Hi everyone! Well, I'm going to the school like normal on Monday ... nod and smile and see what happens ... I have some documentation that proves my principal did not really follow proper protocol when choosing this crazy job assignment for me ... a framework from the school board of how things are supposed to happen ... I'll refer her to that and see what she says. I'm trying to just not think about it today ... I was at a Barbie exhibition and entertainment thing last night with Emma and Molly ... it was fun! I won't post a bunch of photos but if you are FB friends with me, there are more there. "Hi, Barbie!" My mum is coming over in a few hours for lunch ... not sure what we'll have ... My girlfriend is coming over for dinner and Netflix ... we will have a shrimp in cream sauce with pasta dinner thing ... it's totally yummy! How is everyone feeling today? How about your significant others? I think it is supposed to be about 25 degrees Celsius here today ... dry as usual ... what about your neck of the woods? Oh, I forgot to mention ... my ex is getting married today! . Both dd's are in the wedding ... I am looking forward to seeing photos ... I spoke to him last week when I got rid of my car and wished him the best What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

Just a normal Saturday here. We slept a bit late, as DH was out late last night and I wasn’t completely asleep when he got home, so I didn’t settle again for a bit. Grocery shopping this morning, then an IKEA run after lunch to replace the seat cushions on our dining room chairs. DH dropped me off about 1km from home, so that I could walk and get my exercise in for the day. I was a bit worried as I walked as the sky was getting darker and the wind a bit cooler, but I’d didn’t rain while I was out. Now we have the afternoon football on TV and it definitely feels like the heavens are going to open full force any minute now. At least it is much cooler today - top of 25C - and this is the start of a run of cooler days, albeit with a fair bit of rain.
Oops, forgot about dinner plans. DH is making beef rouladen, with mashed potatoes and vegetables cooked under the rouladen. We are making the most of the cooler days to vary our menu a bit!

Leanne you look so cute in your Barbie box. I'm sure work will get sorted. It might take a few days but you'll get in there and do a good job.
I'm thankful because the climate is milder here this week too. In fact, I'm wearing yoga pants today which is a change from my sleeveless dresses.
Jeremy is out working on the camper. And I am printing photos right now. Plan to scrapbook today.
We have some chicken and some potatoes and some questionable vegetables. I'll put something together.

We are going to my sister-in-law's for a deck party today with DH's extended family. Two of his cousins are in town for the weekend from WA state so we don't get to see them much, and they're staying the weekend at SIL & BIL's house so they took the opportunity for a cookout! BIL is a grilling master and they have a great deck and beautiful garden so we are really looking forward to it! Not even sure what we are having, except that I made a veggie tray with ranch dip (boring but a family favorite) and DH made his famous (in our fam at least) chocolate chip cheesecake. I'm sure that whatever my BIL throws on the grill will be fantastic...no one ever lacks for food at any of the scrappinwithoutpeas family gatherings, LOL. ...except the one time when we were at a similar gathering when DS was about 8. I thought he ate, because there was plenty of food there and he typically ate pretty much constantly at that age, but we got home around 8-9 PM and he asked me what was for dinner. He apparently spent the whole time running around with his cousins and never ate any of the dinner that was provided at the gathering...he has since learned his lesson LOL. ETA: I love the Barbie box pic, leannec ! Good luck on Monday!

leannec , that picture is priceless. What a great photo. Dh is feeling better today and his temp is not as high. Hopefully, this is the start of a healing trend. I took a step back, but that's probably part of this thing. It's OLD. My posts each morning consist of Rinse. Lather. Repeat! Grrrr. Enjoy today and make the most of your weekend, my tribe.

It's going to be in the mid-90s the entire week. I guess it's better than the low 100s! We just got back from our walk and it was getting warm. I will continue to work on my memory book for my SIL. Her daughter has promised to email me some pictures so I hope she follows through. Dinner is up in the air.

leannec love your Barbie box picture. I'm trying to get as much as I can get done today because I have to work the next three days and then Wednesday I have the movers coming to pick up our stuff. These last days are creeping up on me. Today we are having a salad with shrimp.

Hi friends! Mostly lazy Saturday here. I slept in, so grocery shopping will wait til tomorrow, but I do have the thrill of cleaning the bathroom today. 🙄
Dinner tonight will be salmon, rice, and a spinach salad. Nothing exciting, really.
DH is having a root canal and 2 crowns next week, so we'll have chicken and biscuits for dinner so he can have something soft.
I'm in my BFF's wedding next Sunday, and already told her about DH's tooth woes, so he may not wish to stay for a long time at the reception.

I am just back from First Baptist, it is my volunteer saturday, we fed a lot of folks a yummy lunch today😊
I have chicken breasts leftover from a costco chicken so I am slicing them up and putting some of my red sauce from the freezer over them and shredded mozzarella and baking them till the cheese melts....I have some fresh pasta to serve with. Hopefully there will be enough leftover for tomorrow night!!
I am doing some scrapbooking with the rest of my afternoon, I am making a sn@p album for the pix from the road trip I took with kelleeM back in 2022. Yup I am up to date with my scrapping 🤣🤣🤣🤣

DH and I went into the city this morning to buy some cool wood so he could make charcuterie boards for DDILs and SIL for Christmas. While looking around, I spotted 3 already made boards for $20 each. DH said he couldn’t make them for that so I bought them and saved him a lot of work. He had one board already at home so he’s going to make one for us. We also picked up some fresh fruit and other snacks at the market and then stopped for fries from the food truck.
It’s so nice to be able to leave Walker at home without being in his crate for a couple hours. He’s so good. We are going to attempt leaving him out of the crate during the night at some point soon but I’m not quite there yet. I’m sure he’d be fine but I worrying about getting up in the night to pee and tripping over him in the hallway.
The rain has stopped and the temps are way more comfortable. I’m actually sitting in the deck wearing yoga pants and a hoodie. Loving this cooler weather.
Supper tonight is grilled burgers for DH and chicken fettuccine Alfredo for me. We both bought our favourites at the market this morning.

