Maybe. But I doubt it.
It is shelf stable for 5 years so I might consider it for emergency supplies were it not $8.82/can cheapest I see it ( Walmart )
I have also in the past bought & donated canned meat for food drives but again $8.82 seems prohibitive for that as well. I’d rather donate the $10 grocery Gift card to the food bank so they can distribute those so people can buy the meat from the store
I’m more put off by the price than the fact that it is meat in a can. But probably not as canned chili tastes like pet food so I’m not going to blow $8 -$9 on possibly poor tasting canned meat.

I would not.
I want to know the origin of the meat and how much fat was in it to begin with.
Really--how much time does it take to brown the meat?
I don't know if I would either. I was hum-hawing just yesterday about buying hard boiled eggs. I have a terrible time with doing them myself. I have tried just about every suggestion there is about how to boil them to prevent the shell sticking, but it never fails and I'm swearing I will never boil them again. I don't know what it is, but there is just something about seeing them already cooked in a bag that gives me the creeps; just like this meat does. lol
But, why would you want to know the pre fat content? Isn't the end result what is important? I too would want to know where the meat came from and not some foreign place that has a bad reputation for food production. However, this meat company is a USDA company, so the meat should been good.
katlady I just looked and Walmart has it for $8.82 a can which equates to $5.04 per pound. I haven't read the rest of this thread past your post, so maybe someone else has suggested this... But, for those impossible-to-peel hard boiled eggs you need an Instant Pot! The eggs fall out of their shells. Pre-Instant Pot I never made deviled eggs because they'd always look like they had some disease. Now I make them any time I want, and I've even made a large batch to take to church.

No. The only meat I eat from a can is tuna. I understand why it exists. I still wouldn't eat it. Hard boiled eggs in a bag creep me out too. I think it the liquid in there with them. They look slimy. I am sure they are fine, but I will never know first hand.

librarylady I didn't mean to high-jack your thread on canned meat with hard boiled eggs. I was just making a comparison that some things with food just don't seem quite right.

I consider it the way a conversation goes...we started on A that led to B and then G came up, and here we are....

I'll admit to buying pre-cooked and peeled hard boiled eggs. It is so handy when I come home from work really tired and don't want to cook anything.
I don't really see how the canned ground beef is any different than buying canned tuna, chicken, or beef. My dad is 84, doesn't use a conventional oven because of his balance, and cooks with canned meat sometimes. He likes to make beef and noodles, or chicken and noodles, use on a baked potato, etc. Quick and easy.
