Hi everyone! We need to send positive thoughts and big hugs out to tanya2 today ... she really needs them! I am going to run a couple of errands this morning with my girlfriend and then she is coming over for lunch ... we are having a yummy Hello Fresh couscous salad. Oh, I picked up and ate all 20 oysters myself yesterday. . They were so awesome!!! Someone else say you love oysters! No idea what dinner will be ... it depends if I am alone or if my "friend" comes over ... This is what I posted on Facebook today ... I think I have posted it before but it is too funny not to do again! What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

We are having a fairly lazy day today. We didn’t even need to do much grocery shopping as DH is off to Sweden for 8 days tomorrow, so we don’t need a lot of food to get me through. Since lunch, DH has done yard stuff and I went for a walk. I am now ‘watching’ football and knitting until dinner time. Our game is the late game (6:30pm kickoff) so we’ll watch that later. Dinner tonight is lasagne, something that will also save me from cooking one night next week. tanya2 - sending you big hugs as you work through everything this weekend, and deal with DH’s illness in the coming weeks.

Hi all, I've been kind of awol. School's new schedule and gettibg ready for camping is kicking my butt. But we've arrived at the campground and had our first of 5 nights here. So glad to be away for a bit! I think we camp differently so far from our other pea who us camping. No hiking (except to the potty/showerhouse) and no dehydrated meals. We brought the whole fridge. Tons of things prepped to make it easy. I want to eat delicious thi gs on my vacation. We have everything from sloppy joe meat to steaks, Asian noodle salad and apple slaw to homemade oumokin streusel muffins and zucchini (sorry leannec) bread. My coffee outside this morning rocked. I just love that. I wasn't up early enough for ut to be super quiet as it is holiday weekend with lots of people/kids/dogs. But this was to be the coolest morning while we will be here. Can't wait for fall's frosty mornings. The pups are mostly behaving, the drive up was good. And I have my husband to myself for 5 days! Sending love to everyone, esp tanya2. ❤️

leannec those were my kids too! tanya2 my heart is just breaking for you. ❤️ tmarschall I'll be prepping camp food next weekend. I have two new camping cookbooks so I want to try some more new recipes. Jeremy just ran to the store before his buddy gets here to help him hopefully finish up that subfloor tonight. Then at least we will have floor for our camping trip in two weeks. I'm on my second load of laundry, cleaned up the house (we are having people over tomorrow), and am just sitting and crocheting. Tonight dinner will be pork chops with acorn squash and wild rice.

tanya2, after reading your post from last night I do want to encourage you to slow down. Yes, you do need all paperwork in order and all affairs handled, but you don't need to sell the universe right now. You sound like a woman who is in absolute shock and very scared and sad. However, you have plenty of time to take care of that part of business when you need to do so. For now, the banking, bills, DMV, all of that stuff does need to happen, but you can relax a bit and focus on the business at hand. Your husband will need a lot of care and he'll need his wife to reassure him and tend to him. So, please put down your to-do list and allow yourself to feel your feelings and just be w/your family. The rest will happen in it's own time. For now, you need your family to surround you w/support and love. I hope you're OK w/what I've said. It comes from a place of care and concern. (((((HUGS)))). tmarschall, enjoy every second of your camping trip. I don't like cooked zucchini, but I LOVE zucchini bread. I got worse, after thinking I was improving. UGH! This is beyond annoying. Oddly enough, I have a chronic pain issue that came out of remission after 15 years. I contacted my specialist right away and in a day or two it should be back in remission. I do a wholistic/scientific treatment and refuse to take pain meds for this condition. Until that time I'm a big owie. Dh is eating a bit more. Dinner will be fried rice. He's been on a rice kick. Enjoy Saturday my tribe.