Today I learned how to use a long-arm quilting machine and I completed 3 quilts 2 were smaller ~ 1 is a baby quilt that used a charm package and the other one is a Christmas wall-hanging. The last one is a child's bed quilt so not so small. I learned to load the machine, do the basting and then use the pattern and go across the quilt with the same pattern. I used a larger scribble on 2 and a more decorative on on the wall-hanging. It is very inexpensive as the one time fee to learn is $100. and then the hourly use of the machine is only $25.00 I can now use this machine for $25./hour. I completed these 3 quilts in under 3 hours, so less than $75.00. I brought my own cut batting and the backing as well as the quilt and she provided the thread and machine & stitching patterns. Why would I want to spend the money and purchase my own machine at this price? Plus I don't have the room. I picked up a sub from Firehouse Subs for dinner. Now I have to cut the quilts to size and get the binding sewn on. Great to have some handwork to do in the evening.

We are going to attempt leaving him out of the crate during the night at some point soon but I’m not quite there yet. We always kept Kellie in his crate overnight. It was his safe space and he always went in willingly at the end of the night. Never made a peep until DH let him out in the morning. Just something to consider.

Wow quiltz I am so jealous. I would glad pay $100 to learn and then $25 per hour to quilt my stuff. I think that is a steal. And you get the satisfaction of saying that you made it yourself start to finish. Why this is a big deal I'm uncertain but I've seen a few quilt police out there in the wild. 😂 Sounds like a good way to spend an afternoon. Are you going to post them on the craft thread?

taylortroop that's wonderful. I wish we could do that with ours but he stills eats non food items. He does sleep on our bed but if he wants to go down we crate him. And he seems to like it. Right now with the cone he can't go in the crate so we baby gate him in a safe area of the bedroom. scrapmaven Looking at your post yesterday I hope his sats improved? If not I hope he gets checked out. Tonight I will make tostadas. Other than that just laundry and crossing things off my to do list. destined2bmom praying all is well. leannec love the picture

cadoodlebug: Thanks for the feedback. I would have no problem leaving Walker crates at night. He knows when I say “it’s bedtime”, he goes into the crate willingly and also doesn’t make a noise until DH lets him out in the morning. Definitely can’t complain about that. The only benefit of not crating him at night would be to be able to get ride of the crate (it’s an XL one as he’s so big) because it takes up so much space in the livingroom.

leannec I love that pic of you! It looks like you had a great time Our dog used to sleep in her crate every night too, long after she was fine to leave out during the day when we weren't home. That was just part of the bedtime routine Today is mostly a lazy day. Did some laundry & a bit of cleaning, and then spent some time helping dh with the projects he was convinced he needed to get done. Dinner is going to be a hello fresh meal, most likely beef & bean chili There is a local buskers festival this weekend and dh mentioned maybe we could go, but seeing how tired he's getting from doing his projects I'm going to convince him we should just stay home. We can catch it next year when he's feeling better

We had a large laundry room that Kellie's small crate fit in perfectly. Funny story: DH always got up first, let Kellie out and they went outside to get the morning paper. I came down stairs one morning about 30 minutes later and walked into the kitchen and asked DH where Kellie was. DH kind of looked at me then said Sh*t, I didn't let him out of his crate. That sweet boy was sitting there waiting patiently to be let out ~ never made a sound as DH walked right by him ~ twice!

Marina , thank you for thinking about my hubby. He's much more alert today. I think we both may be on the road to recovery. (Knocks wood!) quiltz , I don't know anything about quilting, but would a quilting machine like a Serger do the same job? Though, I've heard that Serger is very expensive. Quilting sounds like a fun hobby, but I'm very bad at sewing. So, I like to see other people's work.
cadoodlebug, Kellie was a very lucky little doggie to live in your forever home. I know that you miss him, so much.

No, a serger mainly stitches an overlock stitch and has a sharp knife that cuts the excess fabric from the seam, such as the seams in a t-shirt or sweatshirt. Sergers can also do fine hem-rolling for dinner napkins or tablecloths. A long-arm quilting machine are large, room size and you need a lot of room to walk around them as you load the top (the stitched together fabric, the quilt batting and the backing fabric. This needs to be straight and taunt. Then there is a pattern that uses a scroll or a computer generated pattern. Some are more complex (& Expensive). The smaller units are about $3-$6,000.00 and the more complex ones usually start at about $10,000. Not a cheap hobby. Some people will *quilt* the fabric and charge between 25Cents per square inch and go up in price. I don't have the space nor the funds for a long arm quilting machine. Some people do quilt their quilts on a regular sewing machine. There isn't a lot of room between the needle and the rest of the machine. Something for everyone! My quilts are posted (for 30 days) on the August craft thread. 30 days because I don't want to take up too much digital space on this message board.
