Absolutely incredibly shocked and so so sad. Jimmy Buffett concerts, music and books have been some of the greatest times and pleasures in my life and shared with friends. He has had some medical issues lately and canceled tours but I never thought…. 😔😔
Rest in peace,Jimmy, and Fins up.

This one hurts. Summers won't be the same. His music is what I play most of the season. I hope he is resting at his one particular harbor. Thanks for the music Jimmy.

There have been some rumors about him being ill as he has cancelled some concerts and appeared very thin in a recent interview. I'm still super sad as we have a lot of great memories from going to his concerts with friends and our kids. He didn't have the most beautiful voice ever but he was a helluva song writer, story teller, and businessman.

I am so sad about this and the coconut telegraph has been buzzing with family and friends with reminiscing and telling stories about the many concerts we’ve all attended and times that Jimmy’s music was a big part of. He never professed to be a great musician (and really wasn’t) but was a great performer and brought that bond amongst people just dreaming for that laidback lifestyle. Just relatable and easy to drift away from real life problems for a short time.
My first Buffett concert was on Boston Commons. Year unknown, early to mid 80s probably. A group of us drove down to Boston with no tickets to see him. We ended up paying more (like maybe 30.00 instead of the further back lawn tickets that were 15.00) and had 2nd row seats. His daughter Savannah Jane (as he announced her) was really young 7 -10 maybe, and playing tambourines and the maracas. It was a magical time. Unfortunately by the end it was almost impossible to get easy affordable tickets but he was always a big part of party, events and friends’ get togethers.
So many on my playlists…but A Pirate Looks at Forty, West Nashville Grand Ballroom gown, and the Live version of God’s own Drunk will certainly be played today.

I remember when he visited my hometown. He loved being on the water! His boat was aqua just like his shirt! He will be missed.

Very sad news, he was a legend. I loved Trip Around The Sun with Martina McBride. He is a legend here in Cincinnati, coined the term Parrothead here.

I was fortunate to see one of his last shows in Vegas in March. There will never be another Buffet. Parrotheads, we mourn together.

Such a songwriter and performer. Will miss him. My youngest just sent me text about him. We listened to him a lot when they were little.

This exactly. First John Prine (although not as suddenly shocking) and now Jimmy. Arlo Guthrie is another, none great musicians or voices but amazing storytellers and performers and a big part of my early years of concerts and lasted and are still favorites!

I am so sad. I am in Las Vegas and yesterday we stopped in Margaritaville for a drink. The conversation turned to Jimmy and his health as we were watching his videos and listening to his music in the restaurant.
His concerts had the best tailgate parties. Lots of good, fun memories.

We’re all Parrotheads at my house. My favorite concert was when we took my daughter to see him for the first time. She was seven, singing to every song and dancing to everything. Her kindergarten teacher came to me laughing one day because she was singing “wasting away in Margaritaville” on the swing set during recess. So many happy memories because of this man. We always wanted to see him again now that our daughter is older. It’s a sad day. He will be missed but always remembered.

He will be very missed here too. I only saw him once in concert (DH is not much of a concert-goer) but it was a blast and I loved every minute of it. I had the SXM Margaritaville station on all morning while I ran errands. So sad!

I wore a Margaritaville shirt today to honor him. RIP Me too. I can't decide if I am going yo wear my final tour t-shirt (I was there in march) or the outfit that I wore to the concert. I saw him 9 or 10 times. Every time he came to Colorado since I was 18 (except the year xh was in charge of getting the tickets) and twice in Vegas. It still wasn't enough

I tried to listen to his music and I just can't today. I would burst into tears. Same here. Even though it has been many years since John Denver died, I still struggle when I listen to his music. I loved him so much and I loved Jimmy. I hope there is a great musical get together for all these talented performers. And that my late dh (who also loved both singers) is in the audience. Might be silly but it does give a wee bit of comfort to my aching heart. Freecharlie, when the time is right, you will be able to hear the music again. That's what I'm telling myself, at least.

Yeah, this one makes me sad. His music always reminds me of college and some really good, somehow innocent, times.
I did have a margarita tonight basically in his honor.
