Is this a nice park? We have been thinking of going here. Don't know too much about it. I know about the north and south sections. Did you enjoy it? What are your thoughts about it? TIA.

It was very dry when we went, so take my notes with a grain of salt. This was July a few years ago. A good rain would have made a difference.
The north unit-The river was dry when we went, so the hikes along that area were not as nice as they could have been. The drive to the top point was gorgeous and the views were great but a bit muted with dust. The drive to see the wildlife was spectacular too, with several small hikes off that road.
Pack your lunch and snacks in because there are no food options, at least when we were there. I think the toilets were pit, but I don’t remember for sure.
The south unit-the visitor center was cute. There were snacks and drinks and real bathrooms. The views from there were amazing. The hike below the visitor center was rugged but not very well marked. It was very dry and dusty. I was worried about getting lost because the trail curved around a large rock and we couldn’t see the visitor center or which direction to go forward, so we did not finish it.
The north unit was our favorite part. We did both units in a day because that is the time we had.

I think the park is beautiful and definitely worth visiting. Make sure to spend at least 1 night in the town Medora. So much to explore and the musical is spectacular (a must see).

Oh yes. That's where we plan to stay. We will be there about 5 days or so. To relax, take it easy. Will be going over July 4 next year so that will be fun.

Take a tour to see the wild horses. The government is trying to get rid of them. Chasing Horses is a neat gift shop whose owners are helping the fight to save the horses. I was unable to.make it that far west when in the area.

I was unable to.make it that far west when in the area. Is it a guided tour? I know we can drive around and hopefully see some. The only tour I see costs almost $400. Too steep for my pockets.
