Yall, I have searched Pinterest and google for ideas til my eyes are crossed and have come up with a big fat goose egg! My sister and her 2 adult daughters and I are going on a one day road trip to an antique-junk-trade days event. I want to come up with some kind of silly/fun game or challenge for while we are there, but my imagination and google are letting me down! Something along the lines of buying something for $5 that…… ?? I want us to draw names so we have a person in our group to shop specifically for, but what can the hook be to make it funny? Edit to add: I got the idea last night when I saw a group of women about to leave for a trip together. They all bought hilarious t shirts and whichever one they randomly ended up with, they had to wear it on the airplane the next day!

That kind of thing would not appeal to me. I wouldn't wear a t-shirt, nor do I want to waste money buying something for someone else.
I would be more inclined to participate, if it were an "we're on a adventure" type of "bucket list" thing.
Have a fancy beverage. I love milkshakes! Have dessert with lunch or dinner. But something for yourself. Buy a card or postcard and mail it to someone (make sure to bring some postage stamps). Take silly photographs.

I think maybe find something you don't know what it is and take a picture and have everyone make up what they think it is could be fun. I always see something at antique stores I have no idea what they are used for. Usually a kitchen item.
Maybe have a contest who can find the ugliest figurine. Again just take a picture of it.
First one to find something they used to own in their childhood.

You could make up a Bingo card. It could be really specific or just general, a wooden chair from a specific style or just a wooden chair. A mailbox, a hobby horse. You could make different cards for each person if you feel like you'd be following right behind each other checking off the same things.
Draw names and the item you have to buy has to start with the same letter as their first name or their favourite colour or from the year/decade they were born.

We used to do stuff like this in my family all the time.
Draw names, then split up and you have an hour to buy something for that person, then we all vote on who bought the best gift, then that person gets a prize.
You could also do it with pictures on your phone instead of actually buying the thing - Who can find the most “________(creepy clowns/flamingos/tacky handmade crafts_____” in an hour

I like the bingo card, and everyone could just take a quick pic for "proof" if they don't want to buy it.
The winner gets to have a paid lunch/dinner from everyone else?
If your group is the type that likes white elephant type gifts you could all also do that, buy a little knicknack or postcard or whatever and mix them up and everyone gets to bring one home.
Things I can NEVER resist at an antique/thrift type market (when not ridiculously overpriced, and they have to be interesting) include ceramic flamingos and roosters made in Japan, velvet paintings, tiny ceramic animals, unusual dollhouse finds, creepy old dolls and especially miniature fashion dolls, those 70s glass votive holders with a hurricane lid, old needlepoint, small pictures in round frames, and anything weird and wonderful that I can incorporate into art. I'm jealous of your trip! I can only find those kinds of things very rarely around here.

My daughters and I done photo scavenger hunts even though we don’t live near each and then share the photos. You could do this too. Make a list of odd little things you might see and then take a photo. At the end of the day share the photo. Winner gets a candy bar or dessert is paid by everyone in the group or something like that. Don’t share or tell what you’ve collected until the end.

I think it's a cute idea, but I'd keep it very simple.
I think it would be fun to look for one item and take a picture of it (ugliest doll, favorite childhood toy, etc), but I wouldn't want to spend my day trying to fill a bingo card instead of shopping for what I really want to find.

I think I'd do a bingo card of things to look for while shopping. One favorite item from your childhood, an item your grandmother used/owned, ugliest doll, most expensive ____, tackiest home decor, what the heck is this item, I should buy this item for _____, etc,,,, just take pictures of the items so no cost involved. Compare at the end of the day/trip/certain time and see who can get bingo.
I think it would be fun to draw names and buy one funny/tacky/ugly thing for one other person. All under $5 and the cheaper the better!
