Linda , arggh, I’m so sorry. Such a bummer. I think my son put an alarm on their freezer door, because the kids (or maybe he himself) kept leaving it open. we've ordered one - should be here this week

sueg I keep my bands in my nightstand. For my Apple Watch I bought the Milanese band from Apple. It stays secure and I don't have to worry about it falling off my wrist. I miss wearing mine but with the brace on my left wrist it's not feasible right now. I don't really like wearing it on my right hand. Tonight we are taking out pizza. My left hand was really hurting last night so I'm taking a break.

Tonight's dinner will be pancakes and sausage. I wanted steak, eggs, and potatoes, but we wanted to use up some of what we already had.
I'm still pooped from my (mis)adventures at the airport last week and we went to Gettysburg yesterday for the 160th anniversary. Fortunately, I do have tomorrow off. I predict an incredibly lazy day.

scrapmaven. I don’t think so because they were garlic Parmesan and I think they were just too spicy and rich. now if there had been oregano or rosemary on it, then yes, that is exactly what would’ve happened because both of those I cannot eat

homeschoolmom I'm so sorry that happened! It happened to us once too when the kids were teens - and nobody would own up to it - and we lost SO much food. I know it really sucks!!

Dawn’s karaage Japanese chicken Only use thigh meat. If you will not eat thigh meat there is no reason to cook this. 300,000,000 Japanese moms are not wrong. I buy the 2 lb size of thighs. I cut it up into tiny pieces because it’s easier to eat that way. It’s also better for even cooking and snacking on. You can cook a whole thigh but I don’t.
In a ziplock bag (big) or mixing bowl, pour in some shoyu style soy sauce. I used Kikkoman but my new bottle is Yamasa. Pour in a decent amount because you need all the chicken covered. This is a must.
I use Japanese prepared garlic because we aren’t huge garlic people and if you use fresh you decide your tolerance. Crush your clove(s) and put it in the container. Ginger is important and fresh is good but I use similar to the garlic. (It is House Brand and I get it from Amazon). Grate enough ginger. I don’t have perfect measurements but I have been making this for 30 years and it always turns out. Saké and this is important. I put in 1/4 cup or so. Maybe less. It needs some. I also add mirin which is a Japanese cooking wine and add several good shakes of that. It calls for a bit of sugar, but I used 3 Splenda packets because I try not to eat sugar. Mix this and put the chicken in. Mix the marinade with the chicken so everything is coated. Cover, refrigerate and Marinate overnight ideally but 6 hrs works, too. (See above about it always turning out.)
The Japanese use potato starch. I like it, too but I used corn starch and everything I had in the house (corn and potato starches). Bread each piece. I do 10 or so little bites at a time. A deep pie plate or foil tray works the best. It still gets all over everything. Sample the oil by adding one small piece. If it bubbles nicely it’s ready. Cook, drain and eat. Sorry not sorry. They are that good.

Tonight I am having beef stroganoff and Father is having a fajita. I just love cooking different meals 🙄. I am making what I want though.
Dexter and I went on a nice walk around the neighbourhood and it was perfect weather.

According to my Vacation Countdown app, in just 1 day 4 hours 56 minutes and 23 seconds, I will be on a plane on my way to Thailand! In answer to your question yesterday scrapmaven : AussieMeg , How exciting that you're going to Thailand. Is this your first trip to Thailand? AussieMeg and destined2bmom , I'm sending you both sleeping dust for tonight. May you both sleep like rocks. Yes it is my first trip to Thailand. We are travelling with two other couples. We have three nights in Bangkok, seven nights in Koh Samui, then our travelling companions fly home and DSO and I stop off in Singapore for four nights. Oh, and the sleeping dust didn't work, but thanks for trying! We had my family over for dinner, for my dad's 81st birthday. It's actually his birthday on Wednesday, but I will be overseas. When I told dad a while ago that I would be away for his birthday, he asked if I was paying him back for being overseas on my 40th birthday way back in 2007. I cooked Jamaican butterflied chicken, a slow cooked lamb, roasted potatoes and pumpkin, broccoli, cauliflower and snow peas with white sauce, gravy from scratch. Not bad considering I didn't get home from the football until 5:15pm! (I had par boiled the potatoes and put the lamb on in the morning, though.)

I love that it is low carb but had to laugh at a few of the comments: adding rice or potatoes kind of negates the low carb part.

I eat fruit everyday and sometimes I am just hungry. I have started eating more vegetables. I was having an excellent low carb day and someone came home with a pie. Neither of us should be eating pie.

AussieMeg did you see van Gisbergen won the nascar race just now? He's a new Zealander who races in Australia. It was his first time in a nascar race and he won. It was something.

AussieMeg, I'm excited for you. You're going to have so much fun and it'll be very interesting. Singapore is supposed to be so clean and beautiful and the people very kind. Enjoy it all.

Oh wow, that's pretty cool! I don't really follow any kind of racing particularly closely, but I certainly know who's who, and I know his name and that he has won the Australian Super Cars title a few times. And now that he's won NASCAR, we Aussies will claim him as our own, like we try to do with every good thing that comes out of NZ! AussieMeg, I'm excited for you. You're going to have so much fun and it'll be very interesting. Singapore is supposed to be so clean and beautiful and the people very kind. Enjoy it all. I went there once on the way to London, almost 30 years ago. I was only there for one night, and the things I remember most about it was (1) how clean it was, (2) how safe I felt (3) how efficient the rail system was, and....... (4) how expensive it was! We were only supposed to be there for three nights, but then our flight home got cancelled (eight months in advance, mind you!) so we are now there for an extra night. Which is fine, I have a long list of things I want to do and see, and I wasn't going to have enough time.

One problem I have and on a perfect day like today I ate perfect keto (with fruit). If I ate perfect keto I would keep losing and I can’t afford to lose any more weight. I am tiny. Everything got smaller. So I eat fruit everyday. I do cheat because if my weight drops to 115 I am too thin. Every part of me wants to eat perfect keto.

The missing watch bands have reappeared! When I was going to bed, I thought of the one box in my bedroom that hasn't been completely emptied since our move. So I had a quick look. In the box was a large ziplock bag containing a lot of jewelry boxes, which I put in there to keep in one place as I was unpacking, but hadn't found their final home yet. AHA! All the watch bands - the 2 others of the set of 3 I was looking for, a 'leather' band and a rainbow metallic one. Of course, the ones I ordered yesterday have now been dispatched, so I can't cancel them. Marina - I did keep mine in my nightstand up until our move. They just got misplaced then and I haven't needed to look for them until now. They are now back in my underwear drawer, where they belong!

I eat fruit everyday and sometimes I am just hungry. I have started eating more vegetables. I was having an excellent low carb day and someone came home with a pie. Neither of us should be eating pie. For me, I am obese and need to lose weight. This is working. I am not eating keto, at my doctors recomendation. I do eat fruit (there are several low carb options, just as some veggies are high carb) I would have avoided the pie at this point in my health journey. I am also not eating "dirty keto" keeping most of my food choices to be actual food, not junk keto food. As far as sustainable, I am not sure yet, I have only been at this about 6 weeks. I am feeling better. My skin looks better, I have less inflammation. Feeling good, and seeing the scale go down is a big motivator once you have dealt with the cravings. Since I am trying to lose weight, keeping my carbs low helps with that. But low carb can mean a lot of things. I think anything 150g per day is considered low carb. So maybe you go for the higher number of 150 carbs (which will allow for a lot of different types of fruit) , and try to eat clean? That may help with not losing more weight? I am sure you will eventually find that balance that works for you!
