I'm going to a very upscale work event next month. I'm in need of some trendy cool sneakers I can wear to the daytime events as well as around the airports.
I am 52 and chubby, but still try to be a little hip. LOL. This event will be predominately men and they use these type of events to bring out their style and flair, so I need to try and not be the old fat fuddy duddy.
I plan on wearing black slacks with some cool t-shirt and a blazer or sweater as I'm sure it'll be -100 in the conference room. I'd like to wear some cool sneaks instead of flats or boots.
Suggestions? I'd be willing to pay about $150 but if cheaper is still cool I'd be even happier with that!

I feel like one of the trendiest styles right now are the New Balance 327. I’m wearing them right now and they are super cute and sporty.
I also really like my Veja tennis shoes, they are also trendy and I get compliments on them. I’ll look for photos.

Yeah. But they are a classic style and look good with so much.

Skechers arch fit slip ins in black. I bought some for a trip to Europe this fall and they are comfy! They held up well with all the walking we did.

Second the Veja sneaks. Adidas Sambas. Can't go wrong with a classic--Chuck Taylor's low or high, gum sole sneaks look retro and fresh.

If you’re looking for something kind of classic but still funky, check out my go-to Rocket Dog Jazzins! They’re a similar style to Converse with the toe cap but they fit my feet (and orthotics) better. They come in all kinds of fun patterns and colors, everything from vintage florals to tie dye and everything in between. I probably have about six different pairs of low tops plus one pair of white canvas high tops with side zippers that I’m going to customize with either HTV or fabric paint. I constantly get compliments when I wear them! www.rocketdog.com/collections/jazzin-sneakersIf you want another similar option, the Rocket Dog Jolissa is another fun shoe but with buckles on the side. www.rocketdog.com/products/jolissa-grey-ranger-sneaker

Respect the classics, man.
Chuck Taylor's come in such a wide variety of colors and patterns. I always get compliments on my Chucks. Although full disclosure, snce I have tiny feet, I can get some of the cool kids patterns. The low black leather Chucks would also go with everything.
I hear Tretorns are very trendy now, especially for us GenXers.

I have the Nike court legacy sneaks and love them. My second choice world be black Vans, third choice classic white Converse Chucks. Which I have all 3 and wear one of them almost every day to the office.

I have five pair of Vans and I wear them all the time!
I'm a teacher and I'm on my feet for most of the day and they are comfortable and cute!
I wore them when I flew in July with a maxi dress and it was perfect!

I love the slip on styles suggested and wear them all the time, but I don’t think they are trendy. The great thing about foot fashion now is that you can be comfortable and stylish at the same time!

In my neck of the woods, Golden Goose sneakers are the #1 sneaker. None for me though - too pricy!

I was so excited as an exchange student in Sweden that year to actually get some there as they were too expensive here at the time. 😄 ETA And there was a CB Sports outlet in Bennington VT and I was able to score a CB jacket that I could afford. I felt so cool wearing my CB jacket, my Tretorn sneakers (or clogs), Levi 505s or white painter’s pants, and my alligator shirt. I wasn’t/aren’t often in style but but I was rockin’ it that year. 😆😂😂😂 Funny thing is I would still wear all of that today. 😆

I personally find Vejas to be uncomfortable (the tongue) but I like the look and anything that sort of falls in that realm visually.
Aside from that, I highly recommend the Cole Haan Zero Grand oxfords. I have a champagne metallic pair that go with so much. SO comfy too.

For an upscale work event, I would go with something that doesn't look like regular tennis shoes. You said, "...a very upscale work event." I don't know what industry it is, but that doesn't say tennis shoes to me. I have Vionics, Cole Haan lace-ups, and Ecco Soft 7s (run narrow), that can go a lot of places, but I wouldn't wear them to a nice event. They look a lot more frumpty-dumpty on me than on a 25-year-old Instagrammer. In my head, they're cool but, in the mirror, they look like I'm trying to avoid fallen arches.
