Today I watched Ryan Gosling as
* Ken in I’m just Ken at the beach scene.
*. Sierra 6 in The Gray Man
*. The driver in Drive
Yesterday it was Jacob the guy who picked up women in bars and did the Dirty Dancing lift in Crazy Stupid Love.
All are completely different types of characters.
And I still have La La Land and Blade Runner 2045 to watch.
The actors I’m aware of/like tend to stick to the same type of character. Like Glen Powell who played Hangman in Top Gun Maverick. I liked him so I checked other movies he has made. They tend to be, what do they call them, rom com. Which is ok but I think he can do other things. I would like to see him do other things.
I’m finding out I like seeing actors play different type of characters and that’s why I’m enjoying Gosling’s movies. But he was kind of creepy as the driver in Drive.
Who do you see as a good versatile actor?

I also love him in All Good Things and The Notebook.
I thought I would hate The Notebook (Nicholas Sparks schlock) but I watched it because I love Rachel McAdams. OMG I cried so hard. What a sap! I cry every single time.
All Good Things is based on the true story and it's an excellent movie.
Really liked LaLaLand too, and I really have to tread lightly with musicals.

Meryl Streep, Eddie Redmayne and for her abilities with accents, Jodie Comer from Killing Eve. The fact that her native accent is Scouse throws me every time.

Benedict Cumberbatch.
Eddie Redmayne.
A lot of people seem to have a love/hate relationship with Tom Hanks and Leo di Caprio but I think they are both excellent, versatile actors.

All of these plus Meryl Streep I’m sure there are others if I think about it more. Too early and should really be heading out the door to school!

Don't forget Murder by Numbers! Yet another Gosling version.
Anyhow, I am not a big Woody Harrelson fan, but I think he has surprising range. And Heath Ledger when he was alive -- man.

Woody Harrelson was amazing in the first season of True Detective. I think Timothy Olyphant and Walton Goggins are both versatile. Such a wide range of roles for both.

Matt Damon is one of my faves - action, dramatic roles, comedy. He’s very appealing to me and my husband has watched his Jason Bourne movies many times. I loved when he was a guest on Will & Grace. It was one of the first times I’d seen him in a comedic role and it made me a much bigger fan.

Maggie Smith
Elijah Wood
Saoirse Ronan
Melanie Lynsky - for me, her most memorable roles so far have been in Heavenly Creatures and Two and a Half Men, but I also really liked her in I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore

I'm not a movie person so I'm going to go with Ted Danson. I was amazed by his performance in Damages after seeing him in comedies.

When I think of versatile actors I think of the less famous actors who are in every tv show and movie but you have no clue what their names are. I feel like JK Simmons is a good example. He’s been in over 200 roles and they span so many years.
There’s a bunch more people I can think of but I don’t know their names!

He’s been in a ton of movies.

So many great actors mentioned already. I will add Cate Blanchett to the list, and Daniel Day-Lewis. Jodie Comer from Killing Eve. The fact that her native accent is Scouse throws me every time. It was hysterical to me hearing her speak in her Scouse accent after just watching her on Killing Eve! And speaking of a scents and versatile actors, last night I watched the first episode of a new Australian series on Paramount, called 'One Night'. Jodie Whittaker plays one of the leads, and she does the BEST Australian accent I have ever heard, by a non-Australian.

I’m officially a Ryan Gosling fan. And a fan of Emily Blunt as well. Their latest movie is Fall Guy and the first trailer was released. My kind of movie. In theaters March 1. youtu.be/j7jPnwVGdZ8?si=KZJXNl3WIgUfBz86This is what I thought when I watched the trailer…. From Collider…. ”Ryan Gosling's Stunts in 'The Fall Guy' Might Give Tom Cruise a Run for His Money”

for me to think someone is versatile, they have to be able to play good guy and villain roles and be credible at both. i want to hate them in one movie and totally sympathize with them in another. john travolta is one of those actors. as much as i love tom hanks, i will never find him believable as a villain. i think jessica chastain can be both and be good at it.

Many have been mentioned already, but I will add John Lithgow. Funny as hell, but he also won a very well-deserved Emmy for playing a villain on Dexter. He was seriously chilling in that role. He also won an award for portraying Churchill in The Crown. He's just good in everything.
Also, Sally Field.

Who do you see as a good versatile actor? Wow, he’s coming to San Francisco. My new favorite actor in my neck of the woods. How about that. link“ Ryan Gosling and Greta Gerwig to Kick Off Awards Season In SF at SFFILM Awards; Also Nicolas Cage to Be Honored”“Barbie auteur Greta Gerwig and star Ryan Gosling will be coming to San Francisco for next week's SFFILM Awards, and the star-studded event will also include a lifetime achievement award being given to actor Nicolas Cage. SFFILM, the organization behind the annual San Francisco International Film Festival, announced Wednesday that the honorees at this years SFFILM Awards Night will be Oscar nominee Greta Gerwig, Oscar winner Nicolas Cage, Oscar winner Roger Ross Williams, and writer and filmmaker Cord Jefferson. The awards ceremony will be held on Monday, December 4, at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts — and it's a fundraiser for SFFILM, so ticket prices start at $1,000. Ryan Gosling — who seems like a shoe-in for another Oscar nod this year for his performance as Ken in Barbie — will be on hand to present the The Irving M. Levin Award for Film Direction to Gerwig. Past heavyweights who have received the award include Francis Ford Coppola, Spike Lee, Oliver Stone, Kathryn Bigelow, Jane Campion, and last year's honoree Ryan Coogler. Gerwig, who has previously been nominated for Academy Awards for Ladybird and Little Women, has yet to win a major directorial prize, though she seems all but guaranteed to be in the mix at the Oscars again this year. Cage will be honored with the Maria Manetti Shrem Lifetime Achievement Award for Acting — which last year was given to Barbie star Margot Robbie, and other previous honorees include Robin Williams, Jeremy Irons, and Glenn Close.
