Good morning.
Procedure was easy and I asked for it w/o sedation. I'm not a masochist. It's just not that big of a deal. So, I can fully function today. Though I did sleep for 12 hours. I might go peruse a big box store and look for scrap stuff for my album. I doubt they'll have Doodlebug Designs, my favorite or other similar stuff, so I probably will walk out empty handed. We used to have 3 LSS's in my city. We had a good one not far from here, but they closed up.
So, dh has decided that despite the cooties practice retirement was a success. We're going to meet w/someone and get the particulars for retirement and then dh will choose a date.
Not sure what dh will have for dinner. I might actually cook.
What's on your menu?
What do you have planned for today?
tanya2, how did your husband do w/radiation yesterday?
Enjoy a nice, happy day!

Procedure was easy and I asked for it w/o sedation. I'm not a masochist. Glad that it went well. Why not be more comfortable, that is what the drugs are made for. Cleaning & decluttering today. I was able to snag a table at a large yard sale for Saturday so I am busy getting stuff together. Have a quilt guild meeting tonight. Everything is starting up again and my calendar is getting filled up. Supper will be breakfast. Have a great day everyone!

Good evening all. Well, our dinner cruise last night didn’t happen. We arrived on time and lined up to board and the couple in front of us were denied, as their ticket said it was for Sept 20, not 13. Then DH looked at ours, and it was the same. We went to the ticket office to try to change to another day and they told us next Wednesday (20th) was the earliest they had. Interestingly, both us and the other couple had booked through the same online site, which left me wondering if they just booked ‘next available’ instead of the day we requested. Thankfully the actual cruise company was cooperative and refunded us. As we were walking to find somewhere to eat, I saw a tourist info both that had posters for a different company’s dinner cruise, so I told DH to check and they had availability for tonight, so we booked.
We have had another busy day sight seeing and I’m looking forward to tonight. It has just started raining though, so hopefully that will clear up before 7:30pm.

Happy Thursday! Hard to believe another week is almost over. The weather seems to be changing just a bit. It's been a joy to see a 10 day forecast without a single 100+ on the horizon! We were 1 day short of tying the all time number of 100+ days in a year. During the night we had a rain shower, just enough to wet everything. This afternoon it looks like we are in for thunderstorms. Fingers crossed as we are in an extreme drought and desperate for any rain we can get. I have a dentist appointment this afternoon to repair some bonding/fillings on a front tooth. He did a patch earlier this year and I'm just not happy with it so have asked him to redo the entire thing. Other than that it is going to be a sewing day. I have a quilt guild meeting Saturday and want to complete binding on a quilt to have for Sew & Tell. Dinner will be something easy as it is housekeeper day. Not sure what though. Hope everyone has a good day. scrapmaven - Glad that the procedure went well and you feel better today! Glad the practice retirement was a success. Sounds like he's ready to give the real thing a go. tanya2 - thinking of you and your DH. Hope the treatment went well without too many side effects.

A girl goes away for a few days and misses all the good gossip. No, really, are you alright? sueg are you enjoying seeing your boy? I've been just in an avalanche here at work. I'm trying to get all the things done so I can clock out this afternoon and say goodbye until a week from Monday. Chloe and I will be having dinner tonight at the sushi restaurant. Then we will see the season opener of the symphony. Tonight's feature is Dvorak, New World Symphony. I'm looking so forward to going.

I'm happy to hear that your procedure went well scrapmaven! I don't have much planned for today other than a bit of laundry ... also waiting for an Amazon delivery of a new garbage can for my kitchen ... my current one is looking a bit grungy ... I lead a very glamorous life! My mum is coming over for dinner after bingo ... we will have something from Hello Fresh ... her choice! Another bit of drama this week with my girlfriend ... (I hope you guys don't mind me venting once in awhile about her) ... I hadn't heard from her in three days ... couldn't get an answer through text or phone call ... I was worried so I called her neighbour whose number I have ... she is a lady in her 80's who really watches out for my girlfriend too ... Sandy went over to check on her and found her to be fine but obviously loopy ... I have a feeling she is not taking her meds properly ... she is bipolar and has many ... regardless, she was fine and said she would contact me ... Nothing. Finally, at 9:30 pm I get a call from her landline (I don't know that number or I would have called it) ... she says she's fine but her cell phone was cut off from not paying the bill in full Ugh! She needs to work it out today ... do you want to bet she asks me for money? Anyway, I'm just glad she's alive!

sueg ~ Did you go to the New York cafe. It is really beautiful. We drove past it on our bus tour, but didn’t get out as we were on our way to another stop and we had a time crush. It does look lovely. We are still here for another couple of days, and we are not so pushed for time tomorrow, so maybe we’ll get there. jeremysgirl - it is great having DS here and we are having a wonderful time. I am really looking forward to next week, when it will just be the two of us in Vienna and Prague.

I’m currently babysitting grandboy #3 while DH and DS are out on an ATV ride. Grandboy is napping so my job is pretty easy. I’ve done the dishes and now chilling on the couch until DS gets home.
Last night I met a friend for supper. It was so fun to catch up. The restaurant was packed and we felt guilty just sitting talking when we finished supper so we didn’t stay long. I’m sure they wanted us to leave so they could have our table.
Tomorrow is a PD day for school which means grandboy #1 will come for a sleepover tonight. He always spends the PD days with Papa. Not sure what he has planned but they always find something to do.
No plans for supper yet but definitely something off the barbeque.

