So AussieMeg and I have been chatting about making travel videos, as we are both in the midst of documenting our travels. I've shared several videos here in the past, and I guess I've fallen behind because I have 3 completed videos I've never shared, plus one more currently in the works! We've been fortunate to have a busy travel year, making up for the travel time we lost during Covid. Here are 3 of the last 4 trips we've taken over the span of the past ~13 months. With our oldest off to university next month, we were really happy to squeeze in some big family adventures before scheduling becomes more difficult for us. Without further ado - here are our takes on visiting Egypt, Italy, and Brazil. I hope you enjoy.

Yay, thank you, I can't wait to watch them! I am heading out to dinner soon, but this will be my Friday night viewing when I get back.
The only thing I'm worried about, is whether watching your videos makes mine look really bad hahaha! You're a seasoned veteran and I am just a novice.

Ugh, I've only watched the first three minutes of Egypt, and already I want to change the whole introduction on mine!

Sometimes I see other travel videos on Youtube and (especially when it's a place we've already been) I think - now why didn't *I* think to film that? Lol.

tallgirl I forgot to come back to this thread after watching the videos. They are all amazing, as always. I noticed a few new techniques that you're using, and now I want to try them on mine. I love your narration. And speaking of narration, I ended up buying a microphone from Amazon. It arrived yesterday, and it took me a while to get it working - it wasn't co-operating with my MacBook. So now my plans for the weekend include re-recording all of the narration on my hour long Thailand video! 🤪 I am looking forward to seeing your Japan video when it's done. Oh, and can I just say..... how gorgeous are your kids?! And Mallory's hair is to die for! 🤩

excited to take a peek at these as my DD and I are planning a trip to Europe in 2025 - no firm destination yet but I'm thinking that watching your videos will help us nail it down!

Hope you’re having fun with it and making good progress with the microphone… and that you’ll post here when you’re done! (I showed Mallory your comment about her hair and she’s flattered. She really did luck out!) @tallgirl can I ask ya a question.. do you all work in the travel industry or just blessed to be able to take such wonderful trips?? Cause I would like to be your kid.. even if I am older than you hahaha I would love to work in the travel industry, but I don’t. Travel is just our big splurge in life. We live in a modest house, drive older cars, don’t eat out very much, etc. so we can prioritize a couple of big trips every year. These last few years we have done more than our usual amount of travelling due to the time we lost (and money we saved) during the Covid shutdowns and our oldest going off to school this fall. Our plan was to travel now with our kids, even if that means working longer or travelling less on our own once we retire. They know how lucky they are!

Our plan was to travel now with our kids, even if that means working longer or travelling less on our own once we retire. I admire and envy you. I prioritised sending the kids to private schools for 13 years each, which meant we had no money for overseas trips. I kind of regret that choice now. My kids are 18 and 25, and now that we are finally able to afford a family trip, they're both working full time and living their own lives. Your kids are so fortunate, and I'm glad they appreciate it. ❤️

AussieMeg private school is a big investment in your kids, and I’m sure they appreciate that, too! Everything is a trade-off; we never considered private school for our kids, but maybe they would have been better off if we had. We’ll never know, just like the myriad of other life choices we’ll never see play out because we all only get one path to follow. Don’t second guess yourself! I’m sure you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.
