Hey, welcome to the club! Of all the things I never thought iI’d have to call 911 for - a van drive I to my house was one of them. The accident did shake my house like an earthquake and was extremely loud. My dog was in the house with me and had a lot of anxiety with loud noises after. I ended up getting her some ‘happy’ pills from the vet just to take the edge of while all the construction was going on.

Holy cow! How scary! So glad everyone is okay, including the driver.
Big hugs to all of you and your sweet pup.

You have always been a part of the heist. You're only mad now because you don't like your cut.

Thank goodness for the hedges and that no one was home except for the poor pup, who hopefully will recover soon. But at least she wasn't physically hurt.

I also had a car hit my house. It was unmanned though. I lived on a hill lot and the neighbors across the street had a 70s Corvette convertible in their drive that they left out of gear and/or no parking beaking set.
Funny thing is I was in the bathroom, heard the thud and slight boom feel. And I saw ripples in toilet water of all things.
At first I thought "can furnace or something explode?" Nope. Then "car?" did occur to me. I ran out front and saw nothing there or on either side. We had a long line (100ish feet) of hedges and they were not disturbed...
Still unsure what happened, the neighbor called and apologized and said if there was any damage they'd cover it.
Then I went outside and around back and saw it slammed into the huge old air conditioning system cage. To get there it had to go directly through sidewalk opening of hedges (center of house) curve to the right to miss the corner of the house and then further curve to miss the porch and concrete steps on that side. And then curve the opposite direction just in time to miss the apple trees and hit the one spot on the house that would do little damage. Not far from lower sliding doors. Crazy. Crazy lucky.
I still wish I could have seen it happen to understand how it really did. Lol

The fire department said they call that accident a ‘thread the needle’. The guy (who lived down the street) that hit my house first hit a car (totaled it and pushed it three houses down), over corrected and made a sharp turn into my house. He avoided a kid in the street (thank goodness), went between the street light and my car in the driveway before crashing into my house.
You know, the peas always are a wealth of information and experiences! I haven’t meet any other person in real life who’s house was hit by a car. And yet, there’s a whole group on here!!

I’m so glad no one was hurt. Two years ago a car crashed into my brother’s house in Ogden , and pushed a wash into my brother, hurting his shoulder badly. Extensive repairs were made to the house, and my brother went through a lot of pain.

I’m so glad it wasn’t any worse than it was, but it still had to be freaky as all hell to get that call. Unfortunately it’s not as uncommon as one might think. My sister’s in-laws had that happen TWICE (once when mom and dad lived in the house and again years later when her BIL and his family were living there). DH was at work once when someone drove right through the front wall and windows of the building he was working in, and only missed him by about three minutes. He had been standing right where the car came through just before it happened, but he went to help someone and was on the other side of the store. And another time, an elderly woman drove through the retaining wall in front of my business. She thought she had the car in reverse but instead it was in drive and she plowed straight through the cinder block wall. 😳 There's a house out in the country, a few miles from where I grew up, that got hit more than once. It was a T intersection, so people heading south had to turn either east or west; there was no road to continue south - but more than one driver did. Thing is, the farmhouse was set well back from the road, and there was not exactly a ditch, but close to it, right as you’d leave the pavement. They ended up planting some trees in the front yard, hoping the trees would stop a car before it got to the house again.

The neighbors across the street from me growing up lost a porch, and a drunk guy went through a hedge and barely missed my sister's house in 2006ish. Glad you are OK!

The really weird thing with my sister’s IL’s house is that it’s right in the middle of a city but on a fairly busy street. I don’t even think it was a corner house, maybe one house in from the corner, but if someone had been out drinking and missed that turn they would end up right in the yard. I think I’d be investing in a big boulder after having that happen once!

How awful. I'm so sorry for your poor dog. I too would suggest asking for bush equivalents in size vs baby plants. I hope things get restored quickly.
