I went much cheaper than your choices (Amazon) but they have met my needs. I opted for a set of three large - I guess sizing depends what you are planning on putting in them. I don’t travel a lot so maybe investing in something nicer like your links is better but my cheap ones have done the job for me of sorting out my clothes in the categories that makes sense to me while traveling. I put travel cubes in my long list of things I never knew I needed until the peas talked about it.

There are tons of sets on Amazon more reasonably priced than the ones you linked.
I like a variety of shapes and sizes so I can look in my suitcase and immediately grab which one I need. We have a different color/print for each person in the family. They definitely make a huge difference when I pack.
We have Mossio and Yamiu brand sets and they are probably 3 years old. They’ve been on 3 one month road trips, at least a dozen week long trips, and numerous long weekends and they still look brand new. They’ve been through the washing machine many times and survived being roughed up by kids.

I vote for less expensive and a variety of sizes. They do come in handy and I'm always amazed at how much I get in each cube.

When thinking of the cubes, think about the size of your suitcase.
My original ones came from ebags.
Now everyone has a different color set and they came from ebags and Amazon.
I do like the look of the rei ones, if they keep that form

I just ordered from Amazon. Much cheaper, good quality, work great and have held up well.

I vote for less expensive and a variety of sizes. They do come in handy and I'm always amazed at how much I get in each cube. Me, too. I'm a maniac about packing. I have several sets from Amazon and I mix colors. Underwear goes in a small red one, tops in medium turquoise, and bottoms in blue. So easy to find in a full suitcase. Each of the sets you linked to has a large one and I rarely use that size. Depending on where I'm going I may pack by day, I may pack tops in one and pants in another, etc. I'm going on a long trip now and I'm packing sweaters in one, pants in another, and stuff for our warmer destination in another. I bought Rick Steves packing cubes early on and they aren't sturdy enough. I bought a set of pink ones to do my whole suitcase and I don't use them. I looked into a suitcase that was a sea of pink and they all fit together nicely, but I couldn't find anything quickly.

I have the Amazon ones too, although lately I’ve been using Hefty 2.5 gallon storage bags, an idea I saw in a travel blog. If you want to you can even SIT on them to compress, then just zip and pack. No wrinkle on arrival either 😊

I thought the point of packing cubes was to compress your clothes so you can fit more. Are there some like that? I like Layce’s idea above.

We got E Cubes from Amazon and really like them. We’ve had them at least 5 years.

Another vote for multiple side cubes. We went to Oreland earlier this summer and never stayed at the same hotel night to night. Those cubes made all the difference in the world- my things did t end up in a jumbled mess and I could unpack and repack quickly. Since then I’ve traveled twice for work and I love having my stuff organized!

I have used the 2 gallon ziploc type bags to organize shirts, etc. in the past, but I didn't think to sit on them! Maybe I'll do that. Thanks Layce and to all who have weighed in here. I am def. looking for the least expensive sturdy cubes AND I try not to line the pockets of Bezos if I can help it. Aside: I just bought a new suitcase from the Travelpro website rather than from Amazon. I thought they were the same price initially, but I got an automatic 10% discount on the Travelpro site along with free shipping.

Mine all have mesh on the top which lets my clothes breath. I have 2 sets of two different colors so we know which ones are mine and which are for DH. We have one really large one and 3 each of a medium size. Plus a couple from Sharper Image that I picked up at Ross or Marshall's. I use my label maker and label each cube so we know what type of clothing is in each one. I also use my FoodSaver machine to suck the air out of our underwear and socks. Amazing how much room it saves! It also makes them rock hard which comes in handy as a weapon.

I have many kinds of packing cubes. I'm pretty frugal, so none of mine are expensive. Many I have purchased came from TJMaxx, or Marshalls.
I seldom use the large size. The exception is we are traveling for several weeks and its cold, because I want sweaters and the large cubes fit them best. I do travel with an empty large cube if we are renting a car. I use it to corral the travel umbrella, hats, gloves, extra socks if its raining and the like. Dh lost a beanie he loved under the seat of a rental 🙁 This was my solution.
I don't care if they are all the same colour, because the sizes are different and I pack my own suitcase so I know what is where.
If we are road tripping and spending the night in a different place each time, I will bring each person an empty cube to put their pyjamas and the next days outfit so we aren't dragging all of the suitcases in for one night.
I do have some that are compression. They more or less look like a regular cube, but they are a bit rigid. There is a zipper that goes all the way around much like what is on expandable suitcases. You pack the cube and the zip it into compression. While these have a purpose, I don't actually use them very often. The problem is that each time you open them you have to completely open them or you won't get it closed again. So, for cubes that have my clothes that is a hassle. However, I have used them for clothing items that I might need, or will need later in the trip. For example, if the weather at your destination is going to get cold enough for a coat at the very end of the trip, I will put a heavier jacket or bulky layers that won't be touched until later in the compression cube so that the item isn't taking up too much space. I have also used the zip lock bags and rolled them to compress them for ds, because he likes to pack the outfit a day way, and this works because he isn't having to compress anything after its been packed. The bag is empty. The zip locks are also good for compressing the extra shirt, socks and unders we each carry in our on board bag in case of lost luggage.
I've used packing cubes for umpteen years. Having everything compartmentalized and loving it, I purchased some mini cubes that are used to break down things like our bedside requirements of ear plugs, hand lotion, chapstick, eyeband etc. That gets tucked into the cube with pyjamas. Another has a deck of cards and a travel cribbage board. Another has airplane essentials.

