I've been thinking about this thread and tbh - while I would expect a vegan meal from friends who I knew were vegan, I don't necessarily expect meat and/or dairy at anyone's house. There are plenty of mainstream meals that don't include meat and/or dairy and just because my host eats meat and/or dairy, doesn't mean they are obligated to serve them at every meal. signed an omnivore who serves vegetarian and/or vegan meals at least a couple of times a week i agree with this. I definitely don’t expect meat at every meal. A lot of vegan meals I don’t think I would even notice that they were vegan

I am not going to read the responses since I feel like this turned bad?? I dunno.
I am a very picky eater. Very. But I wouldn't say anything either or make comments. But that menu for me would not be exciting at all. I would fake my way through it. I wouldn't want to hurt feelings. I don't want to make issues of my eating habits. I keep it to myself and I HATE when people call me out on it. One of my very good friends is always making snide remarks and I ignore her as much as possible. You worry about what is on your plate, not mine.
So that is my feelings.
Edited to add: I would not expect you to cook me something special or non vegan.. I deal with my own food issues.

That meal looks delicious! I have to admit, the one thing that's giving me pause is the strawberry soup - and that's only because I don't know that I would like a chilled soup, let alone a fruity one. But I would definitely try it

Well circling back to my earlier comment, I would be happily surprised at what you provided and would definitely try everything! And I doubt seriously any Mac Donald’s would’ve necessary!

Looks amazing. I’d love to hear more about what you teach for cardiac eating Pretty much follow Dr Caldwell Esselstyn, Dr. Michael Greger and Dr. T Colin Campbell along with others. Eat a whole food, plant based diet, where fats come only from plants, nuts and seeds and you really only eat the minimum fat you need. Half your plate should be cruciferous greens at every meal: kale, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli, asparagus, cabbage, bok choy, watercress etc. If you’re interested in adding more plants to your menu, I highly recommend the Minimilistbaker blog, Shaneandsimple blog, the Plant Based Woman Warrior cookbook (Dr Esselstyn’s wife and daughter), Rip Esselystn’s Engine 2 books (Dr Esselstyn’s son), How Not to Die books (Dr Gregor) and a current new favorite: plant based delicious by Ashley Madden.

I will look into these thank you. I have GI issues making many vegetables and beans nemesis for me. I am always doing the “how not to die” in one form or other. It’s hard to find food to eat, let alone healthy recommended food I can eat. My cardiac is always at a tipping point. Your photo looks awesome.

OP, this is the way I eat, and my cardiologists are very happy with me. I love my food, it never feels like I’m deprived. I’d invite myself over your way and bring one of my favorite dishes in a heartbeat if I were closer. theshyone , another source is Dr John McDougall, The Starch Solution. If you tolerate potatoes well, you might find some of their recipes work for you, and you can gradually add hi Th fiber foods to see what foods and how much of them you can eat.

I think they were incredibly rude. Just incredibly rude. I have a couple who I invite regularly. I know that she has an allergy to nuts and she doesn't care for squashes. I also know he doesn't eat chicken. So I do accommodate them. However, I can't imagine saying to someone vegan they have to cook meat or animal products because of me. And even if you don't care for someone's menu, you stay silent, be polite, and if you need to get something else, you do. My picky husband does this.
I, however, eat everything. Your food looked amazing. I would have been thrilled to sit at your table.
