Because of weather or other situations?
This has not been a great summer weather wise and natural catastrophe wise for my area. Between freezes, mini (really mini compared to most areas) extreme heat (for our area), so many storms, and so much flooding the summer has seemed to pass without being able to do many of the fun summer activities that we are use to. I have not been able to kayak much and get to our camp for fun summer days on the pond, hikes, exploring and relaxing. It was also not a great summer for the many outdoor events and festivals that we have here. The fresh produce and fruits have been delayed or not readily available which has also been a bummer.
I love fall (my favorite) and I am usually ready for it before it gets here. This year, however, it feels like it has been a flat and worrisome summer with all that is going on. Hopefully the tides will turn for the last few weeks and I can get my fill of nice summer days and night before there is not a chance for them to happen. š
I was just talking with a friend about this and we both commented that we hadnāt seen any hot air balloons flying this summer, which we typically do. Coming home from my parentās house last night I saw one. We have more heavy rain (we surrender š³ļø) and storms the next few days and then hopefully we can get a bit of summer.
With the extreme heat, fires, and extreme storms have you felt like you had a normal summer doing the activities you enjoy?

Our weather has been very nice so far. DH had shoulder replacement surgery in the spring. It was originally scheduled for December so he could recuperate during the winter but had to be delayed due to other medical concerns. So he wasn't off his lifting restrictions until early July. That meant more yard work for me and no travel for us. We are planning to go to the beach in the fall. I prefer spring rather than playing dodge the hurricanes. All-in-all though, he recovered and it has been a very nice spring and summer here.

Between my mom being in the hospital/rehab for the last 10 weeks and rain every weekend in July, Iāve barely done anything fun this summer. Sorry about raining on your fluff post. ETA: That balloon picture is stunning.

To me fluff is just normal everyday conversation be it good, bad, funny, or just general chatter. Vent and post away anything at any time. š The board is slow and am just trying to add some non political conversations and general threads into the mix. š

Nothing to bad here, normal summer except a lot of rain. Not anything that is catastrophe, just a lot of rain, which I welcome with open arms. We are usually dry as a bone now. So our summer has been pretty normal. OH, we have only taken our ATVs out once (and I didn't go) but due to the rain we haven't taken them out.

It hasnāt been a typical summer weather wise at all. The wildfire smoke from Canada has been awful. Weāve also had excessive heat, the humidity lately has been just gross, occasional heavy rain/thunderstorms with wind that has taken down trees or large limbs of trees, and we went from late spring snow straight into 80Ā°+ so itās been weird. Normally by this time of year weāve been swimming in the lake dozens of times, this year I think DH and DD went once and I havenāt been in a single time. We did go swimming with the neighbors in their pool one day when it was 90Ā°+. Itās just been a not awesome time to be outside.

We donāt really do sun and I am very sensitive to heat and humidity. Living in South Central Texas that means my summer has looked the same as always. 63-65 degrees and dry. eta: We decided last year was our last to join the summer camping trip his family usually takes, we were both miserable to the point of almost being sick and just did not enjoy it. So I guess we missed that; but didnāt miss it! But the entire extended family decided on Disney next July and I suspect that will be the last time so many of us get together so we will be going there, I see a lot of mid-day breaks in our hotel room in our future.

The weather has been awful here, so much rain so I havenāt gotten to enjoy the pool much. Then, I unexpectedly bought a new house so between getting my house ready to list and packing/making arrangements for the new house means any spare time has been tied up with that. Then my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer so I will be heading there shortly for her surgery/recovery. We were supposed to be on vacation in Ontario this week but decided to stay home instead to do more packing so I can spend time with Mom and not be stressed about getting it all done. All that being said, we take possession of the new house on August 31 so Iām looking forward to decent weather to enjoy thisā¦

It's been so hot for the past two weeks (over 100) and it doesn't look like there is any end in sight. It's been too hot to do anything outside including swimming because the pool is so hot.
I'm so ready for fall but that won't be here until at least the end of October!

