Hey, hey, hey it's the last month of summer! I'm going to say something that's very controversial but time to start those Christmas gifts! 😂 No pressure! I'm counting and I've got three shawls outstanding right now and that Havana blanket. I pulled out the Havana and have been working on it. The baby is due in November and I want to get it done. 4 more sections and a border to go. We will head out to Ohio with the camper this weekend. Jeremy's family is having a big reunion. I can't decide if I should take one of my WIPs or a new project. (Tell me to take a WIP) My scrapbook is way behind. I need to make some headway with that this month too. What's everyone working on?

Hello jeremysgirl and all crafters! jeremysgirl, May I suggest you take a WIP with you on your travels? Thankfully I don’t make things for Christmas so I don’t have that pressure. I do fancy making a wreath mind you. That may come to fruition this year. I started the Renoirs Ripple blanket last week. finsup is doing that one too. I needed something where I’m not having to read a pattern every stitch and this has fit the bill perfectly. I know the pattern now and can just tootle along with it when I feel like it. It’s nice to just sit and do, rather than sit and think. I’ll take a photo when the light’s better. I’ll go back to the black and cream Christmassy Mood blanket when my brain kicks into gear.

Funnily enough, I was thinking over the weekend that now would be a perfect time to get a start on some Christmas cards. I've got 3 weeks before I have to go back to work. Why not?
I also got my crochet out and made 5 more squares last week, but I'm a bit more mobile now. I was considering making some candles, but I'm not up to standing for long yet, so that will have to wait. So cards it will have to be!

Here is a quilt I made for a friend who is remodeling a home to be used by visiting nurses. Rudy approves!

And also some buntings I'm making to sell. The first one is a beach theme and the other is Christmas. They are so easy to make and I think they are turning out great!

This is my Renoirs Ripple. It’s SO very different from my usual style but I really love it. I love the ease of the stitches and I love the colours which remind me of the Scottish countryside, heathers and bracken and wildflowers. I did not expect the colours to turn out like this and I’m delighted.

LOVE the crochet!
Summer is over and I head back with students tomorrow. Le sigh. I'm ready. My own kids went back to school last week. I have all new curriculum in biology and chemistry and Algebra 1. We are moving from integrated 1 math (2 semesters) to Algebra 1A (2 semesters) and Algebra 1b (2 semesters). That gives me more time to teach the same amount of material. I think it'll be good. I just have to figure out the how. Tomorrow is it. LOL. I think I'm ready. Or at least I'm as ready as I'll be. My room is set up. I had my donor's choose project for tables funded yesterday so the materials will be arriving over the next few days/week and my students can assemble them. I'm super excited to get them up and ready for the kids to use. They'll give us SO MUCH more space to work on!
Anyway- I haven't crafted much lately since I've been getting my classroom and curriculum sorted out.

Gosh seaexplore that seems early to go back to school. Have a great year! Some states go back super early. My niece had her open house on Monday and taught her first day on Tuesday of this week! It's her first year of teaching. But she grew up going back the first week of August so it's normal for her.

If I had a teacher like you in school, I might not have failed Algebra I. I had a wonderful teacher for Algebra II but I still have serious math anxiety. You are a treasure to your kids.

Oh wow, love that gillyp. Beautiful and looks so fun! marysue63 that quilt is beautiful. I am trying to pack up for my OH/MI trip. I got a new lap stand for my cross stitch, and I must tell you I am in LOVE. I has helped my hands SO much, and it has made cross stitch so enjoyable again. I am going to take that and some of my art stuff. Hubby will hold down the fort while I am gone.

gillyp - I love that! I officially retired August 1st - it still doesn’t seem real. So…I have time to craft now! I’m working on my friend’s crochet blanket (she purchased and picked out the yarn). I also have a shawl I want to finish up (I’m not loving the yarn or the pattern) and I just joined a dishcloth swap, so will be making some dishcloths this month too.

Thanks for sharing the link Patter. It is a really nice frame - my cross stitch projects are always the last thing I resort to doing simply because I find it kind of awkward. As she said in the video, a lot of us don't stitch with others so we don't compare notes on our techniques and tools. While I have spotted frames in stores, I really had no idea how they worked and they are often expensive so I never asked about them. I can see how this would make it more enjoyable to pull out my stitch projects.

I love how the colours blend like an impressionist painting, but still remain separate and not muddied looking.

We have been on a beach vacation in Bulgaria since last weekend, so no crafting has happened. I did bring my travel sock with me, but between day trips and hanging near the pool, nothing has been done. Heading home now - I can see our driver to the airport has just pulled up outside. Hopefully my knitting will survive Bulgarian airport security so I can knit on the way home.

gillyp I so love the colours, what yarn are you using? I'm working away on my quilt, the last block is issued in a few weeks, I'm working on the large dragonfly for the centre. There is a lot more hand sewing than I expected but I'm enjoying it.

I have learned SO much even though I have been stitching since the 1970s. Eeek! Anyway, it truly has made a world of difference. The investment was worth it!
