Hi everyone! As usual, I am getting ready to meet my mum at Denny's for breakfast before she goes to bingo. . I'm actually a bit hungry for a change so I might eat something this week instead of just having coffee like I did last week ... I have a few small household chores to accomplish today but nothing major ... It's going to be at least 31 degrees Celsius ... blech! My mum is coming over for dinner later ... my Hello Fresh box will be delivered today so we will have something from that! This is what I posted on Facebook today ... I don't miss toddler rage ... I love having adult kids! What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a relaxing Sunday everybody!

DH has gone to a car show with my brother so it’s just Walker and I here right now. Walker is laying on the bathroom floor register enjoying the central air. It already 27 degrees heading up to 30 degrees today. Too hot to do much of anything except sit still.
Not sure about supper yet. DH made a crock pot full of chilli yesterday. He froze most of it but has a container left out for his supper. I guess I’ll find something on my own since I don’t like chili.

DS and I went grocery shopping this morning and he suggested fish for dinner. He will pan fry the haddock outside on the grill burner (best invention ever!) We’ll have fries and a veggie with it.

Got our 2 mile walk in early. The baby shower yesterday was awesome. Being a CM consultant, my friend goes way overboard with the decorations and she didn't disappoint. She had saved a ton of her daughter's baby/toddler clothes and had them hanging from the curtain rod the length of her family room. Then she had a display of all her daughter's pictures wearing all those outfits! Plus all her little tea sets and other memorabilia. The food was delicious and the desserts were amazing. My car was 107 degrees when I got in it at 4PM. Dinner tonight will be Chicken Lombardy. We ended up having the strawberry/greens salad last night.

leannec your kids must not be bipolar because I'll tell you I'll take toddler rage over manic alcoholic rage any day of the week. What I experienced with Chloe was frightening. It's raining here today. Jeremy has been out there trying to golf this morning in it. I was just waiting for a pause to go to the pharmacy. I also have a book ready at the library I need to pick up but I might do that Tuesday. They will hold it until then. I put all these books on hold that were a variety of people ahead of me. And then this morning when I checked in to see which book was ready I realized I'm number 1 now on a whole bunch of them. So damn I better get reading. Jeremy and I are going to the market later. But for tonight I have chicken, acorn squash, and corn on the cob.

cadoodlebug Chloe's dog Finn lived here for nearly a week before I found him. He was a little 2 pound puppy and her and Esther were conspiring to take care of him without me noticing.

Does your library have the option of freezing a hold? As soon as I see I am next in line, I freeze the hold and *thaw* it when I'm almost ready for it. I discovered this a few years ago and wish I had known sooner.

It has been hot here as well - up to 28°C, though it is now starting to cool down a bit. We may even get some rain tonight. We've had a fairly normal Sunday - croissants from the local bakery for breakfast, church, then home for lunch. Lazy afternoon for me knitting and DH went to work to start clearing his office ahead of an impending office move - the whole company is moving to new premises in early September.
Dinner tonight is Thai beef salad, which Dh is preparing right now.

Thankfully they are not bipolar ... they do have depression (thanks to me!) but it is controlled ... Both are in really good places in their lives right now and so everyone is happy! I know that I am lucky!

I know that I am lucky! That is great and I totally didn't mean what I said as a complaint either. Thankfully with Chloe sober and taking her meds I have a whole different child now. So I'm glad your DDs are doing well. I know how hard it is when any one of a family is out of balance.

So maybe I'll get a little bit longer to read them.

leannec I'm with you, I love having adult kids much more than little ones. I do think I'll enjoy grandchildren - because I can eventually return them! - but I am definitely in no rush cadoodlebug that baby shower sounds super cute! More cleaning out the trailer here for me. It's not as hot today and it does look as though it may rain eventually. Dinner tonight is steak, probably mashed potatoes, mushrooms & salad

I had to get some gardening done this morning before it became too hot. I'm hitting the part of the season where it's hard to keep up and I feel like the weeds are winning! We have our double feature in a bit. We'll grab dinner out between Oppenheimer and Barbie. Stay cool everyone!

I had the most beautiful experience this am. I went to pick up my groceries. While waiting for curbside pickup an older gentleman was busking in the parking lot. He was a violinist. Normally, I'm irritated at people busking in grocery store parking lots, but he was a marvelous violinist. As I've mentioned before, my nephew is a violinist and is getting quite known amongst musicians. He had a solo at a very prestigious venue last week. So, I was kvelling(getting emotional w/pride)over my nephew. Anyway, I got out of my car and went over to put money in his violin case. I told him that my nephew was also a violinist and he told me that he used to be a violinist in his country. I thanked him for making my weekend and left the money. I'm a content auntie. Dinner is air fryer panko pork chop for dh and fresh salad stuff from the garden and wild rice.
I was a sahm and miss raising my kids, but I love having adults and more to the point, I love the me time!

I had the most beautiful experience this am. Thank you for sharing a wonderful experience! Back when my mom was a little girl, a man owed my grandpa money for coal he had delivered. The man didn't have the money but said he would give a violin lesson to one of my grandpa's daughters. They picked my mom. The man told my grandpa it was excruciating and he would pay for his goal in the future. Of course we all know how hard it is to learn the violin so it wasn't fair to base her talent on one lesson!

It's very rare to be able to play the violin in one lesson. The man clearly didn't know how to teach. My nephew picked up a violin and in that instant he was in love. Music is in his genes and my sister recognized it and immediately signed him up for lessons. That lead to his life long dream being realized.

In my family someone in each generation is a performer or artist. It's not a written rule, but just seems to be the case. I was the performer in my family. My ds is up for a job teaching social studies at a performing arts school. Go figure.

my husband and son went to oppenheimer. worth watching, not the greatest movie. fabulous acting from everyone. dh was particularly annoyed by the loud music over the speaking. they felt it could have been cut by an hour.. my husband knew one of the chief scientists at los alamos.. and from what the friend said, edward teller was just right in the movie. so worth seeing, not the best movie as a movie.

That lead to his life long dream being realized. "Back in my day" only the nerds played the violin. I was into rock music, and did not appreciate any instrument other than guitars, bass, drums, and keyboards. Then I got into folk rock, and now the violin is one of my favourite instruments to listen to. IT makes any song better. I even sit there playing the air violin, like a complete tosser, when a good song comes on!

Since my mother was a concert pianist we listened to classical and Broadway, since I was on stage. When she started to accompany me when I performed then we'd listen to a lot more Broadway. In high school I finally listened to rock and roll regularly, but to this day if you're riding in my car it's classical or Broadway. I'm a theater geek.