I cannot believe you are sicker and now in pain too scrapmaven. Gah I feel so frustrated for you. And I'm sure that does nothing to help either. Because you are already feeling so seriously awful. Big hugs!

scrapmaven , I'm sorry you had a setback. Two weeks is much too long for this to be hanging on. tmarschall have a great time! tanya2 sending prayers, positive thoughts and big hugs. destined2bmom check in when you can ~ we miss you and hope you are healing well. It rained last night and was nice and cool while we walked a trail this morning. Then it rained really hard for a little bit. I'm doing laundry and working on SIL's photo memory book. She and DS arrive two weeks from yesterday and the rest of the family arrive two weeks from today. Dinner will be AF chicken thighs. It took me a few seconds to get this!

Beautiful weather but I am staying inside.
I am preparing my fabric & craft stuff for a huge sale, to be held at a semi-local fairground arena in mid November. I have a LOT of stuff, so I am going thru the fabric right now.
I collect(ed) *fun fabric* & have made many I-Spy type quilts. Well, no babies or little kids in the near/distant future so it is time to reduce. I collected these fabrics with a fun attitude and I want to take care that they will go to good homes. My mom left me with such a mess of all of her quilting stuff/fabric/notions and no-one should have to take that responsibility.
I'm sorting into 10"(+) & 6 1/2"(+) squares, fat quarters, 1/2 yards, full yards and 2 1/2" strips. My Accucut cuts the perfect 2 1/2" strip. The rest of the bits are going into a plastic bag to be sold as scraps. I have 3 huge Rubbermaid totes (the kind with the 3 hinges) to go thru. 1 is done and then off to the next. This is ONLY the fun fabric and not the black/whites (positive/negative), Christmas, fabric collections, Holly Taylor (Moda) fabric and much much more. I want to be organized, use my food sealer to seal bags (theft is a huge issue at these events) and price properly.
I have 3 glorious days with no noise. The construction or rather de-construction of an arena has been going on since mid June. I did get a decibel app on my phone. It can be up to 70+ decibels when all 4 backhoes are moving around, dumping cement/debri into the large metal containers, using the jackhammers on the backhoes and much much more. I am at my wits end and will have plenty of proof to show the *powers that be* about this issue, prior to the new construction that will take much longer. I cannot tolerate loud noise and I haven't had a good summer. Rambling over . . .
I received an email that CAA (AAA) is offering 15% discount on a few of my favourite restaurants so dinner will be from one of those places, probably Swiss Chalet or Kelsey's.

Ok, I am looking at that meme and I can't figure it out, so I will leave and it and go back to it. Hmmmm... In case you can't figure it out, here is a spoiler: Notice the turtle soup on the menu? If that doesn't help, here is the answer: The small sword is from a ninja turtle in the soup! Lame, I know, but I thought it was funny.

tanya2 sending love and prayers. I'm glad your DH can come home and totally understand all the preparations you two are doing. Have you considered doing a trust? scrapmaven well that is not fun! So sorry to hear your pain returned. Prayers for all recovering and ill. Well my little furbaby is free to do zoomies and walk again. He is biting his IV sites so off and on back to the cone. No idea yet regarding dinner. I slept in today which was great after staying up until 3 am again.

Thank you, I understand what you're saying really I do. The problem is I need him around to tell me where all the stuff is that I need for being able to get things sold. Where the paperwork is, where the parts for stuff are, who I need to talk to about getting stuff fixed, and how much to ask for things. And you are absolutely correct that I'm scared and sad (really just hugely freaking out!) - but now that it's moving fast & probably in his brain I need this info before he can't remember it anymore. Or can't communicate it. So hence the rush. I know it sounds like a lot, but it's really just in the planning stages at the moment - and I'm a huge planner. It helps me stay on track and not spiral more. I didn't get much sleep last night because I'm afraid to touch him, afraid that I will hurt him more. I rode the edge of the bed most of the night and woke up every time he got up for pills or water or bathroom breaks. Thank you to everyone for the hugs and thoughts, it really does help leannec - I don't think I've ever eaten oysters. Not a huge fan of clams though. Do you eat them raw or cooked? They look so gross raw! tmarschall that's how we camp too! no roughing it for us LOL The zucchini bread sounds yummy, I think I might make some of that! I have frozen shredded zucchini in the freezer. But what are oumokin streusel muffins? scrapmaven I'm sorry you're having pain in addition to feeling icky. Prayers for a speedy recovery for you & Mr. Maven

