I saw that this morning, so interesting. Lovely colour Yes. When I first saw the headline I expected it to be blonde. Instead it is the color of the spots. I guess it is more like a one giant spot giraffe. They are having a contest to name them.

Awww, what a fun coat. Our zoo has a huge herd of giraffes. The giraffes come right up to you to eat out of your hands. They've had over 200 births. Would love to see one without spots.

She is a she...
The spotless giraffe was born at Brights Zoo in Limestone, Tennessee, on July 31 and the zoo says experts believe she is the only solid-colored reticulated giraffe on the planet.
On Monday, the zoo said it had narrowed down the naming contest list to four choices: Kipekee, which means unique; Firyali, which means unusual or extraordinary; Shakiri, which means "she is most beautiful"; and Jamella, which means "one of great beauty.
I pick Jamella!

Bright Zoo is about 20 minutes from where I live. We are planning on going there this weekend and hope to see her. My grandson is so excited to go back again.

She's gorgeous! I wasn't sure what to expect when I clicked on the link, but I wasn't expecting such a beautiful color, or such an even color, if that makes sense. I was wondering if she'd be more mottled as opposed to spotted, I guess.

I was rather annoyed to have someone from our Knoxville Zoo tell us the only way a giraffe could be born spotless is through non traditional breeding (or as he said inbred). It totally takes away from the cuteness.

No, she is just cute. I do think quality zoos monitor their charges very carefully to avoid problems. I have no doubt they have already done DNA testing. needmysanity

Every time I see this I am thinking, who cleaned it? Why was it dirty? Is this a technique for cleaning large herbivores I need to know more about?
And I click every. Single. Time. Obviously my brain is not registering any of it and I bet I'll fall for it again if it's bumped in a few weeks. Lolol 🤣
Memory pathways can be weird!
