I read the tribute that Paul McCartney posted on facebook. He described their first meeting. Paul was on holiday without his guitar and was "itching" to play. Buffett loaned him a guitar and later gifted Paul with a hand made left-handed guitar.
I have plans to got to NYC with my brother's family next Saturday. They had made a lunch reservation at his Land Shark Grill in Times Square before Buffett passed away. It will be a nice tribute to him to be at his restaurant.

I tried to listen to his music and I just can't today. I would burst into tears. Last night as my boyfriend and I were driving home I cranked the Buffett tunes and sang my heart out. I felt the tears welling up a couple of times.

I have to admit that I am not really all that familiar with Jimmy Buffet. I knew he was a singer, but that was about it. Co-incidentally, I watched an episode of Blue Bloods yesterday that Jimmy Buffet was in. He played two parts in the show - himself, and a Jimmy Buffet impersonator! He seems like a really cool dude.

I played my favorite Jimmy Buffet song (Merry Christmas Alabama) and cried yesterday. I never got to see him in concert. He was one of those special humans who made a positive impact on so many lives. RIP Jimmy.

I don't know if you want to listen to him, but he had an amazing talent for telling stories in his songs His most popular songs are great, but so are many of his other songs.

We've been fans since before he was big, before most of you were born. He played bars around Gainesville when we were in college and he wasn't even the headliner. He played for free on the University lawn. We've seen him dozens of times and his music was the soundtrack to every beach vacation before we came back to Florida. Our friends are huge "Parrotheads" and would go to Paris to see him every year. Saturday, we were at their house and toasted him with Margaritas at 5:00. They even set up a Margaritaville chair by the pool with flip-flops and a Margarita as we toasted him. Thanks for the memories, Jimmy.

Today we have Jimmy Buffett playing nonstop. It's like a soundtrack of DH and my life together. We first saw him in concert in 1976 at college, not long after we started dating. Since then we went to more concerts, including one at Candlestick Park. He will be missed, but has left behind a treasure trove of wonderful music. RIP Jimmy. Edited to add: Just saw that his cause of death was lymphoma and he had been on Hospice for the past week. They say it was discovered as Merkel Cell Carcinoma about 4 years ago. Merkel Cell, which I'd never even heard of, is a very rare, aggressive skin cancer. Risk factors include a lot of sun exposure, a weakened immune system, a history of other cancers, and being light-skinned and over 50. It usually appears as a flesh-colored or bluish-red nodule, often on your face, head or neck. Get those annual skin checks everyone!
