Hi everyone! I'm about to hit the grocery store ... for someone who gets a box of Hello Fresh every week I shouldn't need to go there as often as I do ... but I NEED drinks, ice, snacks and fruit! Prices are insane ... I feel for people who feed an entire family ... ex's grocery bills must be nuts! Here is today's meme ... it is me! Keep scrolling! Sorry it is soooooo huge!!! I'm not sure what I will do with the rest of my day ... a friend asked me if I'm bored at home these days and I told him absolutely not! I love it! Dinner is undecided ... maybe Subway! What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

We had a nice day with DS and SIL yesterday ~ DH almost said something about stepsisters that would let SIL know they are in town. Oops! We are going to brunch this morning and stepsisters will be there to surprise SIL. Then later this afternoon we will do the Escape Room and then dinner at the Spaghetti Factory. After dinner we will all return to our house for cake, ice cream, presents and a slide show of SIL from a little girl until college age.

Good morning everyone. We are still loading up. The good news is that we can't check in to the campground until 3 pm. And it's only 2 hours away. So no I'm feeling no guilt about the fact that this loading and such is taking a long time.
I finally took a shower. I'm waiting for Jeremy to take the dog. And then I will run to the library quickly and drop off my book.
Dinner tonight is probably going to be pie iron calzones. It's quick and easy for our first night at the campsite. Some of our food is frozen so we have to make do tonight. I'm excited to go and just get away. The weather is supposed to be glorious. Only calling for rain one day. Tomorrow.

Good evening all. We are just back from another day of sightseeing and I am glad tomorrow is a travel day so my feet will have a rest! Today we walked across to the Buda side and took the funicular up the hill to Buda Castle. When we went to the first museum in the castle that we wanted to visit, we found out that admission to all museums in Budapest is free today, which was a nice bonus. We visited the Museum of Budapest, St Stephen’s Hall and the National Library before having a well earned Aperol Spritz, then coming back down the hill, across the bridge and back to our apartment. We have walked over 45km in total over 4 days, and we still have to go to and from dinner tonight.
For dinner tonight we are going to a Mexican restaurant we passed on our walks which looked good. It breaks our normal vacation rules about eating local when possible, but Hungarian food is a bit heavy for the weather we’ve been having.

I have some energy and I really want to go to a scrapbook store that is 40 minutes away. Dh might not be a fan of that, because he'll worry about me. I'm debating. I loaded my cart at ACOT and Scrapbook.com and yowza. Scrapbook supplies have gone way up in price since I last bought anything. So, I want to see stuff in person just to get in the mood to scrap. Scrapping foreplay? hehe. If I don't go then I'll just pick up an album at M's and hit Trader Joes. leannec, enjoy your time at home. cadoodlebug , have a great time at the escape room. Reminder that you'll have a blast, but come out of it feeling really stupid. sueg, your trip sounds like so much fun, but very exhausting. Rest well tonight. jeremysgirl , it's finally here. Enjoy your trip and play, relax and enjoy cooking over the campfire. Happy, relaxing fun day, to all!

Hi Everyone, leannec I understand your need to go and your pain. Prices are crazy every where you shop. Food prices are one example. I feel sorry for people who can’t afford a lot of food. cadoodlebug Have a blast surprising your SIL! About your meme. One of our handrails going down to the basement broke at the beginning of the week and DH fixed it right away so he could hold on going downstairs. jeremysgirl Have a great time on your camping trip! Your dinner sounds great. sueg That is wonderful that all the museums are free today. Have a wonderful time. Today it’s only supposed to be in the 70’s. I am going on a short walk and then doing some light cleaning. I am still not allowed to do dishes or vacuuming. But dusting is okay. Last night, I had Hawaiian pizza. So that’s what’s for dinner. I hope all of you have a peaceful rest of your day.

Happy Saturday! I was so sick yesterday. Went in to the office for a few hours then came home and crashed. It must have been a 24 hr bug because I feel fine today except for a headache. DH niece’s wedding is this afternoon. It’s going to be a fancy affair so I told DH he has to wear his suit. He is grumbling. I’m hoping we can get a good picture of us. scrapmaven I hope you can make it to the scrapbook store. I love to check all the pretty things out in person but there are no stores other than Michael’s and Hobby Lobby around me. cadoodlebug it sounds like you have a fun weekend planned. leannec, I agree about grocery prices. It’s just DH and I and I went for a few things and came home with over $100 in 5 bags. jeremysgirl, enjoy your camping trip! You deserve a nice week away. DH purchased a tv for our screened in porch this week. We are sitting out here watching some football before we have to get ready. I think I am really going to enjoy being out here this fall.