If you don't like clams then you will probably hate oysters because they are pretty much a bigger, slimier version. I eat them raw so that I can taste the flavours of the sea ... it's probably all in my head but that is what I think! I have them with a mignonette sauce which is a vinegar and shallot "water" ... soooooo good!

I'm sorry for your news and long to-do list, tanya2 . I hope you are able to get the info you need to feel like you have a handle on things (if such a thing is possible). I do understand the need to take care of the practical things while you can. Take care! scrapmaven , I hope you feel better soon! leannec , sorry but I can't stand oysters. I like all other seafood though. Earlier today while DH & I were reminiscing about favorite Jimmy Buffet songs, DS asked if were going to make Margaritas tonight as a tribute. I said sure. He then asked what I thought would go well with them for dinner, and I said "well, there's only one right answer to that" LOL - then DH chimed in with "cheeseburgers!" at the same time I said it. So that's what's for dinner at our house. (Of course, normally I'd say we should have fajitas or other tex-mex food with margaritas, but not this time.) ETA: I forgot I had an " It's 5-O'clock Somewhere" Teva tumbler that I had found at Goodwill of all places LOL with parrots on it to use for my Margarita! DS looked at it and said "hey, that's not fair your glass is bigger!" LOL We had 2 rounds of traditional margaritas and one round of strawberry...mmm, nice.

Hi Everyone, Thank you everyone for all of the prayers and positive thoughts! My stomach surgery went very well. Unfortunately! I had received to many fluids and my oxygen stats went low. So I ended up staying a few extra days. I ended up coming home last Sunday. And I have been resting and taking a break from everything. I was put on a liquid diet in the hospital and today I am able to start on soft foods. I have had no pain; but I have had tenderness in my abdominal area. I can only eat very small portions. I feel so much better. My boys came home last weekend and this weekend. My DH washed my bedding before coming to the hospital; and my ODS made the bed for me before I got home. I have been sleeping a ton. I had a chance to read yesterday’s and today’s threads. leannec I hope that you had a great lunch with your friend. I have never been able to eat raw oysters. sueg I hope that your team wins! stormsts Your time in Vegas sounds great. I am so glad you enjoyed Luke Bryan! tmarschall Have a great time camping! I was drooling reading about all the food that you are going to get to eat. scrapmaven I am so sorry that you and your DH are still feeling so bad. tanya2 I am so sorry about your DH’s health. I can feel your fear and sadness in your posts. jeremysgirl I am glad that you are having people over tomorrow. christine58 Enjoy your Monday cookout! Is this a family, friend or both cookout? cadoodlebug Cute meme. Enjoy working on your SIL’s photo memory book.

Had a ham and cheese sandwich for dinner (homemade). Tomorrow I’m cooking for my BIL because my sister went back east with my other sister and he’s hopeless. My niece came over from the city (on the ferry, fun!) to stay the night with her dad, so I’m going to try to make mashed potatoes in the AM, because she loves my mashed potatoes more than anything. She can take them home on the ferry in the afternoon. tanya2, always in my thoughts. Hang in there. destined2bmom, it’s so good to hear from you. Wishing you a quick recovery now that you’re home again. scrapmaven, I wanted to whisper to you, “teenage mutant … ” but felt that would be cheating. leannec, I’m not really fond of raw oysters and clams, but smoked oysters and canned clams are the bomb. I don’t like anything TOO slimy or fishy tasting. Yes, I know, I have low-end tastes.
