littlemama have you ever been to Fremont street? I always find it so fun there, and much cheaper for food and alcohol ETA - disclaimer, it has been several years since I was last in Vegas so not sure on pricing anymore

littlemama , The monorail is on the side of the strip w/MGM and Paris and Linq. There are 3 stops in order to save you having to walk a zillion miles. If you can see The Blue Man Group at The Luxor, I highly recommend it. Mystere is a really fun Cirque show at Treasure Island. LOVE at The Mirage was really compelling and beautiful. It's very different than other Cirque shoes, in that it was serious and based upon the Beatles. I've been to other shows, but those 3 stand out, especially, the Blue Man Group, which leaves you just feeling good. There is a Tickets booth on Las Vegas Blvd for last minute show tickets, just as there is one in Times Square for Broadway shows. Also, if you want to avoid the strip go see Penn and Teller at the Rio Suites. It's a very fun show and Teller is just fantastic. It's really entertaining. I wanted to pinch Teller's cheeks. Green Valley in Henderson is nice and the casino is decent. It's attached to a shopping area called The District that has nice stores and restaurants and it's 15 mins from the MGM/Excalibur area. I prefer to stay on the strip, but if it's gonna be icky due to the race then Henderson is a nice alternative, a bit off the beaten path and more residential. The strip has changed so much and it's just a crowded mess. At least they have walkways that take you from one side to the other w/o dealing w/the traffic on Las Vegas Blvd. I found the weirdos and drunks off-putting. Last time I was there I was surprised by all of the tattoo places, daquiri bars and hydration centers. Let's get drunk and get a tattoo. There's a brilliant idea! Still, you have celebrity restaurants and shows and big casinos if you like to gamble. Thank you! We are actually staying in Henderson. We were going to try to stay on the Strip, but it was stressing us out trying to figure out where. We dont gamble, we dont want to stay anywhere that allows smoking, we dont drink much, and we dont like crowds! 😂😂

We have to be there, otherwise we'd be...anywhere else. 😂

I was able to get dh to eat a child's portion size of supper - which is more than he's eaten since Tuesday. The rice & broccoli were very plain so he was able to eat those, but he only got 2 bites of pork chop in before he said it tasted bad to him. He also ate a tiny piece of cheesecake later. So overall much improvement today (as compared to thursday)

littlemama , you might be OK in Henderson. It's more of a suburb and while you'll see video poker places, you'll be surrounded by big box stores and 55+ communities. It has a much more suburban vibe. If you want to see the strip just to experience it then you'll be about a 15 minute drive. Personally, I would Lyft. Traffic on Las Vegas Blvd is insane.
That's good news tanya2. Maybe the morphine is finally leaving the building.

littlemama, if you don’t like the Strip vibe, go visit the LV natural history museum. We took the 14yo when he was a toddler, along with his older cousins on his mom’s side, and we all had a good time. Parts of it are very interactive. It’s actually on Las Vegas Blvd, but farther north (maybe a couple of miles?) from the Strip. www.lvnhm.orgThere’s also some nice shopping around the city. Not really my thing so I can’t recommend anything. The 14yo was born in Henderson! I spent a lot of time in Las Vegas until 2012, when his mom left for Seattle, and he and my son moved here with me. There was some back and forth for a while, but mostly they’ve been here ever since. tanya2, I’m glad DH seems to be feeling a little better. EAT, mister!!