Happy Saturday all! I'm making some chicken soup for dinner - doing the whole chicken make your own stock, so basically an all day affair. It's my welcome to fall meal ie soup season! I'll end up freezing most of it, but it'll make some nice quick meals down the road. Enjoy your camping trip jeremysgirl ! I'm jealous of the escape room cadoodlebug - I love them! Have a good weekend everyone!

leannec, I agree about grocery prices. It’s just DH and I and I went for a few things and came home with over $100 in 5 bags. I ended up spending almost $200 CAD today ... sigh! But I did buy brie and prosciutto, a bunch of colours of sweet peppers and the priciest thing: dishwasher tabs! I still need to go to Costco in the next week or so as well ... it never ends

I am very busy today organizing my scrap stuff. Another 4-day crop next weekend. I’ve had one every month this year, and I’ve reached the point where I don’t even unpack in between. So now I’m unpacking and reorganizing and trying to fix my life. Wish me luck. Dinner will be chicken/veggie/noodle soup. I made the stock earlier this week. And it’s actually kind of cold today. Perfect soup weather.

We are going to Cooper's Hawk for dinner tonight with my mom. Not sure what I'll get, but everything there is fabulous!
Currently stressing about our Las Vegas trip coming up in a week and a half. It is all so overwhelming. Because we are there for a softball tournament, we never know when we will have free time. We know the day we get there, we will have a few hours free. Other than that, it is day by day. We cant make plans or reservations for anything in advance. I dont want to spend all the money this is costing and not do something.

We aren't staying on the strip or at any MGM or Caesars property and we dont gamble, so we are good there. The majority of the team is staying at Luxor or Excalibur which are both impacted. The roads are also torn up prepping for the F1 race that they are hosting. Can we park at any hotel or casino parking garage when we want to walk around? It doesnt look like the whole strip is walkable from end to end (due to distance), but Im not sure.

DH and his buddy went for an ATV ride this afternoon. I was reading on the couch when DH flew in the driveway with his buddy in the back of his ATV. His buddy rolled his machine in a mud bog and the machine landed on top of him. DH has taken him to the hospital and he thinks his shoulder is dislocated. The next issue is to get the ATV flipped over and out of the mud bog. DH says it’s in a bush so they will probably need a tractor. DH was pretty pumped up when they got home. I told him to calm down and breathe or he would be in the hospital too with a heart attack!!

You can park at any hotel but almost all charge for parking ... you cannot possibly walk the entire strip ... use the tram system that exists between some hotels and indoor walkways ... I haven't been to Las Vegas in a looooong time but I subscribe to some excellent Las Vegas YouTube people that I've learned a lot from! I watch most of them on Facebook videos ... Check out Travel Ruby Norma Geli Jacobs Life in Vegas ... he has a number of updates regarding the current situation ...

leannec the price of groceries is insane! I'm glad I don't have kids living at home anymore that need to be fed LOL cadoodlebug I'm glad you're having a nice visit with your family jeremysgirl have a great time on your camping trip! I hope you have great weather all week. I love pie irons too, jealous that's your dinner sueg your trip sounds amazing karenlou your pictures are gorgeous, thanks for sharing them taylortroop how scary! I hope your friend will be ok. That could have been so much worse DH had his first radiation yesterday, and before that another meeting with the radiation oncologist. They are pretty convinced it's the morphine that he is reacting badly to, although they did tell me they couldn't guarantee that it's not the cancer advancing quickly. They want him to stop the morphine completely, and keep taking the steroid to try to get back to normal. And he's back to having only mild medication for pain. After we finished with the dr, dh turned to me and said "he was nice have we met him before" - and yes we had a 45 minute appointment with him on monday. So that's how much of a brain fog he is in. Also he's had a lot of muscle weakness, again hopefully just from the morphine. He's having a tough time getting his balance, and yesterday he dropped and spilled 3 drinks before I finally started putting them in adult straw sippy cups. He couldn't even hold his phone without dropping it. He's starting to feel a bit better today although he's still very weak, out of balance and his voice is still really hoarse. The pain isn't too bad but I can tell that the medication is still not out of his system. We went over to my mother's to finally tell her what was going on. We had been putting it off, but she knew something wasn't right. That was fun We had to make her promise that she wouldn't broadcast it to everyone she has ever met. We had other friends over last night and we were able to tell them, and ask him for a bit of help at ds's house that dh was supposed to get done but ran out of time before he started feeling so badly. DH has also had no appetite at all for the last 3 days, it's a huge thing for him to drink an entire ensure in one sitting. But last night I did get him to eat a small piece of the cheesecake I made. I'm hoping i can get him to eat a small amount of supper tonight, even just a bit of rice or veggies.

