I signed up with Lucky Seats pre-pandemic trying for Hamilton tickets, which I never won.
I forgot about it until they emailed me a couple of weeks ago re: Moulin Rouge at the Kennedy Center. I entered the lottery and won! Only $45 per ticket - which includes fees. My son and I are waiting to go in now.
We went to see Wicked 2 days before the world shut down in 2020, and haven’t been back to the theater since. I can’t wait!
So, PSA: check to see if Lucky Seats has a lottery going on for musicals near you! It isn’t just for Hamilton.

That is awesome! I just bought Sweeney Todd tickets (I had them for March but my kid got sick), and . . . wow some theater tickets are expensive now!

It was so. much. fun! ❤️❤️❤️ I was addicted to the film and the soundtrack of the film when it first came out in 2001. I played the album over and over and over while scrapbooking in 2001-2003. I was a CTMH consultant at the time and scrapped quite a bit for swaps, demos, etc. I was pleased to see/hear that there was quite a lot of music in the musical that is much more recent than 2001! My son loved it too. I would go to more theater except that, bizarrely, DC doesn’t get everything in a timely fashion and because the Kennedy Center is pretty much the main theater, shows that do make it can be quite costly.

Wow, what a great price! I’ll have to check out Lucky Seats. Right now we have tickets for Wicked on our anniversary this December and a Cirque show later this year. It’ll be the first time we’ve been to the theater since a Harry Connick Jr show, a day before everything shut down. I haven’t even seen the movie Moulin Rouge, but after hearing all the praise about the show I think I’ll do that before a traveling show comes to Texas. We’re saving a lot of our entertainment budget for a family vacation next year so are trying to be super good about buying tickets for events, but if the prices are that low I am in!
Did you ever get to see Hamilton? It was on Disney+ for a while. And now I’m in the mood to watch it again!
Has anyone seen Clue? What did you think? We are mostly fans of musicals, but we saw a comedy for the first time as part of our 2018/2019 season ticket package and really enjoyed it. (I recommend The Play That Goes Wrong). So now we’re open to other genres.

I did get to see Hamilton in person, in Philadelphia because it was less expensive to see it there and pay for gas and a hotel for a night. ❤️❤️❤️ I will still try to see it again in person when I can. Seeing Moulin Rouge today reminded me of how much I love live musical theater. The movie gives you the background on the story (simple romance story, not anything complex). The musical follows the storyline, and includes most of the music, but includes quite a bit more popular music that has come out in the past 22 years.

I’m so glad you got to see it! Wow, tickets must be crazy expensive at The Kennedy Center. If it starts touring again and comes to our area we are definitely going. I do think I’ll watch it, I find I enjoy the musical so much more if I know a lot of the songs. I’m a bit hard of hearing so everything makes more sense. I just checked though and if it’s traveling it’s not coming to Texas in the upcoming season. Boo.

I'm pretty much guaranteed to get a ticket with Lucky Seats with our local touring productions if I enter several dates. Most shows run for two weeks here and few sell out. I use lucky seats for the shows I can take or leave--or that I have already seen--in case the seats aren't great. We saw Moulin Rouge on tour a few weeks ago and it was great! I bought those seats directly from the venue because I wanted to be close enough to see the costuming. dewryce DH and DD saw Clue and enjoyed it. I don't remember where I was and why I didn't go! elaine I've seen shows at the National Theater and Ford's. I think the National is where a fair number of shows are workshopped before they hit Broadway. I saw Fun Home there and I'm pretty sure it was right before it hit Broadway. You might hit on a gem there!
