We have been inundated with rain and have major flooding in so many areas here in Vermont and in a lot of the Northeast. They are likening it to Irene (and some places are worse). I am hoping that everyone who is affected by this weather event stays safe and doesn’t experience any flooding, damage or having to evacuate.

They showed parts of the tracks on the NY side underwater or with a lot of debris. I haven’t seen if the Vermonter route (St Albans Vt to Washington DC ) is still running or not.

The train they're on splits in Albany, part of the train was supposed to continue on to NYC but some of the tracks are washed out. Fortunately for my dh and ds, the tracks to Boston are clear at the moment.

I watched that storm on radar all day yesterday waiting for it to hit CT - and it never did. We got some decent rainfall, but that thing just kept going north, about 25 miles to the west of us - and never really moved east.
Terrible devastation to areas around West Point.

Last week Chicago was flooding, the south east is in a prolonged heat wave and the earth is at an all time high temperature…
but climate change is a hoax. 🤦🏼♀️

I saw this in the East and saw there was a landslide I think in California but we aren’t getting rain so not sure unless the name if the city is also back east. Horrible for all effected no matter where it is.
But yes climate change is made up to just make money 🤦♀️

Praying for all effected by horrible weather - flooding, landslides, heatwaves and fires. I hate this and it makes me crazy that oh climate change is all made up for money. They think that we have no effect on this. Sorry we have an effect on nature did we not notice the difference when the world shut down and how water cleared up and such.

So far, Connecticut has been ok. Rain has been in the forecast every day, and it has rained, but nothing like some of our neighboring states.

We have been having some heavy rain in NJ. In my area not near what NY has gotten. We do have the 90 plus temps.
When the southerners come north to avoid their unbearable temps, will we have room?

My general area had some road flooding, but nothing like other northeastern states had. We were lucky and received less rain than anticipated, and it was more spread out than forecasted as well. I feel for those affected. The photos of the aftermath of floods are always awful.

We were at the Simon Pearce restaurant in Queechee a few weeks ago. It was so tranquil and lovely on the river. I saw video yesterday of that river, filled with giant debris, roaring under the restaurant. It looks terrifying.
Stay safe, hopefully the rivers will crest today without more damage.

I’m in Northeastern Vermont. We’re okay but my daughter lives in Lyndonville and it flooded pretty bad. Barton, a small town I rive through to get to work, flooded. There is a food truck right after you get off I-91, the Copper Plate is gone.
Barre, the city I grew up in, had bad flooding downtown. I’m surprised Montpelier isn’t worse. South is worse. Chester and Ludlow, towns we travel to are pretty bad.
It’s so reminiscent of Irene.

I was at our camp in Walden with friends this weekend and came home on Sunday (I take 15 into Essex), I was going to wait until Monday and am glad I didn’t and as Morrisville, Johnson, and Jeffersonville all had a lot of flooding and that seemed to start early. I went up Friday and we had wicked storms with hail, Danville had strait line winds and had damage from that. We have had so much torrential rain up there everything was already so saturated and all rivers high so I knew it wouldn’t take much to push things over the edge. Barton looked really bad as did Barre and Montpelier. You know it is bad when parts I89 are closed. I did see that Lyndon and Lyndonville were hard hit. I hope your daughter is okay. Edited to add - We stopped at the Whirlejig brewing on Saturday, I hadn’t been there before. We enjoyed it. 😄

According to some weather people, Vermont will be getting more. The rivers and streams cannot handle it!!

According to some weather people, Vermont will be getting more. The rivers and streams cannot handle it!! Yes we are suppose to get more on Thursday and Friday and all of the rivers haven’t even crested yet from this. They are calling it Irene 4.0 because while Irene was bad it was rain for 12 hours. This has been 48 hours, plus the rivers and grounds were already saturated. There are dams and reservoirs that are almost at breach level and they may have to do some water releases, which will only cause more damage and water downstream. It is really a catastrophic situation for much of our state. Luckily there has been no reported lives lost yet, but they have done about 117 swift water rescues already and there are still so many people and communities cut off. Fingers crossed that we don’t get a lot more on Thursday and Friday.

Oh, that sounds horrific compeateropeator . I'm hoping for no loss of life, and am so sorry this is happening to so many. Our poor planet is screaming for help on so many levels, in so many ways.

this is so sad, so much devastation. My hearts go out to those who've had losses and the flooding abates soon.
The new normal for our times, sigh.

Unfortunately it's a vicious circle. All that is damaged in the floods will be replaced with new items. The manufacture of these items will further damage the planet.

They are very nice people. So many new things happening in town. St. J Distillery is pretty cool, too. My parents are in Williamstown and had some flooding in their basement. They’ll need to get someone over to help them dry out the carpet but my Dad is a germaphobe and he’s gotten so much worse from Covid I’m afraid he’ll try to do too much to avoid someone coming into the house. My mom is supposed to have chemo tomorrow at CVH but I’m wondering if it’s cancelled. She’s not replying to my text. I was looking at the videos/pictures today. Cabot was hit pretty hard. Their main drag looks awful. My daughter is good except the beach she takes her dogs to on the Passumpsic was pretty much washed away. She had just bought a life jacket for her Frenchie and it was delivered yesterday which was kinda funny. He’s not a great swimmer but her Dane likes to go a little deeper and he has to go too! They won’t be near the river for a while!

Hopefully today and tomorrow they’ll go down enough that they won’t be affected by more rain. They are some cool drone videos showing a lot of the damage. There is a twitter account VTflood23 that has a lot of videos all over. It’s devastating!

There is flooding in Montpelier. CNN has reporters there. I grew up in Barre and it’s so awful seeing video from there and Montpelier where I had a lot family. Being a high school teacher I was so sad to see the high school under so much water. 😢
