Two of DH's siblings have recently downsized and moved and their homes have zebra blinds on all windows. I fell in love with them. We are ready to upgrade our window coverings -it's been 23 years that seemingly went by in the blink of an eye.
If you have them, are you happy with them? do you have the corded or cordless ones operated by remote control? If you use a remote, and change the position of the blinds frequently, do you go through a ton of batteries?

I've not heard them called that, but we have them in our living room. Ours are corded because we mostly just set them for the day and then close them at night. I like them a lot, and will probably replace a few other blinds in the house (bedroom, office) with them eventually.

Thanks! My sister told me that corded blinds are no longer sold in Canada. Theirs are remote controlled.

We have remote controlled blinds, they're programmed to go up and down at certain times of day or we can use the app on our phones to open/close them.

Thanks! My sister told me that corded blinds are no longer sold in Canada. Theirs are remote controlled. we were told this 4 years ago when we redid our blinds. There are cords but there is no give for a head to fit through. They seem very safe.

We have them in the office. They were called layered shades when I ordered them 2 years ago from Lowes. DH and I love them, so versatile. Mine do have a cord as we have no pets or young children.

I have never seen those in a home before, they look pretty nice. I'm obviously getting old though because motorized, app controlled blinds do nothing for me except make me roll my eyes and go "seriously?"

I have a large window in my stairwell that would need to be motorized if I wanted to put them up and down. I can't even reach the window sill. These are really nice!

I was just going say … another remote to keep track of in every single room? Or having to find my phone to raise/lower the blinds? No thank you. These look nice but I’ll keep my corded blinds for now. Also, get off my lawn. 😂

I'm obviously getting old though because motorized, app controlled blinds do nothing for me except make me roll my eyes and go "seriously?" I have Silhouette blinds in my large family room windows. They are wonderful. The slats open at 7:30 am and close at sunset. It's all set in the app and I never have to worry about it. I charge the batteries once a year. That's it. I can open the blinds completely either with the app or the remote, but I don't do it very much so no remote to keep up with. I also have drapes in my bedroom that open and close on schedule. It's awesome.

An Air BnB we just stayed at had these. They were very nice. They were not remote controlled.

Do you know which brand you have?

What are they made of? I wouldn't be able to get anything that collected dust (fabric wise). They look pretty though.

We had them years ago in our daughter's room. I just chose them because I like them. Her window faced northwest.

Are they fabric? I can't do fabric. I have cellular blinds in my living room that started out white and are now gray. They cannot be cleaned other than vacuumed, which is a pain in the ass, and doesn't clean them completely, and you can't get into the little honeycomb cell. If they are fabric and be washed, I could do that, but most blinds like that are even more work to try to clean if even possible.
I live on a busy street and we open windows in good weather. My house gets really dusty.

I’d need to see them in person but looking at the pics my first impression is that I like them.
As to motorized shades, they are AWESOME! The windows in my living room are huge and take up one entire wall (14’ ceiling) and the shades would be a pain (aka too heavy) to manually raise and lower. I bought motorized shades when I moved In 6 years ago and couldn’t be happier. That said, I am a one person household and an everything in its place girl so losing the remote is not an issue. For those concerned with it, you can wall mount the remote as well. Kind of like a thermostats on the wall. Plus you can get them in different colors to make them easier to spot. I considered The lime green for that reason, but ended up with the white remote.
I think Once one tries motorized blinds it might be difficult to go back to corded!

They are not exactly Zebra blinds, but similar. Silhouette is a different Hunter Douglas product that's more like a zebra blind. Pirouettes look like Roman shades when they're folded up, then they fold down to block light. We got them at a specialty store. We've had them for about 6 years and they still look great.

Do you know the brand of your shades? Also wondering if the remote runs on batteries or if you charge it. They are Hunter Douglas. The remote runs with one of those flats, round batteries. My shades (there are 3 of them) each run on 12 AAA batteries. I believe they can be hardwired as well. That was not an option for me at the time. I rarely have had to change the battery in the remote, and the shades themselves usually need changing about once a year. It has surprised me that it has not been more often than that. While I can ( of course) stop mine at any height, they are usually fully open or fully closed. Since no one can see in my windows I only use them for sun protection. So I wonder if because I only use them once a day, if that helps with the battery life. Anyhow, if you go to one of the good shade manufacturer’s sites, there should be a ton of info and probably newer technology, etc. I’ll bet they can be paired to an Amazon Echo, or a Google Home hub.
