My DD is moving just an hour away this weekend (to South Orange County). She literally just got her drivers license last week, and my DH is joking (I think) that she can commute to school. I'm like nope - there is no way I want a brand new driver sitting for an hour (to 90 minutes) 5 days a week. Or maybe it's because her driving still makes me very nervous. And of course, now I'm regretting that I didn't make her do enough around the house. I guess she'll learn?

We moved dd into her apartment on Saturday. She's going into her sophomore year. She actually went back 1.5 weeks earlier though for work week and the recruitment for her sorority. When she left that Wed night, I cried. But I was good Sat. We got there a few hours before her because it was bid day and she was busy with that. It all came together nicely.
She is rooming with her roommate from last year and then 2 other girls they met in their dorm. It's a 4x4 and really nice. It's only the 2nd year it's been open, so still pretty new. They had their first class today and got the professor they were hoping for (they are 2nd year Architect students and this was their Studio professor).
Looking forward to a great year for her!

When we went to orientation, the parents were told to spend the rest of the summer teaching our kids how to cook, clean, and do laundry. Ds had one roommate freshman year who didnt know how to do any of those things and constantly needed coaching on all of them. It was a burden the roommates didnt need. They didnt mind the first time or two, but then it became annoying. So, as long as your dd can clean and do laundry, she should be fine. (Ds' dorm had a kitchen, but if that guy didnt want to cook, he could always use campus dining service so that wasnt a huge deal)

We drop my oldest and only DD at school the day after tomorrow, Aug 16. I think we finally managed to buy just about everything so now it's a matter of her packing it all up. She's going to University of Northern Colorado, about 1.5 hours away. She's my sidekick too and I'm going to miss her so darn much but I think the separation will be easier for me because she's spent the past 2 summers working up in the mountains at a Girl Scout camp, so I'm accustomed to her not being home. That doesn't mean I LIKE it--but I'm used to it. My girl is independent and confident and fun and I just know she is going to have the best time at college!

Hey everyone! Anyone else getting close to sending your child off to college? My oldest is moving in to Oklahoma State on Wednesday. He worked his last day today and will be home tomorrow working on getting everything ready to go. He’s so excited, but I can’t believe it’s here. I’m very excited to see what fun things he has in store for him. College was the best 4 years of mine and DH’s life. I am definitely going to be sad to lose my side kick. Out of my 2 boys my oldest is the one always up to go places and shop with me. Anyone else about to send kids off? My daughter will be a senior! Go Pokes!🤠

One of the Mom's traveled 2 hrs one way to wash her dd's clothes. After a few weeks, my dd held an impromptu class on how to wash clothes. Jennifer
