an insomnia night so I kept on watching and watching. I am totally enjoying all the commotion of a big family. Thank you for bringing this show up, putabuttononit.
