So wait, people no longer leave the tooth under the pillow?? My kids did. It was all low key here. I get that people have fun making magic, but sometimes, I just want some things to be simple---particularly things that might pop up when it's not a good time to be more elaborate. So our kids stuck the tooth in a baggie, it went under the pillow, and 95% of the time we remembered to swap it out for a buck later on, and everyone was happy. The other 5% of the time we invented some nonsense about too many kids losing teeth the same day, and that if they just put it out the next night it would for sure be picked up then. And everyone was still happy.

Wow, the tooth fairy succumbed to inflation. When I was a kid we got a dime. I think I gave my kids $1?!?!?
Well by the look of things $1.00 was the preferred amount by most people here as well.

And everyone was still happy. We tell them to leave it on the nightstand or dresser because the tooth fairy is too small to actually lift the pillow. We've made up all kinds of nonsense stories about this stuff. My kids don't care about the stories, as long as they leave the money. hahaha

We didn’t worry about how much, we wanted something fun. The first tooth was a silver tooth fairy coin my mom found. Each tooth after was a $2 bill. They thought that was the coolest thing. I went to the bank and got a stack of them, and hid them in our room, so I always had one when it was time.