We typically eat dinner out on our deck most nightsāthis summer, between rain, heat/humidity, and Canadian smoke, weāve done this maybe 4 nights. Same for eating out and eating and having drinks outside.

We have had a great summer weatherwise, but it has not been relaxing at all.
Trying to catch up on all the dentist/eye appointments, one kid chipped a tooth, other kid broke her glasses, tires for the car, in-laws randomly visiting at the last minute, broken appliances, two (in-town) college orientations, teaching the oldest to drive, and high school sports unofficially started today so staying home all day in my pajamas has basically not happened.
Today: taking the oldest child to get a checking account... Tomorrow taking her sister to get a cavity filled, Thursday taking my mom to get cataract surgery, and the list goes on.

Yay I saw one. šš This reminds me that I havenāt seen any hot air balloons this summer and usually we see a lot. There is a place near us that takes them up on weekends so it isnāt uncommon for us to see 5-6 of them at once most weekends when the weather is nice so itās really weird to not see any.

We have had such crappy weather (I never before kept a sweatshirt in my closet in the summer), cold and a lot of rain. So it hasn't felt like summer. It's been so gloomy and I feel that it really affects my mood. I love summer so much and to feel like I missed out on what I love about summer.

Ironically I was woken up by a hot air balloon flying near our house this morning. I love watching them in the morning.
We havenāt done much of anything. Hot weather and not feeling well has kept me from doing much. Itās always hot here but it effects me more than it used to.

Sitting on the front porch. June is usually really nice for mornings and evenings, but the wildfire smoke kept us inside. Then the heat and humidity kicked in. It was only 70 when I got up this morning, so I had my coffee in my rocking chair. It was lovely!

May and June were rainy and we had smoke for a few days from Canada. All of that rain brought cooler weather (yay!) and the number of wildfires in our state and the smoke that usually brings has been greatly diminished. Also yay! We spend a fair amount of time on our back patio where we have three air chairs. Evenings have been amazing even though I have suffered more mosquito bites due to the rain. I can't think of much that we've missed due to the rain though. I will say that all of the rain has brought lots more weeds though.

My cancer diagnosis 6 weeks ago messed up the family birthday celebrations (I wasn't so unhappy to be missing some of them!) and time in the garden.
It's funny about the weather. Where I live in the UK, in the last 10 years, almost all of them have been nice weather in April, May and June, then rubbish in July and August, and nice again in September. Only 1 year had a dry August. I feel so sorry for teachers and families with school-aged children. Not only do they have to pay an arm and a leg for breaks simply because it's school holidays, but then the weather is awful. And it's not easy keeping youngsters entertained when they can't go out.

I miss the sun and blue skies. It's either smokey or cloudy and rainy. I'm missing out long summer days since it's so dark out and I have to have the lights on in the house so much, or so early in the evening.

I've had health issues that have made me unable to drive and mostly kept housebound, so I've missed a lot this summer including my DDs Master's Graduation and our family trip to FL had to be cancelled. I'm doing much better and now that I feel my summer is just beginning it also feels like summer is over. So we've got a lot going on in the next month or so to make up for lost time. A birthday party for an old friend this weekend, my DD's big grad party 2 weeks later, the following week our family vacation to FL, and the week after that spending a few days at the lake with my siblings and their spouses. I'm so thankful to be able to do these things now!

Summer in Texas is always hot but this has been one of those record-breaking years. Every day we have excessive heat warnings and fire weather warnings and it's just been beyond normal and beyond miserable. We usually spend our summer weekends in our pool and grilling. We have hardly been out this year because as crazy as it sounds, it's too hot to get in the pool. The water is very warm. You can't touch anything outside because it's all too hot and burns. I have been keeping all the blinds in the house closed and I'm starting to feel like I live in a tomb. I'm just tired of all of it and there's no end in sight. So, pretty much, I miss everything this summer because we just stay inside and try to keep cool.
