I wouldn’t be able to get the lug nuts off, but otherwise I know HOW to do it. We have roadside assistance through our insurance so if DH couldn’t come help me, I’d call that 1-800 number.

I know how but wouldn't. I would call the Genesis concierge service to take care of it.

I know how, but probably couldn't because of the lug nuts.
My DD can not only change a tire, she changes her own oil, flushed her tranmission, fixed her exhaust, and I don't know what else!

It's been a hot minute but I can. DD is a beast changing a tire. I had one coming home from a concert about 3 months ago. DD was following me in her car. She parked and came back to me. She was done in 10 minutes. We solved the lugnut problem with me standing on the wrench to get it started.

Nope. Never have, and never will. That's what AAA is for. 100% this

Haven't changed a tire in quite a few years but when I did I used to just stand or bounce on the lug wrench to break the lug nuts free. This is what I did, my legs are so much stronger than my arms! But it’s been a while and as mom said, DH would rather I call for help so I don’t hurt my back. But if I needed to I could, though I’d want to check the vehicle manual to verify where the jack goes. Now, I’d be more hesitant to jump a car. I’d do it…with Google’s help. But when I was in high school my mom and boyfriend set my car on fire trying to jump it so I’ve been paranoid since then.

To add to my earlier post. When I was younger there were no cell phones, therefore no calls for help. You had a choice, change it or sit and wait for who knows who would show up. And waiting on a dark country road was far from safe.

I have never changed a tire. I did learn, once upon a time, when I first started driving. But it was one of those "Watch & learn" lessons, as opposed to a hands-on lesson, so between the time gone by & the fact that I didn't actually practice back then, I doubt I could do it now. I realize in this case there wasn't time to wait for AAA, but for myself, that's still the solution I would rely one---calling AAA.

I have done it, but if I was on a super busy highway, I would not want to.
When I had a GS troop, I made sure all of the girls learned how to. They LOVED it.

Not only have I changed a tire recently, I changed it on a stock trailer loaded with cows! I actually carry an impact driver (drill with socket) so that I can get the lug nuts off. I just make sure its battery is charged. Changing tires on a trailer involves driving up on a block to raise the trailer, since you don't use a jack for it.

The last time I'd bought new tyres, they had used a machine to tighten the bolts, and he said they were way too tight to loosen by hand. [article] Haven't changed a tire in quite a few years but when I did I used to just stand or bounce on the lug wrench to break the lug nuts free. [/article] | |
And that's how I broke someone's lug nut - standing on it to try to loosen one that had been tightened pneumatically.

i have done it, and could do it. the only time i wasn't able to was when the spare to my truck was held underneath the truck in a rusted up bracket, and couldn't be freed. that was really frustrating! i can pretty much count on one hand the number of my girlfriends who would be willing and able to do so tho. it's an important skill to know IMO even in these days of roadside assistance (barring physical disabilities or the like that would prevent someone from doing this, of course). my son who is of driving age is well capable, he remove tires almost weekly to work on his car it seems.
