It’s a little bit cold and calculating, but in real estate law, an on-site, prior murder and a supposed ghost are both issues that do not affect the physical state of the house, but can impact both that home’s value and the experience of living there.
I don't think I am superstitious, but I'd have to really love a house to ignore a murder or those who say it is haunted. I think there are things that we (humans in 2023) don't entirely understand. I don't want to tempt fate.

NOPE! No way. I think a haunted house would be very annoying. I like both my privacy and my sleep.

It wouldn’t bother me to live in a house which was supposedly haunted or to live in a house where a murder took place. I would be concerned about resale value.

I think I’d be ok in a murder or haunted house but I often say I don’t believe in ghosts at 2pm but at 2am I’m a little more open minded. My mind might play tricks on me

Nah. I'm neurotic enough. Don't need to add anything more to that.

Haunted would not bother me. I don’t really believe in it, but it’s neat to think about the possibilities.
Murder would depend. Targeted? No issues. Random home invasion? I would avoid.

A house down the street from me is going for sale soon. A murder-suicide took place there in February. I'm interested to see how long it takes to sell.

For me it would depend on the house and the price. I am not superstitious nor do I believe in ghosts so if it was a great deal on a fabulous house that I loved, I'd probably go for it.

I rented an apartment where the last tenant was murdered in the apartment and it didn't bother me.
I can see worrying about lookie-loos, weirdos, and resale value.

I've shared my haunted work story enough times that I can stand by my "NOPE". It was not scary for me, but it was super annoying and very strange. To this day I'm trying to rationalize it and I can't.

Sure. I don't care about that and don't believe in hauntings. Even if it really is a possibility that there are ghosts and haunted houses, I would be completely immune because I would just not see it.
I've been spending the weekend with my sister and she firmly believes in signs and ghosts and whatnot and is convinced that she has an unhappy ghost at her house. She makes a convincing argument, but then again, I can explain away everything she thinks is a sign, so I think a ghost would get pretty frustrated with me. I'm a born skeptic.

I don’t believe in ghosts, and the former owner died in our current house so a death in the house clearly doesn’t bother me.
I’d have a hard time with a house if it was either famous or infamous, so while a murder or something violent like that wouldn’t deter me, if it was very publicized I wouldn’t do it.

I wouldn't search for one specifically, but if I like it enough and the price was right, I'd have no issue living in a house that is supposed to be haunted or where something bad happened. I just don't believe that these sorts of things have any impact on an inanimate object like a house.
However, this came up before in a recent thread...what I would have an issue with is people coming to look/hang around the house because of what happened there in the past or because they are looking for ghosts. I'd never live in a house that was famous (or infamous) for that reason.
So yes I could, but no I wouldn't.

A «Haunted» house wouldn’t bother me. As for murder, that depends on how long ago it happened. Five years ago would bother me, while a century ago would not.

I don't think I could live in a house where someone was murdered, especially as a previous poster mentioned if it was a home invasion.
I'd think about the whys and whatfors probably every night as I went to sleep.
Now, haunted I could probably handle, but not murder.

Haunted house wouldn't bother me. Murder would depend on timing
When my parents sold the old house, one of the questions that potential buyers asked if anyone died in the house. Relator said not to her knowledge. (Us and previous owners didn't die in home, no idea on original owner).

No.. my parents bought a house when I was a child and the owner had hung himself in the cellar. Weird things happened that couldn't be explained.. after only a year my mom moved us out of there in a hurry. I wish she was still here to ask about it in detail as I was around 8/9 at the time. So I'd pass just to be sure!

It all depends..if it was something like a huge documented/famous type murder, no because of the the weirdos out there. If it was suicide, that would be a no for me. Just to much sadness. It's not that I don't believe in ghosts, I just never had a ghost encounter that I know of. One house I lived in someone died of natural causes, there was never any issues/ghost things going on there.

It wouldn’t bother me to live in a house which was supposedly haunted or to live in a house where a murder took place. I would be concerned about resale value. It probably varies by state, but in California you only need to disclose a death in the house that occurred within the last three years. But if you are asked about it, you need to disclose it no matter how long ago it happened. I’ve never thought to ask about a death in any houses we looked at. I wouldn’t want to live in a famous house (either murder or haunted) because of the weirdos and looky-loos. I don’t know if I believe in haunted houses or not.

My dd and her dh did. It was around the year 2000. There was a big housing rush and it was hard to find a house. In our area anyway. They didn’t even love the house they bought ( their first house as a couple ) and it was stated on the real estate listing as *haunted *. As they were running out of options, they bought it. My dd is pretty fearless and they found it amusing. When they sold it, it was again during a huge real estate boom and sold it over asking. *haunting* listed. They never ever had any occasion to agree with the haunting aspect. Nothing ever happened at all in the 12 years they lived there.
