Hi everyone! Both my mum and I are feeling out of sorts this morning so breakfast at Denny's a no go ... I actually called her and she had no idea it was Sunday and wouldn't have shown up anyway! . Cirque du Soleil Kooza last night was sooooo great! There was a dude who was the ringmaster who was extremely attractive in his own Cirque way ... my girlfriend and I were talking about him late into the night! Of course, the venue was downtown ... I HATE driving downtown ... and then leaving I'm driving downtown AT NIGHT ... I'm too old for this! This is what I posted on Facebook this morning ... Co-Op is a local grocery store that has membership numbers that have been around forever! It is not uncommon for adult children to still be using their parent's number. Reminds me of the early years of my marriage when we used my MIL's Costco membership! Anyway, my adult daughter's live with their Dad and continue to use his Co-Op membership number, hehehehehehe!!!! This is Canadian Thanksgiving weekend ... tomorrow is actual Thanksgiving ... I will be having my mum and my dd's over for dinner tonight ... no turkey ... we are going rogue and ordering Chinese! My mum is bringing pumpkin pie for those who want it ... I didn't go to the grocery store yesterday so I need to go today ... that's all I'll do before everyone shows up! What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a relaxing Sunday everybody!

Happy Thanksgiving weekend to my fellow Canadian friends!
We had our traditional turkey dinner yesterday so today’s dinner will be leftovers. Sometimes I like the turkey and fixings better in the second day. I’ve just had a turkey, dressing and cranberry sauce sandwich for lunch and it was yummy.
The weather has turned and it’s a chilly 6 degrees C here today. DH had the fireplace in when I got up this morning so it was toasty in the house.

Hi leannec I'm glad your show was good. I know exactly what you mean about driving at night, in a busy place you are unfamiliar with. Chloe has the second card to my Sam's club membership. 😂 I have some chicken I must cook today. Probably wild rice and squash will accompany it. I have laundry going. I was dismayed to see I have like 4 loads today. Boo hiss... I just cleaned up my kitchen and browned some sausage before it went bad. We will have that in a pasta tomorrow. Then that should be about the end of what I have for groceries at home. I am having a rough time with my brain this week. I need to finish that blanket, I want to start the crossstitch. So these two competing thoughts have left me not doing either of them for the past week. And so I have been reading those short stories. But now I'm up to the part in one of the books where the story is in the form of a poem. Yuck. So I don't want to do that either. Jeremy says skip it and go on to the next but my brain is saying no. These are the kinds of things where I feel like I might be on the autism spectrum. I have been thinking more about that since Esther died. She would have been paralyzed into indecision too.

We are having corned beef and cabbage for dinner tonight. For lunch/Lions game, we are having funeral sandwiches. I did somehow come across the original recipe- I know because it says to use "dollar buns", and I remember most of us didnt know what those are!

leannec My late MIL let us use her Sam's Club card once so we could get gas after taking her to treatment. My husband jokingly said it was for "members only"! His mom never did pick up on his sarcasm. Not sure what's for dinner tonight. Usually we do fish, rice, and a veggie on Sundays, but I might ask DH if we can just have spaghetti. I'm feeling lazy and my arms are still sore from yesterday. I had to do laundry after we got our shots, so I'm fine with something easy. It's only a bit after noon, though, so we have some time to decide.

Lately the back of my knees have been bothering me. It's so weird, first one knee then nothing. A few days later, the other knee. Always later in the day. Big showdown between our 9ers and the Cowboys this evening. Always a good game. I've gotten up to DS's first birthday in my crop prep. By the time he was 13 months old, he had flown down to San Diego 3 times and once to Clearwater, FL by way of Baton Rouge. Luckily he was a good traveler! Not sure what's for dinner, I'm going to Raley's later.

Good evening all and Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian tribe members.
I have had a lovely afternoon. After church, I met a friend and we went to a Wool Market. It was near a riding school, and as well as the wool, there were pony rides and lots of stall run by locals selling fruit, vegetables, honey and other local produce. I bought a reasonable amount of year - enough for a sweater for me (I saw the pattern at a stall and loved it) and I think four skeins of sock yarn. One is pastels with glitter yarn, which I think Sophia will like.
I have just arrived home and poured myself a glass of wine. The guys are at the football, where it is just after half time, so I am on my own for dinner and probably until about 9pm, by the time the game ends and they make their way home the trains. There was a lot of Spanish lentil stew leftover last night, so I will eat some of that.

