Did you buy a cover your Kindle? No, no issues with screen freezing. And I do have a cover on it. Its one it clicks into with a hard back and the front opens like a book. I wanted some protection for when I put it in my purse just in case it were to get squished somehow.

Did you buy a cover your Kindle? no - and I've mine 10 yrs with no problems AND I'm the sort that has my phone in an otterbox for good reason. The kindle has been dropped, thrown in my handbag, taken camping etc...it's a pretty sturdy device, imo. (I have a Paperwhite) I had screen freezing issues about a year ago and wondered if that was a sign I needed to upgrade but a couple of hard restarts and I haven't had any more problems.

Add me to the list who loves their Paperwhite. I have the Amazon cover for it that turns the screen off automatically when you close it, and wakes it up when you open it. Perfect size and I love the long battery life.

I love my paperwhite but upgraded. So, I got the new paperwhite for like $60 and I will send my old one back to Amazon. Definitely was a 'want' and not a 'need' but I did it anyway!

For those of you saying that your Oasis doesn't hold a battery charge as long as you'd like... I haven't noticed any problem with mine. I haven't tried to travel with it recently, but I know I don't charge it every day. I just checked and mine is at 64% and that's with two nights' of reading and no charging. I do keep the wifi turned off though, so maybe that makes a difference? I always keep it in airplane mode unless I'm actively downloading a book, because I'm always playing book roulette -- trying to finish a book that's past due at the library, before downloading another one. haha

My oasis holds a charge about twice as long as my paperwhite did. I also keep it on airplane mode all the time unless I am downloading. There is zero reason to leave it on all the time that I have found.
