On a whim I just tossed in a couple blue cheese stuffed green olives. I’ll report back when they are done.
What’s something unusual you’ve tried in your air fryer?

I would give the olives a fail. Of course all the blue cheese melted out and it took over 10 minutes and the still hadn’t crisped up. They also ended up with a strange aftertaste.

Strangest thing for us was an uncrustable. Kid liked it.

Hmmmm…I cook all kinds of stuff in my air fryer. I don’t really think any of them are strange 🤣
Biscuits Crescent rolls Pigs in a blanket Muffins Cupcakes Every kind of veggie Nachos
I love roasting up buns in there

Cadbury Creme Egg wrapped inside a Pillsbury crescent roll. They were surprisingly good.
ETA: I recently bought a cheap air fryer specifically to use to bake sublimation designs onto mugs, tumblers, slate, etc. But I’m thinking that’s not really what you meant! Once an air fryer oven has been used for sublimation it can’t be used for cooking food.

The item I cooked wasn't strange, but the result was undesirable!
I bought some chicken balls with a garlic butter center, I thought they'd be great in the air fryer, they came out looking delicious and golden brown, I bit into one - to find the butter center had turned into molten lava, which burned my lips and tongue and as I reacted, it also dripped on to my chest and caused a small blistered burn.
Do not recommend.

I like artichoke hearts rolled in parmesan and bread crumbs, then tossed into the air fryer. Mmmm delicious I'll be giving that a try! I can substitute pecorino romano for the parmesan, since I can't eat cow dairy, but goat cheese is fine.

My leftover Italian Nachos from Old Chicago??? Turned out good and crispy. I don't know if that is really that weird though.

I just bought a jar of artichoke hearts from Costco without any idea of what I was going to do with them. I used to pair them with olives to make a pasta sauce, but I’m not eating much pasta these days so I don’t know why I bought them. If I can do them in the air fryer like this, that would be delicious.

I had to laugh visuliazing crispy olives. Black ones would look like mini prunes. Ha!
I've just done typical items. Havent't gotten creative.

We had a couple of months with no oven so I did a lot of things in the air fryer. One odd thing was that I took a Pillbury french loaf, the kind that pops out of the paper can, and sliced it into rolls and "baked" them in the air fryer. Worked just fine.

I’m going to give it a try.

I just bought a jar of artichoke hearts from Costco without any idea of what I was going to do with them. We quarter them and put them in green salads. You mean the marinated ones, right? Non-marinated ones are more flexible - but right now all I can think of is spinach-artichoke dip. YOMMMMM

Nothing too unusual. Avocado fries. Halloumi cheese cut into sticks in the size of mozzarella sticks come out tasting pretty close to Mozz sticks after they've been air fried. They're a favorite of my celiac grandson.

The lid to one of our vegetable containers for the fridge. LOL
Dh put the lid in the dishwasher so it warped and wouldn’t fit back on the container. He put it in the airfryer and then took it out and molded it back to fit on the container.

I don't have any contribution to the main point of this thread (odd things in an air fryer), but... I do a colorful dish of sliced radishes and snow peas sauteed together and then hit them with a splash of ponzu sauce. Delicious!

Watching this thread cause I don’t use my air fryer as much as I should. The artichokes sound yummy, will have to try them.

Oooh…I want to try the artichoke hearts idea. I have a large jar from Costco too.
I’ve had deep fried capers before and was hoping the olives would be similar.

I like artichoke hearts rolled in parmesan and bread crumbs, then tossed into the air fryer. Mmmm delicious DH loves artichokes. More info please! I just buy the jars of marinated artichoke hearts. I DRY them (Pat dry between paper towels), and dip in beaten egg, then into a mixture of bread crumbs/parm/parsley and air fry at 380 for six-eight minutes or a little golden. Serve with ranch dressing or whatever you like.

pjaye I know a few people that have had these sorts of accidents. The chocolate in pastry ones I’m sure would be the same, especially when they have caramel