Why did I think you were a pea who didn't care for corned beef? I must have had you confused with someone else.

Hi dinner peas. Been awhile. Going to be 95 degrees here today so I am fixing pasta with a butter lemon sauce and steamed broccoli along with a salad. Easy and I don't have to use the oven. Ready for fall weather.

I feel like that is more because we think of it as coming from Britain/Ireland, but the British peas never know what the hell we are talking about because it does not, in fact, come from there. 😂😂😂

To this day, I've never had it! I'm not a picky eater so chances are I would like it!

Once was at the home of a relative- she was American, her husband was Canadian. It was not good- I was about 10 and after that, Im surprised I tried it again. Another time was at Stratford on a school trip. Got food poisoning. 😂😂

I didn't know what dollar buns were so I Googled. Guess what popped up in the seach results? 2Peas Funeral Sandwhich Thread.

Update: we're having fish for dinner so that we don't mess up the kitchen since DH cleaned it.
He also just asked me when we're going to Boston in the spring... Boston in the spring, New England for our anniversary next fall. He surprises me every day, but we've been talking about both. I'm excited.

And it links to the Recipe board where I couldnt find it! 😂😂 They were good, but I used a sugar and spice ham (new from Boars Head) and Kings Hawaiian original rolls. I think we could have done without the brown sugar. If Id used plain rolls, then the brown sugar would have been fine.

It’s been a busy weekend. Wedding stuff which seems never ending. Jewelry stuff because our show/sale will be soon after.
This afternoon went to the pumpkin weigh off with dd & Luke.
Tonight we saw Jesus Christ Superstar at the theatre. We didn’t get our old seats. Now we’re a few rows back It was still close enough. Although I couldn’t tell with my glasses.
We ate pizza & salad before because I had no time to cook.

I feel like that is more because we think of it as coming from Britain/Ireland, but the British peas never know what the hell we are talking about because it does not, in fact, come from there. 😂😂😂 I also assumed it was very much a British dish. Both sides of my family are from the UK, and I grew up eating it. We usually call it "silverside" here, and I think NZ and UK call it silverside too. So maybe that's why British peas have previously not known what you were talking about? Whatever it's called, I LOVE it, but DSO hates it, so I rarely get to enjoy it. Maybe I should just pop over to your house for dinner. We had my aunty's 90th birthday on Sunday afternoon. We ate lots and lots of yummy finger food all afternoon, so I was not at all hungry at dinnertime. I ended up eating some rechauffed tuna mornay at about 9pm. This was my contribution to the birthday party food - mini lemon meringue pies. Lemon meringue pie (a full size one) is my traditional Christmas dish, but as we haven't had Christmas with that side of the family for about 5 years, my cousin has missed out, and he asked my stepmum if I would be making a lemon meringue pie. She told him no, because we were having finger food. I thought I would accomodate his request my making mini pies. They're so cute! (But OMG, soooooo fiddly to make!)

YES!! ntsf and I were actually at that coffee shop for damn near 4 hours, believe it or not. We’ve been trying to set up a meet for months. So happy we finally managed it. I would say we are definitely on the same wavelength. Dinner was scrambled eggs with veggies and cheese. I really needed to get some protein inside me. Been living on cruddy carbs all weekend. Unless something goes wrong, tomorrow will be my last chemo. I am more excited than I can say about this. Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian members! My 40yo DD who lives in another part of the state is still on my Costco account. Wait, corned beef isn’t Irish? Why do I make one every St. Patrick’s Day? (LOVE corned beef and I need to make one [from my freezer] this fall, too.) snyder, thanks for the link. I don’t know where my copy of the recipe has gone. AussieMeg, those lemon meringue bites are so cute! cadoodlebug, do you know if your Raley’s still does pickup and delivery orders? I didn’t place any orders for several weeks when I was out of town and then in the hospital, and now the the app says “pickup and delivery not available until further notice.” nooooo … I haven’t been inside that giant store since the pandemic started, and I don’t want to start now. ALSO is it okay if I send you a couple of pix to make postable for me? Sorry for being so incompetent about this.