I have the non-compression kind from Amazon. I agree with smaller, multiple sizes, versus several of the large ones. The large ones lay nicely in the bottom of the suitcase, but they hold so much that it doesn’t really work for me if I’m actually trying to separate categories. Also, as the trip goes on and I use clothing out of the larger sized bags, the clothing inside gets looser, and Gets messy and wrinkled.
Having said that, I don’t really like to use travel bags for clothes. I find that I have to pull the entire bag out of my suitcase to get into it and then I have to is ease the garment out and zip it all back up again. I always pack with my stack of clothes on the very bottom of the suitcase because it tends to be the heaviest and it stabilizes the suitcase when it’s standing up. I find it easier just to lift up the stack a little bit and slip out the clothing item that I want. I put all the pants in the bottom of the stack, sweaters on top of that and tops on top of the sweaters. The stack fits well into a rollaway and I’ve found it just works for me.
Instead, I like to use a priority of smaller bags, whether it’s make up bags, Ziploc bags, or travel bags to organize toiletries and socks and underwear, and smaller items. I also use one of those large plastic envelopes that Velcro’s shut to organize papers and receipts.
However, one use of the travel bags that works really well for me is to put my shoes in them. I have a couple that are made just for shoes and it’s nice to keep the dirty soles off my clothes and other items in the suitcase.

I thought the point of packing cubes was to compress your clothes so you can fit more. Are there some like that? I like Layce’s idea above. My problem with these is that it's easy to overpack and go up to the weight limit if it takes up less room. My mesh insert packing cubes allow me to compress things enough, but not so much that my bag weight 60 pounds. The problem is that each time you open them you have to completely open them or you won't get it closed again. So, for cubes that have my clothes that is a hassle. And this.

I found mine years ago and they don't zip. They velcro. They hold a ton. I like mine for separating clean and dirty on the return trip.

We use the ebags of amazon... i know you are avoiding those... we also have separate colors for dh n myself... I am another who doesnt really like the large unless I am packing several pants or long sleeve tops... my favorite size is medium... i pack most of my stuff in that size..
i have some super small ones that I use for all charging cords and 1 that I use for "kitchen" things.. we pack salt and pepper packs and have some take out utensil packs and then different condiments and sauces... sometimes we door dash and end up with no forks..
I also use small makeup bags for a small 1st aid kit and 1 that has small manicure kit, glasses repair kit and other doo dads that we may or may not ever need... but they are small enough that they just slide in the inside pockets of my suitcase... and i have them if we ever need them

I have a few sets similar to the ones in your second link, with the mesh. I like that you can see what's in them through the mesh, without having to open all the bags to find what you're looking for. Mine are gorgeous bright colours (blue, pink, green) and DS's are boring (haha) blue and black.

I like e-bags, I buy them from their site and always get them on sale or as gifts. The quality is great, and just as important to me, they have been made for a long time and will very likely still be made in the future. I don’t want a million close but different sizes and colors. All of my bags are purple, DH’s are grey and for our non-clothing items we use turquoise. They’ve had those colors for quite a while so I’ve added to our collection gradually. As for the sizes I do recommend getting a variety but as others have stated the larger cubes aren’t needed often or as functional. I like using the same brand because they stack very neatly in the suitcases, each stack uses a uniform amount of space so it makes adding our other cubes and bags easier and neater.
The brand Eagle Creek is high quality, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them even though I haven’t used one of their cubes in years.

I'm not sure what brand mine are, but I love them. I just got back from 11 days in Europe and I used 5 packing cubes. 1. Small one for converter plug, watch charger, phone charger, etc. 2. 2 Mediums-1 for bras, underwear and socks and 1 for a dress and sweaters, flannel 3. 2 large-1 for t-shirts and 1 for shorts/jeans
I actually want a couple more. 1 for laundry and maybe 1 for shoes?

Another tip... instead of laying the cubes flat across the bottom and playing tetris with them...
I stand my suitcase upright and stack them like books... my shoes are on the bottom and since the cubes i use most are medium i just stack them up and at the top is where is put my toiletry bag, wet bag, and make up...

I just got the Amazon basics packing cubes and I've had them for about 8-9 years and they've held up with no problem. I don't think you need to spend a ton of money on them. I have them in 3 different sizes.

I have 3 or 4 set of Amazon Basics and eBags cubes that I use regularly, and I interchange them. Both sets were purchased in 2015 and have held up well. Looking at those two sets, the REI set is more the style I like - it has a little structure. I don't really like the ones that are all floppy, and I like that they are expandable. I use more of my smaller bags because I pack by item type - small bags for underwear, socks, bras/undershirts/bathing suits and larges ones for shirts, pants. I lay dressy clothes as flat as I can on top (1-2 folds).
