Hello all, I'm sucking at this this year, so I need some motivation. I signed up for Noom's free trial (I'll cancel before the 7 days is up) just to get back on track.
This week my goal is to log my food every day. I'm thinking about pre-planning meals.
I did get back to exercising last week, so hopefully that sticks.
How are you all doing?

So far I have worked out every day this week. If I could just get my evening snacking under control I'd be on the right path.

I am SO FRUSTRATED. I quit the paid version of noom and have gained most of my weight back. I switched to Lose it bc I wanted to track more micros than calories, mainly protein. But I am STUCK in a rut and I don't get it. I have an appt with my endochronologist in Aug so I am giving myself the summer to see whats going on and then I dont even know what to do.

I started low carb and intermittant fasting just over 1 month ago. I am down 20 lbs and am super motivated at the moment.

I’m focusing this month on incorporating all three: cardio (running), strength training, and yoga/Pilates. It’s a struggle for sure.
I have a trip coming up for my 50th and I plan to spend a lot of time in my bikini and I want to feel good in it, and of course feel healthy and strong.

I've been walking for an hour a day/5 days a week, plus doing 2X/week strength training since February. I haven't been counting calories, but have been eating the good stuff and laying off the 'bad' stuff. The main thing I've done though is mentally. Weight is not a goal. I took it off the table, and being as fit and healthy and strong as possible is my goal. I also don't have a time frame to get there. It will happen if I keep working on it. There's no destination for when I stop doing these things, they are just what I do now. My GOAL is to be fit and strong and keep it that way so that I can go and do all the things that DH and I want to do. That's what keeps me going.I had to have a long-term, meaningful goal to help wake me up to what I have to do and how I need to get there.
I'm 54 and have tried and failed innumerable times to lose weight,, to figure it out,,, to be a certain weight. It has never worked. I finally had a shift that hit me like a ton of bricks,,, I'm 54 and I have to do this now or I will be fighting this battle forever. I don't weigh myself and I'm not going to. That number no longer matters to me. I know I've lost weight because I can see it and my clothes are all too big. This time I get it. I get the "it has to be a lifestyle" that I've always heard. I thought I had made it that before, but I was wrong. My goal had to shift to a different plane for it be real.

Hi I did great on steps a couple of days ago and yesterday and today are not ideal. Dinner tonight will be keto and I am happy about that. There was the best chocolate cake in the world on offer on Friday and I made a mixed berry crisp because it’s a family favourite. I am surprised they aren’t sick of them now. Today I am determined to eat keto.
The dog got a morning walk which was nice. I hope to walk him the big walk today later. It needs to cool off first.

freecharlie My goal is at least 2.5 miles. I do .5 walk (15 min) in the morning inside my building (work) and then a 2.5 or more walk (45 min+) outside in the afternoon. I actually have stopped walking outside. Monday was my last day until summer is over. It's just too hot. We have a rec center with a track that is right by my work, so I've joined that for the summer. I don't like being on a track nearly as much, but there is also a lot of other equipment that I can use. I did a stairstepper yesterday.

I’m doing horribly as well. We are staying up later due to baseball and my older kids being home more. But then in the morning I’m putting off exercising. Also been eating too much junk due to busy schedules. Things will be slowing down soon but I’ve been super stressed about finances, graduation, baseball, work, etc. Just don’t have the bandwidth to focus on meals. We have the grad party the 8th. Going to do my best before then but really buckle down afterwards.

I am not a fan of strength training and have recently started doing bike boot camps to get me to do some strength training within a bike workout. I was talking to my daughter about them yesterday. She is a new mom and we talked about how a 30 minute bike boot camp is a time efficient way to get some cardio & strength training. I like working out in the morning, but when I was working I could not get myself out of bed to do it. I could get myself to do it a couple times and I always loved that I had my workout done, but I could never get myself to do it consistently.

