I was never a Barbie girl growing up so wasn’t planning to see it. But then the 2001-inspired trailer intrigued me, DS, and DH. And we’ve heard enough good stuff about it since that we’re going to do Barbenheimer this weekend. We're Barbenheimering too - although I guess technically Oppenbieing? We decided to start dark and go fluffy.

Neither DD or I were into Barbie at all but we both think the movie would be fun and we’d like to see it. I don’t know that we’ll go to the theater for it or wait for streaming but we do plan to watch.
The animated Barbie series that was on Netflix that DD watched when she was younger was actually pretty funny and there was quite a bit of humor aimed at the parents. I’m hoping the movie is similar.

I’m taking my boys (and ds#2’s aide) to see it tomorrow. I am excited to see it; it should be fun!
Dh and ds#1 saw Oppenheimer in 70mm yesterday. They liked it. I just wasn’t up for something so heavy - I need light this summer - so I ran errands instead.

We love movies. DD and I are doing a Barbenheimer weekend. I wasn’t really into Barbie growing up but I certainly appreciate the cultural influence and I’m excited to see Greta Gerwig’s vision.

Dd1 (29) saw it Thursday and just loved it. I saw it last night. I am way more of a Barbie fan than her but I wouldn’t rave about it like she did. I enjoyed it- a lot for the nostalgia and I wore pink (as many, many others) and took my pic inside a Barbie box The movie was just alright IMO. Some cute moments and messaging but honestly, I was hoping for more. I did hear many people saying on the way out it wasn’t what they expected (not particularly in a bad way).

I am going to see it on Tuesday evening with girlfriends I have known since kindergarten. I was born in the 50's and remember when an older friend got the first Barbie. I had a couple of Barbies, her little sister Skipper, her friend Midge and the fuzzy-haired Ken. I might have had the cardboard house, but didn't have a lot of outfits and accessories. I did buy myself the Lily Pulitzer Barbie about 10 years ago.
I am also watching the HGTV Barbie Dream House competition.

Oh god, no! I’m already for it to go away now. I can’t understand the hype for one minute. I know I’m in the minority, and I just have to own it. Ugh

We went Friday night - my daughter (who is going with friends again today), my dh and me. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Thought it was great fun.
eta: oh, and we're seeing Oppenheimer at 3 this afternoon.

He really enjoyed it - he's a dad of 4 girls and very much an "ally" in feminism so he found it amusing and fun. He didn't get all of the cultural references and was a little "hey, not all men are like that...." but still laughed a lot.

Ugh I think it may be very different than what you think it is. I was never a Barbie fan and I rolled my eyes hard when I first heard this was coming out but I saw it yesterday and thought it was pretty great.

We were out in the marina in San Francisco last night - there was a Barbie bar crawl - the entire area was flooded with thousands of people dressed up as Ken and Barbie - it was super fun.

Me!! Myself, my sister and my 2 God-daughters are going tomorrow. We have a whole Barbie themed day planned and I'm so excited. LOL
Everyone is meeting at my house. I've made Barbie themed bags for everyone. Each contains a Barbie t-shirt and Barbie earrings (costume) and some other misc Barbie stuff I've found (a small Barbie stationery set, a Barbie ID card case and a Barbie lip gloss).
We're all wearing pink outfits...probably all wear the t-shirts I put in the bags. First stop is the salon where we're getting Barbie manicures. My sister and I are planning on pink glittery polish while the girls want full on Barbie pink with decals/charms etc.
Next stop the movie. Can't wait to see it!
After the movie we're headed to the "mall". The plan is to buy all the Barbie stuff we like to then donate to a variety of children's charities. We're all looking forward to this...get to buy all the Barbie stuff and then make some kid's day..win/win!
Final stop of the day is Barbie tea. A local restaurant is offering a Barbie themed tea. All the items are pink and/or Barbie themed. It sounds like a lot of fun as we all enjoy a good afternoon tea in general.
I can't wait!😃 lol

I had Barbies growing up and must have played with them when I was young, but I really only remember playing with Skipper and my horses and the stable. In general, I just don't like dolls of any sort. I am all for any movie that does well and entertains people. I am all for any movie that is different than all of the superhero movies.
I am sure that many people will love it and it will be funny. It just isn't for me.

leannec Thank you for asking if anybody is excited about this, not for this. I find incorrect grammar as an attempt to be trendy irritating. At first, I had no interest (despite Ryan Reynolds, surprisingly). The more I see clips and discussions, the more appealing it's become. Add in Kate McKinnon? Sold--she's an amazing talent!

My 20 year old dd just asked me if I'd go with her. I almost fell over. She didn't play with them growing up. Then she said, "well, of course we'll have to wear pink." My mouth just fell open. Who is this girl? Of course I'll go. She leaves for college in two weeks and won't see her until Christmas, most likely. I even have my outfit picked out. Why not? I've heard good things about it but haven't read too much intentionally.

I just got back and thoroughly enjoyed it. ❤️❤️❤️
I will actually go see it in the theater again - I was with ds#2 and spent the first 20 minutes trying to get him calm and not have a meltdown. He did get engrossed too, so I was able to watch the rest of the movie without worry.
Kate McKinnon is a treasure. Helen Mirren as narrator was brilliant. And Rhea Perlman as Ruth Handler brought tears to my eyes.
I also kept thinking that all the butt-hurt white male snowflakes who want to push the lie that slavery benefited enslaved black people will be beyond offended by the dose of reality the movie brings to the topic of who has power in society.

I saw it Friday and thought it was great. The theatre had a life-size Barbie Box for photos which was fun. I was surprised at all of the small children in the audience, like early grade-school ages. I'm guessing they just enjoyed the colors and didn't really understand the plot.
