What would you dress up as if you were dressing up?
The bar I run karaoke at is having a Halloween party and scaraoke and apparently everyone dresses up. .at 5'9 and 190, I can't be sexy anything, but I also don't want to be completely frumpy. In addition, I have to be able to set up the equipment and run the dj equipment, so nothing that keeps me from seeing.
What are you dressing up as? Any ideas for me?

I am dressing up as 1970s Cher. I am wearing a caftan and long straight wig.
I chose this because it is for school. The second grade team is all dressing up as fhe decade they were born in.
60s, 70s, 80s, and 2000s

I’m tempted to be Barbie but I know that will be so common. I might be a witch, but also looking for ideas.

I bought this off Temu and it's so cute other than being a bit too long for me (I'm 5'2"). I'll put on some platforms. I'm wearing this to an art fest I'm doing. share.temu.com/3wjZm4Qxc4AI also got a skeleton print sweatsuit for passing out candy. 🎃👻☠️

We usually go to a Halloween dance with friends. We cycle through our costume stash lol. I think this year we may pull out Garcia & Rossie (Criminal Minds) again. I have a blonde wig that is similar to her hair, amd a polka dot dress, with a pink cardigan amd I found glasses with cherries on them. I put a big flower on the wig and wear some costume jewellery and voila - Penelope Garcia! Found a photo….

I’d make a glow in the dark skeleton sweatsuit with HTV. Quick, relatively cheap and easy and you can see and move easily in it. Plus with glow in the dark people will still be able to see you in a dark bar which would be cool. Do a hooded sweatshirt and put the skull on the hood. 💀
I saw the most awesome Animal costume on a Muppet Makers Facebook page today but I’m not nearly tall enough or skinny enough to pull that one off!

Isn't Animal about 2-3 ft tall? 🤭

I'm going as Morticia (I'm a bit lumpy at 5'7" and 160lbs so I need to find some cheap shape wear to help me out) in a body con black floor length long sleeve dress from Temu with black pumps that I haven't worn in over 30 years (I think they were senior prom?) and a long black wig, red lips, dark makeup, red nails, and a 3d printed red rose. My staff are going as Wednesday, Lurch, Gomez and I'm 3d printing Thing for Wednesday to carry around.
My DD is going as Tammy from Bob's Burgers- that's an easy one to do if you have blonde hair that can go into a side pony.
DS is going as a dragon.
One of my all time favorite costumes is the game of operation! I made it using gray sweats, red flannel for lining the cut outs, white felt with velcro on the back and glow ironed on the front of it. A friend is borrowing it this year.
I've also got a butterfly costume- black tank top/leggings and wings from amazon
Or a crayon- colored shirt with the crayola design on it, matching tutu and leggings (or black leggings) and a big bow the color of the shirt
Go as a witch and hit the thrift stores to find a black gown, buy a hat.
GoGo dancer- Temu has some awesome dresses!

What about a Beyoncé fan? Dress all in silver. Taylor swift - the Eras tour showed us just about anything can make a Swifty costume, she has so many different looks.
I often find it’s easier to work backwards for costumes: who do you look like, or do you have a specific piece of clothing that resembles a pop culture icon? Could you go to a thrift store to find an item to build a costume around?

I bought a long black velvet Renaissance Fair type dress. I don't know what I'm going to do with it yet- I can't decide whether to go vampire or demon or dark fairy or something else. I just thought the dress will be pretty versatile and I can also use it for Ren Fest.

DH isn’t much for dressing up but will do something if it is simple. 2 years ago, I got him a shirt made with the Jack Daniela logo on it. I has a Coca Cola shirt. We were Jack and Coke. Last year he wore a Corona shirt and I wore a green and white shirt as the lime. This year I’m getting him a Fireball shirt and I’m making a Rum Chatta shirt.

with your job, 70's disco queen? Do a Cyndi Lauper type look. It's more 80s but I doubt anyone will call you out on it.

In 2019, we were part of a group costume where I was Glinda the Good Witch and my 6 foot tall husband was a munchkin. I just donated the Glinda costume as it shed so much glitter that I couldnt take it out of the bag! That one was pricey! 2020- pandemic, no party 2021- dh and I were Jack and Sally from Nightmare before Christmas. I am in no way "Sally shaped". 2022 - we were out of town 2023- If we decide to go, we are going to be deer- a couple Christmases ago I bought us all matching reindeer onesies. For the costume, I bought us black gloves and makeup for noses- and orange safety vests as we are going to be deer who do not want to be hunted.

My youngest is going as some military person & my oldest has a cape and Maleficent horns so I'm balancing it out with a Cheer Care Bears outfit. It's an oversized fuzzy sweatshirt with leggings from HalloweenCostumes.com so comfy & warm for ToTing.

One of the people working the tasting room of a winery we went to this weekend was dressed as Maleficent. She had on black jeans, a black tee and a black feathered collar and headdress. I thought it looked simple, cool and fairly comfortable for the amount of work she had to be doing. They were hosting a fall festival at the same time with food trucks, cellar tours, photo booths, live music and goat yoga, so we saw her everywhere doing a lot of different types of work. Similar feathered collarSimilar headgear but there seem to be a ton of options available.

We're going to be King and Queen of Hearts. I bought a couple of t-shirts from Temu with a K and a red heart on the corner of the shirt and another one with a Q and red heart. We both have a crown and tiara that was presented to us when we did a fundraiser so might as well put it to good use, lol

Our friends throw a great Halloween party every year with great themes. This is it's a Wizard of Oz theme. I'm going to be a tornado and my husband the Tin Man.
