Hi everyone! I'm posting early today because, of course, I'm meeting my mum at Denny's for breakfast this morning ... Emma and her boyfriend are joining us today! I have some school supplies to give to Emma ... she is teaching grade 7 Humanities, Drama and Foods ... I can't wait to hear how her first week went! I have no specific plans this afternoon ... I didn't sleep well so a nap is definitely in my future. My mum is coming over for dinner after bingo ... we'll have something from the Hello Fresh box that will be delivered today. Hello Fresh has made my life so much easier! I hated coming up with recipes and shopping for ingredients. This is what I posted on Facebook today: How are you doing tanya2? How are you feeling scrapmaven? Healthy and positive vibes going out to everyone! What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

It rained again last night! It will be nice to walk in the cool mist this morning. LSU play against Florida State today at 4:30 so I need to plan something for dinner around that. Maybe Pizza? Here's another one that cracked me up but you might need to be of a certain age to get it.

I don't understand the meme cadoodlebug. Enjoy your breakfast leannec. I'm having some company today. My mom, my dad (who I haven't seen since Christmas), Jeremy mom, Jeremy's kids. We will have BBQ food. Brats, Cole slaw, baked beans, potato salad. I also made chocolate chip cookies and I have some watermelon and honeydew. Moms bringing a pasta salad. Jeremy's mom is bringing some pre dinner snack stuff like cheeses and crackers, and my dad is bringing his famous chip dip and chips. Should be a good time. I'm worried it's going to be too stinking hot.

Happy Sunday! destined2bmom it’s so good to see you back. Glad you are being well taken care of. We made it home around 2:30 this morning. I didn’t sleep well last night so this should be a long day. Our last day of hiking last week was The Narrows which is basically hiking 90% of the time in the Virgin River. Of course, I fell. Went down hard on my right knee on a rock. I have been getting by but I think I may need to go get an X-ray. I may just stay off it today and see if that helps at all. We have no groceries in the house. DH said he will go get some things. Dinner will be determined by what he brings home.

Happy Sunday everyone. Not much happening here. Church as usual this morning, then home to have lunch, then DH headed to the airport via his office to go to Sweden for the week.
Today is Father’s Day in Australia, so we’ve had messages back and forth between us, our boys and my dad. We didn’t get in a video call, as DS and family were out with his in-laws when we had to leave for church, and the girls had crashed to sleep by the time we were done. Sophia did tell her uncle that it’s nice he is coming to visit us soon, as ‘it’s Father’s Day, and FarFar is your dad’. She was also very insistent that he tell her what he had bought for him, as she is a big fan of gift giving occasions!
We had our main meal for lunch today, so DH doesn’t have to worry about airport food and flight timings. We had steak on the grill, fried potatoes and sweet corn. I will eat some of the leftovers from the past few nights later on, if I feel hungry. Right now, it’s 5:30pm and I don’t feel like eating anything.

so we got home last night about 9 oclock.. went to dh's aunts house to pick up the dog, and did take out pizza and a fancy salad for me. we unloaded the car and there is stuff all over the living room..the back packs, the wet tarp, and just stuff. so today.. showers, laundry, clean house and take off tomorrow morning for the 13 hour drive back home. we are taking two days.
our camping was fine.. we bought a tarp to put over tent to keep it dry for packing up. it rained hard all night..we went out to dinner at local resort.. then breakfast in a little logging town made famous by Twilight books--Forks WA!.. we went out to trailhead at beach, repacked packs and set off.. we only hiked a mile down the beach and found a lovely place back by the trees and in the driftwood to camp. the funniest dinner thing is that dh opened the bag of tortillas. he dropped on on the sand. then in frustration, he grabbed the bag by the wrong end and dropped the rest of the tortillas on the sand.. so he stood there and brushed off the sand.. we did use them for our freeze dried faitjias.. we slept a lot and went to the near by Hole in the Wall. hundreds of people walk that beach everyday to see this and the tidepools. last time I was there in the 70's.. it was empty. spent two nights--went to the timber museum on the way out and caught our ferry in time. for twilight fans.. we also drove down to La Push.. which is very improved since 10 yrs ago.
so there is not much in the fridge and we may eat out lunch with my mother in law.. so we might get salads from the corner deli.

destined2bmom , it's so nice to see you here. How is your recovery going? Welcome back. ntsf , enjoy your trip back home. I hope you'll find some unique places to eat and stay.
jeremysgirl, do your parents get along when they're together? Enjoy your bbque today. The food sounds yummy.
karenlou, are you mostly ready for vacation? Thank you ladies for thinking of dh and I. Dh is much better. On the other hand, I am worse today. I'm on all the meds and resting all the time. So, I'll just have to ride it out. This is beyond annoying.

Yesterday was a long day in the car but I got to see Niagara Falls again and spend time with my dearest friend. We got to the falls by 10:30 and although there were lots of people, it wasn’t too crowded. We parked and walked to the falls where we took the required photos. It was cool to see the falls through the eyes of someone who has never seen them before. We then drove to the airport and dropped off the daughter and boyfriend before heading out to do some retail therapy. Twelve hours later I got home and was pooped! I slept really good last night.
DH is off with my brother and buddies on the ATV’s. My SIL and I are going to meet them for lunch. We will drive in a car and meet them at the restaurant.
Today is day 1 of a four day heat wave. The temps are going to be in the 30’s. Walker has already found his sleeping spot on the floor register in the kitchen enjoying the cool air.
Supper will be rechauffe steak and a salad.

