I got it for the first time this last summer while I was on vacation. It came on pretty quickly with a cough and then really hit me after a 3 hour road trip.
All in all, it felt like a bad cold with most of the symptoms kept under control with over the counter meds.
I hope yours is swift and not severe!

Although I never tested positive I think I just had it. All my symptoms definitely matched up, although never had a fever. I had it once before in 2021, that was awful. Worst sore throat, congestion and coughing of my life. This time was much easier, but the fatigue was a lot. Cough didn't come until the end and it is lingering.

It certainly is going around here in Northern Virginia. At the school where I sub the entire ESL team is out at the moment with it, and they figure they got it from the 2nd grade team where two of the three of them had it a couple weeks ago. I've been subbing so much that I figure I'm doomed...just waiting for the other shoe to drop on me. Although...I did have it back in June so maybe that gave me some immunity? Just keeping my fingers crossed until I can get my booster (tomorrow, yay!) and until that can take effect. How long does it take a vaccine to build up your immunity? Anyway, I hope your case stays mild!

I had it August 2022 and August 2023 (almost a year to the day!). In 2022 it was probably Omicron and hit me a lot like the flu. I full on slept for two days and only got up to go to the bathroom or when I was awakened to drink/eat. I felt better around day 4. In 2023 it was more like a really, really bad cold and I felt terrible for almost 2 weeks plus I had a post-covid headache for another 10 days.

I hope you feel better soon! It has been going around in our area.
I am so happy that my 20 yr. old college student got the new covid vaccine last week! And she got her flu shot last month. Covid is going around at her university so it's a big relief that she is doing what she can to avoid both.

But I once heard with one of the covid vaccines a couple years ago that even a week in you are better protected than before you got the vaccine. I hope that's true!

I had it end of August-early Sept and now they are pretty sure that I've developed long covid. I had all of the boosters and as soon as my doctor tells me to I'll have the new shot. It takes 90 days for that to become an official diagnosis. It started w/a bad sore throat and then I slept for 3 days. Then it progressed to bronchitis, which I'm prone to. I am still coughing and more exhausted than I've ever been and that's saying something. Hopefully, you have just a normal case and will feel much better quickly.

yep, it got our house too. My Inlaws were staying with us, heading home monday. FIL started to feel sick on the way home and got diagnosed monday evening. DH and I both woke up with sore throat and cough Tuesday. While both rapid tests were negative I've spent the last 2 days in bed. I just cancelled all my appointments for this week. I'm unemployed at the moment so at least I don't have to worry about sick time. For me it's similar to a bad cold, DH of course is acting like he's at death's door. What is it about men and being sick?

My friend was meant to be visiting today, but he and his daughter both tested positive last night. His daughter had a kidney transplant in May, so he is obviously more concerned about her than himself, even though his symptoms are worse. My DIL works in a large hospital north of London, and she mentioned at the weekend that they are quietly emptying as many wards as possible, as they are expecting an influx of covid patients. 🙁

I think I had it a few weeks ago but I didn’t test because it only lasted about 3 days. I thought it was just a sinus thing but then realized a few days after that I couldn’t smell or taste. That’s what made me think I had it. Taste is about halfway back. Smell about 1/3. I had one solid day that I was absolutely miserable. Couldn’t breathe, fever, chills, body aches. Not too bad considering. I’ve never had it before.

I came down with it exactly 2 weeks ago for the first time even though this is my 3rd year teaching in an elementary school. It has been awful. I ended up in the ER on an IV for dehydration. Then after I finished Paxlovid (after which I never tested negative), I had a virus-load rebound and have been testing strongly positive since. I lost my sense of taste and smell on Friday (1.5 weeks after initial diagnosis) and that is ongoing. I am so tired all the time - it is hard to make it through a school day. I am back at work and masked, because those are CDC guidelines that we are expected to follow. (I don’t mind being masked at all, I hate that I need to be back at work even though I feel crummy).

OP, Hope you are feeling ok! elaine, get well soon! Knock on wood, but so far I have avoided it. I have allergies, so who knows, maybe I did have it. But my allergy symptoms usually disappear by 10AM. But I never tested, never had a fever, never lost smell or taste, no fatigue.

Because my students are falling behind. When one doesn’t know who/if one will get to substitute teach, new material doesn’t get taught. In elementary school, there just isn’t enough flex built into the curriculum pacing guide to take a week off. I missed 3 days that first week because it butted up to a weekend, covering my 5 days per CDC guidelines, and my class is behind the other 6th grade classes in Math and Social Studies.

Well, it turns out I am one of 7 in my group with it. Monday and Tuesday I barely got out of bed. Tv was on as background noise. Today I got up at 9 and have been awake all day. A bit of a cough and stuffiness, but otherwise, I am improving.

Pretty sure I had it this summer while we were on vacation. Never tested because we were overseas, but symptoms and timeline all line up with the same profile as others who definitely had it. Started with a sore throat that became steadily worse, then congestion, headache, and a fever/elevated temp with body aches that lasted for about 36 hours. Once the fever broke I started to feel a bit better but then the cough came at the end and lingered for weeks, even after we got back home. I just used OTC meds (mostly Mucinex & ibuprofen).

I got it the last week of August and it took me a full 10 days to feel better. I'm still coughing some. It was my first time with Covid too.
Hope you're doing ok and on the mend soon!

I *think* I currently have/had it. My last vax (I was vaxxed to the max at the time) was the end of April. I went on a European cruise in August. Two days after i got off (9/4) I had a sore throat, weird greenish yellow gunk in my eyes (they were "fused" shut when I woke up), coughing, super tired. Treated with OTC meds. The sore throat was only 1-2 days. Also I was really dizzy when I woke up and pressure in my left ear. (I hadn't flown in two weeks so I don't think it was that) The other symptoms went away. I didn't test myself until we got back (9/11) and I was negative.
I still have coughing "fits." My dr said antibiotics wouldn't help and did not really have a diagnosis because I tested negative. But I've never had a cough drag on for this long so I'm thinking that I have/had it.
I did test positive July 2022 and had "major sneezes" for one day. That was it.
So I'm taking some cough pills at night because the coughing/ sinus stuff is keeping me awake.
Also planning on getting the new vaccine and a flu shot when this clears up.

It’s getting a lot of first-timers this time around! I had 5 friends that have had it for the first time over the past month. My family and 2 other families we're friends with haven't had it but the rest of my friend group has had it at least once, some 2 or 3 times. We are very cautious and don't do anything indoors with large groups of people (or if we have to we mask). We went to a big music festival a couple of weeks ago that was fully outdoors and I was sure we were going to get it but we came out unscathed. OP and others that are sick, hope you get over it quickly!

I think the recommendation was to have it 2 weeks prior to really needing it back when people were first considering getting together for the holidays and it was such a big issue. I haven’t seen anything else written about it in quite a while so I’m not sure if that has changed.

(((( hugs )))) You are the type of teacher for whom this is a calling, not a job! I feel that's true of the vast majority of teachers. you are heroes!

First timer in July 2023 after getting off a cruise. Was to be expected when living aboard with 5000 other persons. Tested positive and lived to tell the story. Currently have a “common cold” and feel worse than when I had Covid. Tested negative this time but will retest. Again, participated in a large group setting. Got my masks back out and will start wearing again. T’is the season! Or as my partner states, “you’re run down, you’ve been doing too much”. But life is for living! Lol. But must remember to stay alive so I can enjoy the living part haha
