I have been in constant contact with my good friend who lives in J'ma L'fna which is the big open air market that you see when you see pics of Marrakech. She said that many, many people are still sleeping outside. Some cannot return to their homes, some have homes that are still standing but have HUGE cracks and are scared they will return any moment. They are still having some aftershocks and some are just scared period to return.
She also said there is NO bread in the city. The bakeries that are working are just overloaded. Some of us are trying to determine how we can get bakeries here to contribute and get a big truck to just take a massive amount of bread down there. It's about a three and half hour drive from where.
We saw an aerial shot of a village hardest hit. The whole place is just rubble. I gasped out loud and just cried. I asked DH how in the world would they even find all the people in the rubble. It's just devastating.
DH grew up with a guy that moved back to the place where his family was originally from...a village outside of Agadir. He lost his wife and two daughters. He had to be pulled out of the rubble himself. He has just one daughter left.
We keep seeing story after story...whole families lost.