Back in the day, Samsonite or some other luggage company had a commercial of gorilla's throwing luggage around to prove how sturdy it was. So they are going to treat this guy like luggage and give him the *test*. cadoodlebug...enjoy your "cool" walk. About halfway through our walk the skies opened up and rained harder than we've seen in quite a while. The gutters were torrents and we got soaked to the skin! We came in through the garage and stripped down to our underwear. Whoever sang that song about *walking in the rain and being so in love* was obviously talking about walking in Hawaii.

I hope your stomach issues get better and you can eat the foods you love. The weather is so much nicer. Not too much going on today. May grill tri-tip tonight if we don't decide to eat out.

My cook, aka ds, made baked macaroni and cheese, Italian sausages in the air fryer, steamed broccoli and baby carrots. I’m losing him for over a week while he cares for karenlou ‘s Gracie and her house while they’re in Greece. I will definitely miss him! scrapmaven , I hope you feel better soon. stormsts I hope your knee is okay. I’m having one replaced in October and am getting nervous! tanya2 I am so sorry for all that you’re going through. I can imagine trying to navigate so much and worrying about your husband at the same time. When my late husband got sick he was in ICU for 3 days and then passed. There is so much I wish I had known beforehand but regardless, you will sort everything out if you need to. Sending lots of good thoughts for your family. ❤️ destined2bmom I hope you heal well and feel better every day.

That really is the pits taylortroop We usually go to the falls once a year or so also. It's interesting to see, and I love going in December when all the christmas light displays are out. We usually to go the Niagara Rotary tour of homes in December and then see the falls at night Today was a good day, he was feeling energetic so we got a bunch of yard work done. Actually way more than I had intended to do, but I couldn't let him do the heavy stuff so... I hope he doesn't pay for that tonight. Now he's watching all the NHRA racing that I recorded for him. He was supposed to be in Indiana at the races this weekend with his brother & friends and was really bummed to miss it. Dinner will be chicken thighs with mushroom gravy & mashed potatoes

Ds is visiting a friend in Atlanta.
Back in late 1995/early 1996, we had an oppotunity to purchase a brick at Centennial Olympoc Park in Atlanta. Since we were getting married in 1996, we did so. Ds and his friend went there and found our brick- it is the first time that someone who knows us has laid eyes on it.
Anyway, dh and I have spent the weekend re-doing the basement from the flood about 10 days ago. We cleaned everything out last weekend. This weekend we laid about 60 carpet tiles and built 3 new shelving units. We have more decluttering to do before we can move forward with anything else, but it is nice to have a lot less chaos down there!
For dinner I made a stuffed pepper casserole based on my stuffed pepper recipe. Ds really does not like stuffed peppers, so it was a good time to turn on the oven in 90 degree heat. 😂
Ive been AWOL for quite a while, but I hope everyone who is feeling poorly is on the mend!

We had quite a busy sporting weekend. We went to watch my son play in his football grand final on Saturday (he won). He didn't get home from the celebrations until about lunchtime Sunday. We went to watch my nephew play in his grand final on Sunday (he lost). It was Father's Day here yesterday. We went out for lunch and had a big meal. We were still quite full at dinnertime, so we just had a coffee scroll for dinner. I even thought to take a photo for the Peas, in case you are not familiar with coffee scrolls. What you can't see in the photo is the lashings of butter in the middle!

Ok, I'm crawling into AussieMeg 's photo. Dive. Dive. Dive. So, the great mystery of life has been resolved. Why am I still so sick? I have covid. The nurse practitioner told me to test at home, too. She said that if my test at home is also positive then it's a newer case and to quarantine for 10 days. If it was negative, but the PCR was positive then it would have meant that I had an older case that wasn't detected until now. Well, rats. My dear friends are at mil's house and I have stuff that I need to give them, like all of the comforters that we brought here to wash. Plus, I want to see them. I can't go see them for a couple weeks. Next week dh and are planning a little getaway to mark the end of his sabbatical. I should be OK to go, but even if I'm negative I have to feel well. There's never a good time to be sick, but this timing stinks! Does this mean that I can't open that chain of kissing booths I was contemplating?

I was going to cook dinner today, but I only ended up making mashed potatoes for my niece to take home with her. I ate a hot dog for dinner and I’ll cook for sure tomorrow. Steak tips and probably more mashed potatoes, if I need to feed BIL. There’s just a little left. Plus veggies. I’m trying not to toss out so much produce. I did make a fruit salad today, too. There’s so much melon. scrapmaven, so sorry for the COVID diagnosis, but glad you’ve got some answers. Hope it’s gone in a week or less. cadoodlebug, I’m old and I got the joke. The 14yo and I got caught in an unexpected downpour one day when I was picking him up at school in 1st grade. We only live a block or two from the school, so we always walked, and it was totally clear when I left the house. I had no idea it was going to rain. Just as he came out of school, it started to pour. We ran all the way home, but we were totally soaked. Wish I’d gotten a photo of us. jeremysgirl, that picture is TOO CUTE. How did that boy grow so fast? I expected him to still look like a newborn. littlemama, always good to see you post here. I miss you when you wander off! tanya2, it sounds like such a nice day for both of you. Wishing you many more.
