Hey so I just upgraded my Paperwhite to the newest 11th generation. Our family has 4 Paperwhites and we share a Amazon account/library. On my old device I was able to only have my books and not the entire library. On this new device I can't for the life of me figure out how to delete the books I don't want on my Paperwhite while not deleting them off our shared library. This can't possibly be this hard. I am not normally this bad at technology, but I'm truly at a loss. Are any of you familiar with my problem and willing/able to help?

If you hold down the picture of the book in the library portion of the kindle, it should give you an option to remove download which just deletes it from the device. That's how it works on mine.

If that doesn't work you can go into Amazon and under "content and devices" you can individually remove items from your Kindle.

Also, make sure you have your library settings on “Downloaded” and not “All” so you’re only seeing books downloaded to your device.

I bought a paperwhite last year and I hate it. I think Im so used to my Fire that I cant figure out the paperwhite- and I mean basic things- when Im reading a book, how do I get out of it? How do I find the library? And the worst part is that I bought a smaller fire to replace the paperwhite and I havent set that up yet. 😂

Tap that and there you are, back to your library. You should watch a couple YouTube videos, that will solve all your problems.

Great question! I have so many books that I want to delete from my kindle oasis but don't know how. It is confusing for me I am bad with technlogy! But I will try this! I need to learn how to use it because I still take a ton of books on trips as I am afraid I will not figure out how to get my kindle to work. So it defeats the purpose of my kindle.

I tried that and I don't see that option. I wonder if it's because most of my books are downloaded directly on my Paperwhite vs. from Amazon via computer?

Nope I'm not understanding how to do that without deleting from the library vs. just my Paperwhite.

I'm seriously not this technically challenged I swear. This new Paperwhite is totally confusing the heck out of me.
I just saw a (+/-) button icon thing on the right side of the screen. Is that a shortcut way to add and delete books? I'm feeling a little intimidated to try it right now.

One thing I noticed is that the books all appear on your device but they are not downloaded to the device. The image you see is a placeholder. I never found a way to not have the placeholder there. I was sharing an account with my kids and didn't want them to see all my books on their device. Only way I could figure it out was to have them on the Amazon Kid setting but as they became older that was not longer appropriate. Since I don buy many books I made them just create their own Amazon account and get books from the library on their own. I agree the device is not intuitive at all. But I still love mine.

I don’t share my books so this might not apply. When you are on your Home Screen and looking at the books in your library, what options do you get when you click on the three dots at the bottom right of each book? Maybe remove from device is an option there?

Hopefully this works the same way as my kindle oasis: From your Home Screen when the kindle first opens, go to your library. When you are in your library, right under the search bar at the top you will see three lines with dots running through them on the left side. Press on them and the filter screen should pop up from the bottom. You can choose the Downloaded filter under status at the top. Then you should only see books on your device. Hope that works.

Yeah, I should. I just want it to be intuitive. 😂😂 I love my paperwhite but I agree that they're the least intuitive things I've ever used. I mean I think getting in and out of a book is not really hard but in general I have to Google almost everything I want to do that isn't right there in the menu. Super annoying.
