Like you’re planning a trip to a resort and you read all the reviews? And then of course you read a bad one sandwiched between good ones and you think the place you’ve settled on isn’t right maybe 🤣
Currently looking at a resort in Samana, Dominican. Has anybody stayed at Viva V Samana by Wyndham?
Reviews are mostly amazing and then you get one that the food sucked and the place was loud.
But adult only, less than 200 rooms, private plunge pool in the room that fits our budget…..sounds amazing!

I read the negative reviews more than the good reviews. If what the reviewer is complaining about is something that wouldn’t bother us, I ignore it. I also tend to look only at places with at least 4 stars.
Have a great time!

It's 21 km from the airport so there won't be a long bus ride.
Are you looking at the Air Transat package?
I've been to Punta Cana, Porta Plata and Santo Domingo but not that part of the island.

I have been on Trip Advisor a lot lately. We are going on a winter vacation with some friends of ours and were trying to find an all inclusive that works for all of us. You’ll read four reviews where people rave about the food and then the fifth will say it sucked. We booked a place in Puerto Vallarta and went with one that consistently got rave reviews for the beach and property and mostly positive reviews on the food. We weren’t sure where we should go at first, but we’re all fans of the show Acapulco on Appletv. They film right outside of Puerto Vallarta and it is beautiful. So we checked it out and it turns out that there are multiple direct flights from Minneapolis to Puerto Vallarta during the winter and we all thought it seemed like a good deal. Had we not had the Acapulco tv show influence we’d probably still be trying to figure out where to go. We are not staying at the resort where they filmed, but we’re close to it. Had we stayed there we would have all wanted to just hang out in the laundry room with Memo.

Yes - I much prefer Air Transat to the other companies. And Transat is one of the few who fly right into Samana instead of Peurto Plata 5 hours away…. A friend highly recommends Samana - it is beautiful and not as popular.

It's good to be close to the airport, especially for the return trip. If the flight is delayed, you get to stay at the resort a bit longer as the drive is short.
This looks like a beautiful property. Enjoy!

I do get obsessed with trip advisor and any other site I can find addressing any aspect of an upcoming trip.
I don’t worry too much about random negative reviews if there are mostly positive reviews. Some people will complain about anything!

Some people specialize in complaining, even when things are great to everyone else around them.
ETA: We're going to Club Med Miches next month on our delayed honeymoon (there was no way we were up to planning one more thing last November!). Its our first visit to the DR.

I use to love trip advisor but it doesn’t seem to have more recent reviews anymore. I was wondering if there’s a better travel info website these days.

I read reviews but I don't let single outliers bother me. I look more for trends across reviewes
