So a year and a half ago I was really sick with pancreatitis and gallbladder issues. Needless to say I lost a lot of hair, but since February I’ve been using something from my hairdresser that was made specifically for post Covid people who had also had hair loss issues.
My hair is the longest it’s been in a long time and has become very wavy which is fine. But I think the hair products I’m using like the gel etc. has dried out my hair. What do you all recommend to put some moisture back in my hair, and maybe a good gel product that will keep the wave intact. My hair is also very heavy and I have a lot of it.
Thanks

Firsr, what is the product you are using? Not that it matters, but Im curious.
And honestly, I just put conditioner in my hair and let it sit for a couple minutes before I rinse it, so Im not any help either!

I use Kerastase Curl Manifesto Hydrating Leave-in Cream for curly hair before I style my hair. Doing a deep condition periodically will help as well. My method is to leave it on for at least 1/2 hour and to wrap my hair with a towel hot from the dryer to help it penetrate more. The packets from Morrocanoil are good and not too pricey.

The holy trinity as it were is a good conditioner, a leave-in conditioner (mids to ends only) and hair oil (ends only). To me, if I do those three things, then I can counteract any styling product or styling.

I have hair oil and use it to soften my hair. It makes it super shiny too. I have Paul Mitchell and Joico (Canadian or UK maybe). They both work regardless.

Make sure your gel doesn't have anything in it that could dry your hair out like alcohols, glycerin, etc.

How often are you washing your hair? It really is not necessary to wash hair everyday especially if your hair is dry. I have long hair that is past the middle of my back and only wash my hair about every ten days - and no it does not stink, I ask my daughters who are adults to make sure. I only say this because there are so many ladies I know who wash their hair daily, perhaps that is not you. Trying different products to see if they help can get expensive and could cause damage to your hair as well --please be careful. Perhaps, you could go in to a trusted hairdresser for a trim and ask what they might suggest.

I like Phillip Kingsley Elasticiser. You put it on damp hair and leave it minimum of 20 mins-I prefer to leave it overnight. Unlike a lot of products it actually penetrates agd plumps the hair shaft and is a pre-shampoo treatment. I also use as little heat as possible and use perfect hair day 5 in 1 styler to protect the ends.
Something I've just bought to try after friends raving about is the 'wow' dream coat.
I'm also interested in your growth product- after two lots of cancer and two menopause, my hair is quite thin these days.

My hairdresser has had great success with quite a few of her clients. You only have to use it like only once a week and let me tell you I have noticed a huge difference. I use the shampoo, conditioner, and scalp elixir. I started using it because after I was so sick when I would comb my hair I lost so much hair. I have a ton of hair, so nobody noticed it but me.

I lost most of my hair after a long hospital stay and I used Hairtamin to grow my hair back. It came back in curly and very thick. I used to have stick straight fine hair and now my hairdresser actually has to use the thinning shears on it. I highly recommend it!
