I would not.
I want to know the origin of the meat and how much fat was in it to begin with.
Really--how much time does it take to brown the meat?

I guess it is good for emergency purposes since it probably last a long time. But the price … what??!!! I’ve never seen that in the stores. I need to look in the canned meat section next time I go to the store.

I don't know if I would either. I was hum-hawing just yesterday about buying hard boiled eggs. I have a terrible time with doing them myself. I have tried just about every suggestion there is about how to boil them to prevent the shell sticking, but it never fails and I'm swearing I will never boil them again. I don't know what it is, but there is just something about seeing them already cooked in a bag that gives me the creeps; just like this meat does. lol
But, why would you want to know the pre fat content? Isn't the end result what is important? I too would want to know where the meat came from and not some foreign place that has a bad reputation for food production. However, this meat company is a USDA company, so the meat should been good.
katlady I just looked and Walmart has it for $8.82 a can which equates to $5.04 per pound.

Excessive high prices tends to indicate out of stock...

Would be handy for camping, might be useful for someone with physical limitations who can’t stand there to brown it (or doesn’t have the dexterity), probably used in larger portions for cafeteria style cooking…. 🤷♀️

I'll have to think about this. Cabinets are full of stuff I don't use all that often, but sure are handy when you need them.

I like making hard boiled eggs in the oven or air fryer. I have a lot of success with that.
As far as the browned meat, I really don't see any difference between that and any other canned meat like chicken or tuna. I would be willing to keep some on hand for emergencies.

I used to steam them in my Ninja multi-pot before I got the egg cooker, and that worked well, too. I know what you mean about too many small appliances, but this one IS small, and I wouldn’t want to give it up. This thing gets used a lot. My boys like hard boiled eggs.

If you have an Instant Pot your eggs will come out perfect every time.
5 minutes high pressure, 5 minutes slow release, 5 minutes ice bath.
You don't cover them in water, just put about 2 inches in the bottom and put them in a rack, so they are likely steaming.
If you don't have the IP a rice cooker may work.

I always like to think they would be great to keep around so one would grab that as a snack rather than not so good junk, so it probably would get some good use. Could make a batch or two and if there are any left at the end of the week, they could be made into egg salad for sandwiches. Good idea. You're tempting me. lol

Steaming the eggs makes the shell generally slide off practically in one piece. I used to use a steamer basket but usually use the instant pot now.

I wouldn’t, but I don’t eat beef of any type anymore. I do eat ground turkey and buy it in bulk from Costco. Then I cook it up, without any seasonings or anything, and separate it into 1-cup amounts and freeze it. I usually cook two packages at a time, with four packages coming in the bulk pack. The process doesn’t take that long in my large cast iron dutch oven and I then have a protein to add to many different dishes over the next several weeks.
I also buy two rotisserie chickens and while the turkey is cooking, I sit at the kitchen table and strip the chicken from the bones. I am usually exhausted after shopping, putting the other groceries away, and doing up all the poultry so the chicken bones get bagged and tossed into the freezer to be rendered into broth another day. I usually do that when I have a craving for soup.
The idea of canned ground beef sounds a little odd at first, but then I eat canned tuna all the time and when you think of buying canned fish, it can sound pretty disgusting if you overthink it.

Nope.
We do get Kevin’s brand fully cooked chicken, but it comes in a container, not a can. I don’t eat canned meat, but will eat the meant in pouches, but it’s rare.

As for the canned meat, I probably wouldn’t buy it. But I could see where it might be helpful in case of emergency. I’m all for people buying convenience foods when they can afford it. Especially if it helps them eat from home instead of having to pick up take-out due to physical issues. My DH does 99% of our cooking, because I’m one that can’t stand there for too long, I have to flit around the kitchen. But this is where I am, I’m not much into canned meats. Except once every 10 years or so I get a craving for Spam and Mac-n-Cheese like mom used to make.

I hate ground beef so that's a no from me anyway. But honestly meat in a can (other than tinned anchovies/sardines) is not my thing -- I haven't gotten on board the Spam resurgence, eg .

If you have an instant pot or other electric pressure cooker it makes them very easy to peel. 5 minutes on high pressure, 5 minutes natural release and then into an ice bath to cool.

I know what you mean about too many small appliances, but this one IS small, and I wouldn’t want to give it up. This thing gets used a lot. My boys like hard boiled eggs. I was coming in to recommend this same egg steamer! I didn't have many issues with making hard boiled eggs in a pan of boiling water, and scoffed at all the "tricks" and devices to make hard boiled eggs - until I got this tiny little egg steamer. IT IS THE BEST!
I can't recommend it enough, and it is small. It comes with a little plastic cup to measure the water you need. I think it does up to 7 eggs at a time. Put the eggs in the rack, add the correct measurement of water, twist the lid and and plug in/turn on. As soon as the water has evaporated, it starts playing a chime. I take the eggs out by grabbing the rack they are in and plunging them in an ice/water bath in a large bowl. Chill a bit in there and the shells slip right off. I make a lot more hard boiled eggs now, because it is so simple and easy and they turn out perfect every time. If you follow the correct measurement of water and plunge them in ice bath right as they are done - you never get the grey coating on the yolks either. 10/10 - it is worth the small price and the small space it takes up!

No I would not buy that...however, I am not opposed to some prepacked meats.. like Spam, chicken, tuna, dried beef (for sh*t on a shingle).. and I have seen roast type meat in a can that I have never bought but I wouldn't say no if I knew what do to with it. The one you posted.. just doesn't look good.

We bought some (against my better judgement) last winter when we had an ice storm and were told to expect power outages to last a week. Fortunately the canned soups and other stuff lasted the few days it took till the power was back on.

Don't want that to happen! Hope it resolved for you quickly.

Tip for using the pressure cooker for eggs: put the eggs in a steamer basket, the put something under the basket to raise it just a bit (rolled up balls of foil or condiment cups both work well. Add the required one cup of water, then do the 5-5-5 method mentioned above. If I just put the eggs in the water, the bottoms get too well done because they Star cooking before the pc comes to pressure and starts steaming them. The basket keeps them all out of the water so they start cooking at the same time.
The other benefit is that it is easy to pull out the basket and just drop it in a pan or bowl of ice water to cool them down.

I have a soft silicone basket that I use for hard boiled eggs, or should I call them hard steamed eggs? I have several accessories for my Instant Pot and I put two raised racks in there and set the silicone bag on this. Like you said, it keeps the eggs up and out of the water. Mine is similar to this steam basket. www.amazon.com/Avokado-Silicone-Steamer-Instant-Accessories/dp/B08BKWJH7S/ref=sr_1_41?crid=379SD6U5E4CLU&keywords=Silicone%2Begg%2Bbasket&qid=1700282254&sprefix=silicone%2Begg%2Bbasket%2Caps%2C216&sr=8-41&th=1
