give up on?
I watched several seasons of each of these before stopping: Seinfeld How I Met Your Mother Two and a Half Men Good Girls How to Get Away with Murder
In all cases, I felt that the characters really didn't grow. They kept making the same mistakes over and over. For the last two, I watched all the way til the final season before giving up.

Yellowstone with Kevin Costner. It was great for a few seasons and then just went....off.

I don't necessarily give up on them, I just drift away, even if it is a show I really enjoy. Not really sure why but I have rarely seen the last season or two of any show.

It's pretty rare for me to watch all of anything. I think I just get bored with the characters after several seasons and want something new, perhaps?

The Walking Dead is the only show I can think of that I gave up on. All of the other shows I watch I may not watch week to week but I eventually binge seasons. But I haven’t watched a single episode of TWD since season five.

Once Upon a Time. It got convoluted. Was before the time shift; but I came back to watch the initial finale.
Grey's Anatomy. I still record it; but that's more out of laziness.
There are lots of shows I just never started, like Station 19.

Another vote for Grey’s Anatomy. There were a lot of hospital/doctor shows towards/at the ed of ER, and they all felt subpar to ER and I couldn't get into any of them.
I also didn’t care for: Parenthood Fear the Walking Dead How I Met Your Mother

We tried Breaking Bad twice cause everyone raved - just did but enjoy. We tried a few episodes of Schitts creek and heat we really need to give longer - we’ll see. We don’t watch much so do t waste our time if we don’t enjoy.

The Crown. I watched up until the season where Charles decided not to marry Camilla, and she married Andrew Parker Bowles instead. I think Princess Anne also married for the first time at the end of that series. After that, it was all things that I remembered happening, so it wasn't so much fun any more.
That is probably the only one where I made a decision not to keep watching. There are others, especially recently with so many streaming options, where I just get interested in something new and 'forget' to come back to older shows, then I can't remember where I'm up to, so give up.

It takes a little while to warm up to the characters’ quirks and see the relationships between them.

I forgot to answer the original question. It’s usually a sci-fi or fantasy show with a large cast of characters and multiple locations — The Expanse and The Witcher come to mind. I just get lost after the break between seasons. If I binge them through multiple seasons, I stay with them longer. Altered Carbon was another one — they changed all the characters in the second season and I just couldn’t follow anymore.

In the past two years I've gone back and watched season 8 & 9. They were okay but I loved, loved, loved the Michael years.

Walking Dead. I'd like to go back and finish it but there are way too many other shows.
This season of Survivor. I've watched most of the past seasons but I just couldn't get into this one.

Yup. The more supernatural it got, the less I enjoyed it, plus the characters started acting inconsistent with how they'd been written I thought. I jumped ship on pretty much every procedural. Law and Order, SVU, CSI. I also abandoned Grey's Anatomy.