Happy Thursday! Glad you procedure went well scrapmaven!! I like good news!! Dinner tonight is going to be chicken and fries. I think I will make some carrot sticks and dip to go along with it. I have a real simple and yummy dessert idea if anyone is interested. Spread cream cheese on a plate. (I do small individual plates) Top the cream cheese with caramel sauce (the kind for ice cream) Top that with chopped up Heath bars (you can get that by the chocolate chips) Serve with apple slices. It's so dang good!

Hi tonight is men’s night so the kids and I are having pulled pork and sides. I will have coleslaw and they can have salads.
I wouldn’t say I am doing that well right now but I am trying to hold it together. My dad’s surgery is on Wednesday next week. I am very stressed out. Baby Whoodle is not leaving my side. He knows something is up. At least I have the kids here for support.
I am going to walk on my quilt project today. If I can get a pool time I will go workout maybe.

Ok, I don't want to be tmi on the dinner thread, but the procedure was just a tube change. Every 3 months or so feeding tubes go wonky and need to be changed. It's uncomfortable, but unless there's a bigger issue I don't want sedation. I am not a fan of opiods and choose to avoid them unless absolutely necessary. The doctor is starting to question the integrity of the tube site. That is not great news, but we'll monitor it and next time if it's getting worse then I'll complain. Meanwhile, I went out and was just too winded to stay out. So, I picked up some groceries and came home. I walked into the craft store and was too tired to shop. I hate that. leannec , your friend asks you for money, because she can. If you say "No. I don't have it right now" and keep saying that she'll stop asking. You have a dd in college and you have other expenses. Your finances are none of her business. NO! I don't like the way she uses you, so I'm questioning the friendship. Are you getting more out of it than you're putting into it? jeremysgirl , enjoy the symphony. My nephew is on vacation, currently, but during his off season he subs at symphonies all over the country. sueg , the only thing I have to offer you is the fact that my sil said that beer in Prague, Vienna and Budapest is great and she's not a beer drinker.
Delta Dawn , a swim might help you relax just a bit. Don't be afraid to contact your psychiatrist if you need a little extra boost during this time.

I know I need to stop giving her money ... that is true. You don't though if you don't want to and it doesn't bother you. I have a friend who is on disability. She has a whole host of physical illnesses and even uses a cane or a wheelchair at times. Her husband works but I know they do not have hardly any money. I have a mutual friend and sometimes she will tip me off. Like Kim can't get her insulin for a couple of days. And then I mysteriously need Kim to do a tarot reading for me. And I'll give her $50. Or I'll clean out my yarn periodically and I give her all the good yarn. The big, full, expensive skeins, not leftovers. Just stuff that I bought and held onto and know I won't use. Her mother died last week and I sent her money because I know her mother didn't have any either. She is such a nice person. She enriches my life. So I help her out when she needs it. However other than the death where there was fundraising effort, she's never asked for anything.

You don't though if you don't want to and it doesn't bother you. I guess that's the thing ... I don't mind lending her money ... she does eventually pay me back but I don't expect it ... What bothers me more is when she assumes I will take her to appointments, the post office or for groceries she can't get on the delivery app she uses - I am very selfish with my time ... The fact that she has so much trouble managing her money concerns me in a big way ... she needs to figure something out ... getting a part time job would help but I don't know how long she would last I don't want to make it look like she isn't a great friend to me because she is ... I know that if I ever needed her for something (other than money or a ride!) she would be there for me.

We are back from our dinner cruise. It was amazing. Dinner was goulash soup, roast duck leg with red cabbage and crushed potatoes and apple and sour cherry strudels. We were welcomed aboard with a glass of champagne, then we ordered Hungarian wines and finished with Palinka - Hungarian schnapps. There was also a band playing classical music and Hungarian dancers. I am tired , but we’ve had a wonderful day

If your friend gives back in other ways that is a good friendship, but don't be afraid to say "no" to the money if it strains you.
What a lovely evening sueg. You're making such delightful memories w/your ds, too.

Friendship is hard sometimes. I realized that my BFF just isn't going to reach out to me. She is just never ever going to take the first step. She will never come up with our hang out plans. And well when we get together we have a good time. But it's frustrating to me. You'll figure it out leannec Can I just say I am exhausted? I worked so, so hard this week. I was up at 4:30 today and logged in by 6. The concert doesn't start until 7:30 and I feel like I'm not going to make it. Lol.

I spent the day doing wedding errands. I didn’t get all of them done. I can’t find small white treat bags for the cookie table. They’re either too small or lunch bag size. Also can’t find an edible stamp pad. I don’t like to buy certain things from Amazon because I don’t trust them. I went to the local cake /pastry supply. She told me Amazon is killing their business. She hasn’t taken a paycheck for 3 months. I also tried to buy jeans which was unsuccessful. I shopped on the side of town closer to the airport because I had to pick dh up. He was delayed of course. So we picked up chipotle. My veggie bowl was so I couldn’t eat it. I’ll be hungry soon. Glad your procedure went well scrapmaven. jeremysgirl enjoy the symphony Your trip is sounding fun sueg

teddyw , is Oriental Trading Co. still a thing? If so, you might be able to find the treat bags there? Also, what about Party City if you have one in your area?
I'm horrible w/links, so I'll just paste here:

There is a restaurant supply store in my old neighborhood. I love to look around there.
Thanks for the suggestions.

I went out for dinner with the girls from my Mother's Group. Well, two of them. One is in the UK at the moment, and another pulled out at the last minute due to her mum falling ill. All three of us ordered the same meal, which was chicken involtini - chicken tenders wrapped around camembert and prosciutto in a creamy white wine sauce, with tons of veggies. It was delicious, but way too much food compared to the smaller portions I have been eating lately. Regardless, I ate every last morsel on my plate.