I'm trying to ge my eating back on track. I'm tracking and measuring. Portion control and stress eating are difficult for me.
My goal for the summer has been cycling 2x per week, walking 1x per week and kayaking 1x per week. It's been hard because we've had a lot of rain days and now smoke days.
Today is my last day at work until Sept so I can focus more on me.

I could get myself to do it a couple times and I always loved that I had my workout done, but I could never get myself to do it consistently. In December/January I started to focus more on strength training because I thought it would help with body composition and weight loss. I rode my bike a few times a week, walked the dog multiple times daily, and did Chalean Extreme and another program through beachbody that were focused on strength. I did lose about 7-8lbs from my highest weight, but no inches. Having the puppy has thrown my routine off track in the mornings, and it's worse now that school is out. But that is really the best time for me to exercise. My goal right now is to go back to the Peloton strength workouts four days a week (can't decide if I should try one of the programs or just do my own thing) and ride at least three times a week. I'm also trying to change my mindset like Susie_homemaker. I want to feel better in my clothes, have more energy, and most of all live to be old. My dad had a stroke when he was 50 and I am getting close to that age. I am such a slow loser that I get discouraged and basically tell myself it doesn't matter if I eat a cookie/go out to eat again/etc today because there isn't any progress to lose. But I recently listened to a podcast and the host said that most people say they want to lose weight to be healthy. But she said that you have to BE healthy to lose weight. A healthy body/hormones/metabolism will lead to a healthy weight. I'm trying to keep that in mind.

I heard something similar in a podcast too. He was saying that getting and being fit should be the goal, being at a healthy weight will be a result of that,,, not the other way around. It was actually this podcast that helped flip my mindset about it all. It spoke to me and was what I needed to hear at that time. It's the A Moment of Weakless podcast by Jason Seib. I'd recommend it to anyone who has tried and tried to lose weight.

A healthy body/hormones/metabolism will lead to a healthy weight. I'm trying to keep that in mind. My mom had a fairly major stroke in her late 40s and had a fatal one when she was 69. That has had a profound effect on me. She was a healthy weight and active, but struggled with her blood pressure. I take a med for cholesterol. I can’t manage it without one. I’ve tried. I am hopeful that doing workouts that really get my heart pumping will help me avoid having issues with my blood pressure. My iPad has been showing me pictures from about 4 years ago when I was at a weight that was a lot of work for me to maintain. I want to be there, but it requires that I am constantly managing what I eat. I love to cook & bake, so I have to figure out the midpoint. My clothes fit and I feel good, but at age 56 in order to stay in that size I have to make the effort. I am vain. I’ll admit it.

I'm in the last two weeks of my current training cycle so it's the heavy phase, then a deload week. I feel exponentially stronger as this cycle ends compared to last cycle. I can squat, RDL and DL my bodyweight, and I can reverse grip row almost that much. Despite my weight not changing much recently, I am much leaner than I was 8 weeks ago. I told my trainer that I had a [probably unrealistic] dream of visible abs and she told me it could be possible, so that is the summer goal. Then I start training for my half marathon. July 21 marks two years since I joined a gym and started lifting weights. I never imagined I would be where I am today

Consistent, heavy lifting has been big for me. I do one core focused workout per week with things like planks, crunchers, reverse hypers, hanging knee raises. But I also have at least one of these in my daily rotation during the activation section. Also, running has made a huge difference in my abs

I ran/walked a 5k today. Made it in just under 45 minutes and I walked at least one of the miles. I find I run too fast when I'm not on the treadmill. I hadn't ran (at all really) since November, so this reminded me that I like to run and that I like to work out.
So my question is how do I train for a more complete 5k and build to a 10k AND do strength training. I feel like I only have time for one or the other

I think middle age finally caught up with me. I want to lose 3 lbs before I go to the Dr. at the end of the month. It shouldn’t be this hard, should it?
My step count is from 11,000-16,000 daily. We have been going out in the morning and walking the marsh. It has been very nice.
My eating has included eating rice which I didn’t want to eat but it was just 2 days. This week I will eat better and there are no more birthdays to celebrate. Thank goodness.
