I'm already working on my vacation for next summer. I like a particular type of room and they are often the first to go so I book way way ahead. Right now I have us spending 6 nights in Medora. At the Rough Riders Hotel. I do not like to rush. I want to enjoy the hotel, the national park, the local attractions and surrounding area. I want to take one day to drive to the Northern part of the National Park. Should I add on one more night? TIA.

I live in ND and feel anything over 2 nights is too much for Medora so 6 nights leaves me wondering how you will fill all that time?

I live in ND and feel anything over 2 nights is too much for Medora so 6 nights leaves me wondering how you will fill all that time? That's what I am wondering. I'm figuring one day being lazy at the hotel reading and walking around shops, one day driving to the northern unit, one afternoon seeing the Teddy Roosevelt show, one evening seeing Medora musical and steak fondue. I also want to see the ND Cowboy Hall of Fame. Then there is tea (lemonade) in the afternoon with Edith Roosevelt (aka: costumed guide) to hear about her marriage and family. We don't play golf but I can see going over to the Bully Pulpit Club House for lunch and sitting on the veranda looking at the scenery for an hour or two. Now that you have some idea of what I want to do, is it still too much time there. We are 69 and 71 so we're not as quick as we used to be. Also I don't like to be on the go all the time. Thanks. Also, do you have other ideas of what we should see in North Dakota. We'll be coming from the east. (from Minneapolis.)

Since you'll be out that way, you should drive the Enchanted Highway. It's a section of highway off I-94 at exit 72 and goes 32 miles. It is full of gigantic metal sculptures. There is one of flying geese on I-94, where it begins, that is beautiful. But I'm partial to geese, they remind me of my DS.
Are you planning a stop at Jamestown, ND where the white buffalo was? There is a small old-time village to explore and a museum.
Have a fun and safe trip!

We’re on our way out there now. (Driving from ME) We’re staying 2 days. We are going to stay 2 nights in Bismarck on the way in, but that will not be 2 full days. We’re planning to go in a riverboat Cruise (sunset) because I think that will be cool. We are going to Jamestown to see the giant bison statue, and look for the albino bison in the field below, as someone already mentioned. We will walk around the Frontier Village. I think we’re going to go to the ND Heritage center and state museum. In Medora, we’re doing the pitchfork fondue, but not the musical. I’m hearing impaired, so musicals aren’t my thing. We’re going to a rodeo Friday night. Also, we will be walking around the village. We will also be going into Roosevelt NP, and driving around (no hiking). We’re planning on driving the Beartooth HWY while out there , too.

OP, all of that sounds very interesting. I’m definitely a TR nerd. I’ve read so many biographies of him, and watched every documentary I could find. Fascinating man.

I have always loved history, so please tour the Chateau de Moses.