I’ve tried to respond 3x today to the thread. Not sure if it’s my phone or what. DDs plane has been delayed 2 hours for a flat tire. Dh & I were going to go out but not now. I’m their airport pick up. Dh can eat at his golf club and I’ll just wing it. Worked on wedding stuff. I know it seems endless. Also did some jewelry prep for the studio this week. I’ve spent a ridiculous amount of time sitting by my hummingbird feeder. She barely notices me and gets within 12 inches of me. Then another one shows up and chases her off. tanya2 hopefully your dh gets back to himself off the morphine.

I will probably have a salad and frozen pizza (which DH doesn't care for) and DH will have ground beef stroganoff (which I don't care for). We just got home from playing board games with friends and there were lots of snacks, so we don't want anything elaborate for dinner.

I didn't make it to the scrap store, but I'm about to hit checkout on a big online order. I'm still too pooped. tanya2 , hopefully, your dh will be much more present and balanced in a day or two. You must be feeling overwhelmed. Please do something nurturing for yourself this coming week. The first rule of being a caretaker is to take care of yourself. lucyg , you're in my thoughts all the time. You have a great attitude, but it's OK to say "ouch", too.
teddyw, you might feel a bit better when you see your dd in person. I hope that she gets answers and an all-is-fine from her doctor this week. As a nurse you'll know what to look for when you see and talk to her in person.

The first rule of being a caretaker is to take care of yourself. I hope so too. I have still been going out golfing twice a week, but frankly my game has gone to crap. Worst scores of the year. I can't focus on it, and am constantly worried that I've left him home alone and what could possibly be happening there. This week I've been terrified that he'll fall down the stairs. And that's just one thing on the list of things I'm terrified about.

tanya2 I hope your husband is back to normal once the medication has worn off. The memory loss and weakness sound awful. Prices are insane ... I feel for people who feed an entire family ... ex's grocery bills must be nuts! Ugh, I hear ya! I don't need to buy anything, except for milk, while doing Lite 'n Easy, because everything is supplied. But I still had to do the grocery shopping for DS and DSO. I spent $260 and I didn't even get any meat or veggies! Mind you, I did get quite a bit of stuff for DS and my birthday family dinner next week, anything that was on sale. For dinner I ate what I was supposed to have for lunch but didn't, because I was at the shops ordering my new phone - Pizza Supreme. Nowhere near the same kind of pizza that you'd get at a pizza shop, but it was okay. I am channeling my inner cadoodlebug and leannec , and posting a funny thing I just saw on FB. I don't know why, but this made me snort laugh out loud:

This is the tough stuff and being a caretaker is not for the feint of heart. It's a labor of love. I often wanted my dh to reach out to other caretakers for support, but he's always done this on his own. It's hard work and I really encourage you to reach out to those people who have been there and have constructive advice and support.

Volcano due to preparations for the Formula 1 race in 2+ months. They also removed all of the trees along the strip. Maybe we wont be spending much time on the strip. 🤷🏼♀️

littlemama , The monorail is on the side of the strip w/MGM and Paris and Linq. There are 3 stops in order to save you having to walk a zillion miles. If you can see The Blue Man Group at The Luxor, I highly recommend it. Mystere is a really fun Cirque show at Treasure Island. LOVE at The Mirage was really compelling and beautiful. It's very different than other Cirque shoes, in that it was serious and based upon the Beatles. I've been to other shows, but those 3 stand out, especially, the Blue Man Group, which leaves you just feeling good. There is a Tickets booth on Las Vegas Blvd for last minute show tickets, just as there is one in Times Square for Broadway shows. Also, if you want to avoid the strip go see Penn and Teller at the Rio Suites. It's a very fun show and Teller is just fantastic. It's really entertaining. I wanted to pinch Teller's cheeks. Green Valley in Henderson is nice and the casino is decent. It's attached to a shopping area called The District that has nice stores and restaurants and it's 15 mins from the MGM/Excalibur area. I prefer to stay on the strip, but if it's gonna be icky due to the race then Henderson is a nice alternative, a bit off the beaten path and more residential. The strip has changed so much and it's just a crowded mess. At least they have walkways that take you from one side to the other w/o dealing w/the traffic on Las Vegas Blvd. I found the weirdos and drunks off-putting. Last time I was there I was surprised by all of the tattoo places, daquiri bars and hydration centers. Let's get drunk and get a tattoo. There's a brilliant idea! Still, you have celebrity restaurants and shows and big casinos if you like to gamble.
