I had heard that this shampoo (Pureology) was good, but when I checked at ULTA, it's expensive! They do have trial sizes, but even those are $7.50!
I did some research and saw that many people were unhappy with the Pureology Volume shampoo. They said the formula was changed and it was sticky and not good. The volumizing shampoo is what I really need. I see that the hydrating shampoo got some decent reviews but does it help with volume?
Hoping to get some opinions here before I spend the money on the trial sizes.

I bought the smoothing version. Yuck. Thankfully it was a small bottle but it still cost $40. It just wasn't worth the cost.

I am not using Pureology right now, but have in the past, and loved it. But I used the smoothing, not volumizing for my thick curly hair.
Just buy yourself the trial size and see. And remember that it's super concentrated, and takes hardly none to wash. Make sure you put a fine size drop, and rub your hands together until it's white. Then apply to your hair.
I'm hoping to get more this week at my next appointment, but the salon was out last time I was there, so I ended up with something else I don't like as much.

I find that at first it's awesome, and then it starts weighing my hair down. I use it once in a while when I'm at my moms, who forks over the dough for it (3-4 times a year.)

For smoothing I highly recommend a serum or oil of some sort. It's a very concentrated leave-in. I currently use DryBar 100% oil. I've also used Moroccan Oil and Argan oil. I do not use conditioner in the shower. My hair is straight and long, with lots of flyaways from years of breakage. My hair, when properly done, is really pretty.

I tried and didn't care for the Volume version but I use the Hydrate version now and it's fantastic. My hair is fine, straight and I color it every 4 weeks - the Pureology doesn't weigh it down at all and it really preserves the color. The product is definitely expensive but a little goes a very long way. I only need to use a dime-sized amount on my shoulder length hair.

I've been using Suave Professionals Moroccan/Macadamia Infusion shampoos & conditioners and find they work just as well - if not better - than Pureology. Best thing is a big bottle is only $5.

I loved the old purology, hate the new formula. It makes my hair dry and gives it a weird texture. I switched to redken volume and like it

I have a couple of friends who use the Costco Kirkland brand shampoo and swear by it. It's only $9.99 for a large pump bottle.

Pureology was used on me once in the salon. I loved it but then saw how much it cost. I tried the suave professional tha says on the bottle it compares to pireology. I threw it away because I didn't like it at all. I tried loreal everpure and it is ok but I will stick with kirklands. It is cheap and I like it better than any of the others.

Hydrating shampoo will not help with volume. I like Kenra volumizing shampoo. I buy it at Ulta.

The Costco Kirkland brand is what I use however it is a moisturizing not volumizing shampoo. On a side note it is rumored to be manufactured by Pureology. My sister works for Costco as a buyers assistant. I asked her if the rumor was true. She did find out that the Kirkland brand is made by L'Oreal and that L'Oreal owns Pureology so you can make your own assumptions on that one.

I used it for years. Maybe five but then it just started to make my hair greasy at the scalp and dry on the ends. The peas recommended the suave professional. And I haven't looked back. I started with the moracan oil but recently switched to the keratin one and like it even better. My hair looks just as good as when I first started using pureology probably better. When I run out of this shampoo I guess I will have to try the Kirkland.

L I'm not wild about the smell though. It's taking me a long time to get through it because I keep switching to other things.
