Any suggestions for a unique wedding gift for a second marriage? This couple is in their early 50’s, and they did just move into a new home together. I know cash is always great but I would love to give something a bit more creative.

Since they probably have doubles of everything already how about a certificate for an experience instead of another kitchen appliance or dustable decorative. I gave my son and his fiancé a certificate to one of those escape rooms for Christmas and they loved it. They had fun and didn’t have to find someplace to keep another object in their small apartment. If you don’t think that would be appropriate, look into fun things to do near their home.

A gift card to a cooking class and maybe a utensil they might use from that class would be fun.

In my area of the country, gifts at wedding are extremely rare. Cash is just what is given at weddings. Gifts are given for the shower. You could do a gift card for a nice restsurant that you know they like.

I would go for an experience or gift card. I really enjoyed a lunch cruise I was gifted for our 10th anniversary.

Just a PSA--my son recently went to a large wedding for one of his best friends (so the guy confided in him...) He received a lot of gift cards but there were "a lot" that weren't valid. People steal the numbers and spend it down, then innocent people buy a gift card worth zero. His friend said he's not going to mention it to anyone because of course they would feel bad. He said the best way is to buy the gift cards online, not at a display in a store.

Gift certificate to a restaurant, winery or brewery.
A blanket inscribed with their names and wedding date.

They don’t lose their value with time if unused.

Is the a membership you could give them? My go-to baby shower gift is often a zoo membership starting when the kiddo is 6 months or so. Maybe something like this for adults?

I would give a nice bottle of champagne, but only if I knew that they would enjoy it.

When I got married for the second time I really wished I could have requested no gifts but I know (probably from the Peas) is that any mention of gifts isn’t appropriate.
We received mostly money. One friend gave us one of those wall hangings with photos of letters from architecture. It says love and hangs in my bedroom. We also received a couple of nice photo frames and a serving dish.

We were combining two complete households and really didn't need anything at all. I did put something about your presence is our present but everyone still brought something. We appreciated everything we received of course but I must admit, the wine was probably most appreciated - it was consumable. how do they steal the numbers? This article explains one way - they take a couple of cards, put the number of one over the second and put the second one back on the rack. When the fake one is purchased, they empty the one they kept. I actually found one last year, luckily before I paid for it.

Sometimes they scratch off the silver stuff over the numbers in the store and write them down and holes an unsuspecting person buys that card so the thief can use it later. You have to make sure any card you buy still has that strip intact. Sometimes it isn’t intentional that the card is empty, we’ve had situations where the person buying them is getting a bunch of gift cards at once and one of the cards in the middle of the stack doesn’t get scanned in the store so nothing gets loaded on it.

I got married for the 2nd time this last November. We did make a registry, so you might look on Amazon, Target, etc. for ideas of things they may need. We had some things that just needed replacing after 25+ years of use and we wanted some new things to make our combined house feel more like US than like HIM and HER, especially since I was moving into his house. We got mostly gift cards (which all worked!) with a few registry items.

Get them a gift card for something like bowling or axe throwing or movie theater... and then a restaurant gift card... and its a fun night out..
You can package it in a cute way depending on what date you pick..

What about a plaque with their new house number on it? Or a plaque with their wedding date like this one. This site has the house plaques—search “house plaques”. There’s also a crock that you can personalize.
