Update 28th Sept.
She is doing amazingly well! She's already completed a couple of if runs and her energy levels are pretty good, considering they are never great due to her MS. Thank you all so much for the support and prayers, and for helping to get her fundraising to half her target- it's been such an amazing boost for her. I'm sure she can get the rest by next April, it's much more attainable now. You are all amazing! ______________________________________________
We've all caught the new covid variant this week and whilst myself and my two boys haven't been too bad( we've all had covid before) my daughter with MS who is immunocompromised hasht. She's tested positive this morning after starting symptoms during the night and is feeling really unwell. The service that sorts out antivirals can't release meds until tomorrow after they check her blood test last week- even though they wouldn't have given her her infusion for MS if the results weren't ok. đ I'm so worried about her and very emotional as I'm still recovering myself.
All prayers gratefully received for Rachel - she's been such a warrior and was in the middle of training for the London marathon next year, trying to raise funds for MS-UK.
Thanks for reading.

I'm so sorry to hear this! A good friend of mine works for the MS-UK trust and has MS. She runs the London Marathon every year to raise money along with other races throughout the year. Running has really kept her MS in check.

I'm so sorry to hear this! A good friend of mine works for the MS-UK trust and has MS. She runs the London Marathon every year to raise money along with other races throughout the year. Running has really kept her MS in check. I think she's almost as worried about being thrown off her training schedule than she is about her health đŠ I'm cross that she ran 14 miles yesterday even though she felt a bit 'off'. I think she's also going to end up paying most of the ÂŁ2,000 herself ( even though she's not working) as we are finding it impossible to get people to support her just giving. She hasn't even reached the lower threshold of fundraising yet. She was also told she would have to pay whether she is able to run or not. It's added pressure I would prefer she hadn't taken on! I'm very cross with my oldest who's brought it in because he's pretty selfish. He treats the house like a hotel barely talking to any of us and I had no idea he had covid- he's gone into work and given it to all his staff as well! He's been using the main bathroom and kitchen and he's not one for covering his mouth when coughing etc ( sorry tmi). I know he's feeling pretty sh*tty now she's so poorly, I just hope he'll be more considerate in future. He's 27 and a dad!

Oh no! I hope that she is able to come through quickly. I will hold her in my prayers.
Iâm in the midst of battling this new variant - one of my students gave it to me - and it has been really rough on me. I spent yesterday in the ER hooked up to an IV for fluids and anti-nausea drugs. One of the big issues with this variant is the gastro-intestinal issues it causes. It can cause severe diarrhea and nausea. Which can lead to dehydration. Iâve lost 5 pounds since Tuesday.
I woke up for work with a 102 fever and tested positive on Wednesday morning. I had Paxlovid by noon, thanks to a local urgent care. Paxlovid is hard on the liver, that is why they want to check her blood work - you probably know that, though. While my respiratory symptoms are mild - just like a head cold - the digestive issues have been brutal. There is no way I would be able to train for a marathon for another few weeks, at best. I still donât have the issues under control.

I'm so sorry Elaine and will add you to my prayers X She was told it's her kidneys they want to check but tbh both the people she spoke to sounded clueless! I get so cross to still see people saying Covid is 'just a cold'. I'm lucky that despite my high BP and asthma I haven't been too bad, but my daughter is in a completely different position, as you clearly are. I'm really cross that she caught it in our home though- my oldest is out at pubs and clubs several nights a week since his relationship broke up. He lives here on peppercorn rent and acts like he's no part of the family. I've just had a word with him about future expectations but that doesn't help her right now! Funnily enough she has no fever and I didn't get one either.

Your daughter will be in my prayers, as will the rest of your family. I have MS and I had Covid (Omicron) last year. I can understand the fear of being immunocompromised with Covid. Everyone's MS is so different, I also had fears because I had my MS med infusion only 2 or 3 weeks before I was diagnosed. There was a small delay in getting the anti-virals (maybe two days) but I got them and bounced back pretty quickly from all of my symptoms except fatigue. That lingered for a few weeks but was never debilitating. I ended up taking one extra day off work (so 4 days instead of 3).
elaine i will also be praying for you.

It's a delay tactic- our NHS can be brilliant but not always, same as any other service I suppose. They also says there's no hurry as she can take it within 5 data but if course the earlier taken, the better the result

I'm on the bench with you and others upset with your son. ugh! I will also try making a donation to Rachel's marathon fundraising effort. Off to try it now.
